EDIT: FIXED LINK

I just watched the trailer for Postal III http://www.gametrailers.com/player/47163.html

I'm not squeamish. I like violent video games. I like violent movies sometimes. And I love video games in general.

But let me ask you this. Do we need a game where the only overt objective is to shoot random civilians in an urban setting? GTA IV and Saints Row 2 at least had a story and you're not actively encouraged to mow down randoms (except for the Mayhem diversion in Saints Row 2).

But what purpose does a game like Postal III serve in our community? I think this thing's a giant step backwards and, aside from what likely will be serious gameplay shortcomings, it will fail. I plan to vote with my wallet and repeat what I always say: if you don't buy garbage, they'll eventually stop making it, or at least make less.

So, my question: will you buy or play Postal III? And why or why not?

Postal and it's sequels should be forgotten in a land-fill, I saw a friend playing the second game, you could use a cat as a silencer, any one who comes up with an idea like that is either mildly insane or grotesquely immature.
All games like these do is give the anti-gaming front ammo for their canons.

I would.

There is a story to the second game, but it's soooo stupid you don't care.

It's a lot more fun than it should be, to be honest.

Like, I thought I'd hate it, but it's actually very entertaining to me.

I wouldn't pay for Postal 3, at least, not more than 10 bucks, but I do have postal 2...and I had the demo of the first one...:p

Actually no. The whole point the postal series in general IS NOT TO BE VIOLENT. It's to be fun and, more importantly, funny. Have you even played postal 2? It's hilarious. Just go into the store and read the labels on the food. It's pretty detailed with jokes. Detergent is called 666, milk is Jihad goat milk, the brand of diapers is called babysass, there's some weird red stuff labeled baboon testicles, just funny. He says funny stuff when you kill people, and just everything about the game is meant to be hilarious.

Also in no part of the game, and I mean absolutely no moment in the entire game, are you required to kill anything. No mission will force to to murder, no side quest will involve shooting a single bullet. The game is only as violent as you are.

Don't believe me? Vince Desi said it himself http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BA8nsvpA7FQ

Damn, now I'm giggling at the whole 'cat as a silencer' thing.
fucking great isn't it?

People who ***** about postal aren't the ones who played it, its always "I watched some dude play it and it was shit to play"... hold on there buddy!, you haven't played it youself!.

Postal (the first game) was surprisingly good, it was lovingly rendered and incredibly detailed, very dark and very moody.

Postal 2 was a pile of arse with a plate of syphilis, I've not played it, BUT ITS ALRIGHT! I TOTALLY WATCHED A DUDE PLAY IT.

Yeah, I think there's a place for Postal 3, and I'd sure be up for a next gen Carmageddon, so long as they keep the realism away with a looong stick!

It's big dumb mindless violence , like Serious Sam crossed with South Park, and as we all know, kept to adults, it's harmless.

I'm all for deep meaningful games, but sometimes you want to just go and vent your aggression for a while in a dumb fun way.

I loved Postal 2 it's one of the stupidest and funniest games I have ever playing. You can make someone throw up by lobbing anrathrax ridden cow heads at them, then taser them untill they fall over and piss themselves and then you can set them on fire and hear them scream and die. Then you can do it all over again. Fun

Thing is, the Postal games are only as violent as you are, don't want to kill someone? don't have to, OK, it's like GTA, where machine gunning your way through an entire area can sometimes be the easiest option, but, like GTA, the murder of civillians will make the game harder, what with the cops and civillian vigilante's that try to take you down.

WTG with the OTT assumptions though, nice one.

The guy in the trailer runs like, well, like he's attatched to about four or five different fireworks and they're all going diferent ways.

This game is very, very scary.

The guy who previews this is obviously speaking from a secure mental institution with a shotgun pointed at his head 24/7

My tummy turns less at the thought of three postals than more grand theft autos.
