No I don't.

I am never surprised at people with stupid thread titles/content if I see that they have a very few posts.

quality over quantity is the way to go. i remember people by their avatars, so if i see one that i remember, and know usually has good posts i will look at it. unless i am reading all the replies.

I always look at what the person wrote before I look at their post count. However, someone who has 10'000 posts is more likely to know what is expected of them on the forums than someone with 12 posts.

No-quality over quantity. Cause anyone can go on every thread and write one word and that counts as a post. The challenge is to be able to convey an actual opinion or response, with a bonus, if it is funny, witty, interesting or thought provoking.

I definitely go for quality over quantity. What else is there really to help you make an opinion about said person, avatars, clever names? Those are all interchangeable things. What they have to say is ultimately worth more. We dont really need a hierarchy on here, the concept of seniority is bullshit.
This. I don't care how many posts a guy has. It could be a bunch of posts that don't make any sense and are stupid, but he still has the "Gone Gonzo or Pulitzer Laureate" tag.

Very occasionally. I used to when I first joined, looked up to people like Indigo Dingo, Labyrinth, Baby Tea, Nuke, the Darths and so on, simply because they were all Gonzos. As I started to spend more time here I then realised that they were indeed worthy of the respect they recieve on the forums, but rather this was because of the quality of their posts instead of how much they posted. Even Max, who I guess is a bit of a post-whore (sorry Max!), is still generally a good poster because when he isn't derailing things he does make valid, well thought out contributions to discussion. I myself have occasionally been told in threads like this that I'm one of the more well known Escapists, which I have never agreed with myself (mainly because I haven't been here much for the past few weeks), but I feel the people who have said this have looked more at my post quality rather than my post count. Hence overall, I feel that someone's post quality is much more important when judging what someone is like on the forums. After all, look at Eggo (older members will know him, newer ones won't). He was one of the most prolific posters I've seen on a forum for a long time, and he was mainly still a troll (not to mention permabanned). However, take someone like, say, Nuke, who although has many posts isn't a post whore (as seen by his time of joining), and we see someone who is not only well respected but also a very high quality poster who generally brings plenty of valid discussion and points to any topic. Post counts aren't what matter. It's the quality, not quantity, that's important.

Each time I see my post number rise a tear falls down my face. I really should post... less. And the only reason I can see for liking someone with a high post is that you get a feel for what they are like and their personality on here, since you see the style of thier writing.

Get what I mean?

Completely not how my mind works on the OP - not even going to mention that poll.

In order of importance to me:

The first thing that grabs my attention is the quality of the answer, quite easy to tell after some practice (i.e. no capitalisation, no punctuation, overuse of "lol" or other lazy/popular 'net speak)

Second, the badge - not because they're pretty, but THE BADGE - because anyone with a Neo instantly deserves a medal/badge type award of some description. This is incredibly rare though, so Morpheus or the gold star (still have no idea what it is awarded for, but that's none of my business really) show the poster has a history of not being a complete idiot and, in the case of Neo, also has the miraculous ability of walking successfully on eggshells.

Thirdly and definitely lowest priority, I occasionally (if I don't recognise the poster) take account of join date, combined with post count. This is usually if I'm really desperate to whittle down a large amount of posts.

Everything is completely cancelled out if I see someone who's Gonzo after being on here for a month or less - that's a worrying sign of lack of daylight or real life of any kind...

I invert it.

If someone has a ridiculous number of posts here it probably means one of two things:

1) They're a dirty post-whore and just put up random posts because they're incapable of thought without speaking / typing.

2) They spend too damn long on the internet and need to get out and see the world to have anything of real interest to say.

Nope. The only reason I would prefer one person's post over another aside from quality, is that I know or have noticed them before. Or maybe if they have an eye-catching avatar or something.

Sadly yes, I do tend to but its more on a kind of mental check-list before I go reading large paragraphs:

"3000+ posts?"
Yes/No

"Permabanned yet?"
Yes: LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLO-
No: **chance of being a complete troll-dick reduced to 30%**

"Well structured answer + valid contribution?"
Yes: I'll make a mental note to read his/her posts in future
No: What a douche.

EDIT: Also, I resent your poll options, but found the "Sometimes..." option funny. :D

ACTUALLY I wish post count was hidden or possibly not even recorded except maybe in a database that automatically doles out titles as it sees fit. It's an arbitrary number that indicates nothing except that you yourself thought you had something to say that many times.

i dont base much off of it, but i certainly see it; im pretty sure everyone notices it and it factors in to some degree and no one wants to admit it defensive much??

Whats the point? It's just a post number.

Any new guy could join at any moment or day and be smarter and speak better english than 80% of everyone here. Yet, his post count could be as low as 10.

I think it just shows you been a member for long (or short) time. If I ever needed some advice or help at something in the fourms, generally I would ask Max if I ever needed advice from one person and not everyone as a whole.

My point: Post Count =\= Authority.

My question is very simple, and is this: do you ever judge a member of The Escapist and the quality of their post on their post count? While many would say that the very idea is stupid, think about this - as humans we always look to people with authority, and I myself naturally assume that more posts = more authority.

So back to my original question? Yea, or nay?
Nay. I never judge people's posts based on their time here or their post count.

I hate when people say I don;t have a life becasue I have a high post count. Ive been here for 6/7 months. Ive posted like 3500 times. 3500/210 = 16 posts a day. I had 40 min of free time each day in school. All spent on the escapist. And when I went home to do homework I would have the escapist on. Just chillin and all
