Meh, I'm not gonna buy it. I mean, they should at least be aliens, or demons or something. Unfortunately, the game is already more original then most other games because you murder humans INSTEAD of aliens and demons and zombies and robots and fish-salamander hybrids.

I'm not sure what kind of person comes up with a game like Postal, nor what kind of person finances a game like that, nor what kind of store actually carries it... although, well, with a little thought, I suppose I actually do.

Answer to all three: ones that know there are a number of little boys with an unhealthy fascination for hurting things out there who will pay a lot of money for it. But really, if they're so eager to give creepy kids bad ideas, why not just toss themselves off of something tall onto something very hard instead? It would save the entire game industry, including developers, publishers and of course us players, so much grief... and who knows, maybe they'll only be paralyzed afterwards, and the creepy little boys can come visit them in hospital and cruelly poke at their mangled, bandaged limbs.
ever killed anything in a game?

the answer will be yes.

so you're no worse than the people you just panned.

No.

The problem with games like the Postal series is that when you strip away the peeing, Cat sliencer and other adolecent gimmicks from Running With Scissors games all you have left is a totally generic FPS that adds nothing to the gerne.

The mods they produce are questionable to say the least and the P2 mod was really screwed up (Apocalypse Weekend), why have a mod for a free-roaming game that doesn't allow one to free-roam? why give out new weapons if they can't be used in the original levels?...that's just silly.

In short: I support games, not gimmicks.

Okay, show me one FPS game that doesn't become generic if you strip away all the features. This makes no sense.

You guys are all a bunch of sissies, and most of you who talk shit probably haven't even played Postal 2. At least not beyond messing around for 10 minutes. I loved Postal 2's story, i have the original, Share the Pain, and Apocalypse weekend.

I'm not sure about this one though, the trailer doesn't address the storyline whatsoever, so it might just be unnecessarily mindless like people expect it to be.

p.s. cat silencers are brilliant

It had a badger as a weapon. Does it need more than that?

Also, hell, don't take the Postal games serious. Postal 2 was pure fun. The early trip for milk ends in slaughter and mayhem. You get to shoot up protesters that are against violent games. It's all just fun.

I've never played any of the games, so I couldn't tell you. The only thing that I'm noticing here is that the graphics are not looking amazing, this game could have easily passed as normal a few years back.

I get bored of killing spree in GTA games. And postal is basically just that in my opinion. Plus its fodder for the "games-are-the-cause-of-high-school-shootings" politicians.

I'd say no.

Postal 2 was hilarious, so yes we do need them, games take themselves so seriously these days that even overly violent game like this made tongue in cheek is a breath of fresh air. For the game itself, I think it would work better in the old first person view, and more gore please.

Actually no. The whole point the postal series in general IS NOT TO BE VIOLENT. It's to be fun and, more importantly, funny. Have you even played postal 2? It's hilarious. Just go into the store and read the labels on the food. It's pretty detailed with jokes. Detergent is called 666, milk is Jihad goat milk, the brand of diapers is called babysass, there's some weird red stuff labeled baboon testicles, just funny. He says funny stuff when you kill people, and just everything about the game is meant to be hilarious.

Also in no part of the game, and I mean absolutely no moment in the entire game, are you required to kill anything. No mission will force to to murder, no side quest will involve shooting a single bullet. The game is only as violent as you are.

Don't believe me? Vince Desi said it himself http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BA8nsvpA7FQ
Okay, the whole "well you don't HAVE to kill anyone!" argument is all well and good, except for the fact that when given the choice between killing people in hilarious ways and doing murder-free side quests, of course the vast majority of people are going to choose the former. I mean, you can use a cat as a silencer. How is that not an invitation to violence? It kind of renders the "the game's just supposed to be funny" argument obsolete.

Not that I really care, I've never played the games but I'm not opposed to them. It's just a bit naive to say that the game's only as violent as you are when it's obvious that most people are going to be as violent as possible.

Wow. For whatever reason, I was reading that as "Portal III," in which case I would have said a resounding "yes!" Give me portal for the Wii, already! Perfect meld of subject and format.

So I clicked on the trailer expecting GLADOS' voice to taunt me. Only to hear Death Metal. Now, I'm not a big fan of Death Metal. In addition watching that trailer made me almost cry as I wondered about the degeneration of human decency. Yeah, maybe this game won't 'inspire kids to go postal' like some politicians believe but, seriously. Should we be playing this stuff? I am personally disgusted and hope this game never sees the light of day.

Yes...if we don't have Postal, we'll go Postal.

Also games are for entertainment, right?
So if it's fun for someone, what right do we have to tell them they can't have fun?

The Half life series didn't need to rely on gimmicks to sell a product, unlike R.W.S. who has nothing to offer but the gimmick.

Peeing on somebody is a gimmick, it serves little purpose and is usually needless when a shotgun to the head is not only more effective, it's faster.

I've played Postal, Postal 2 and A.P. so please don't assume that you know anything about the people posting here.

The storyline in the Postal series is bland and utterly forgettable, just like Painkiller and Serious Sam, but at least they relied on throwing enemy upon enemy at you in a kill-em-all fragfest, Postal has to rely on adolescent humor to survive.

And that the crux of the matter, take those away and what do you have? nothing, a bland and tired FPS with a bland and tired story that offers nothing to the bland and tired FPS genre.

P.S. Cat Silencers are not brilliant, they're a gimmick.

Buy the game, enjoy the game and have fun....the people who don't won't be missing a thing.

Edit: don't know why the text didn't show up to the person i was quoting *shrug*

The game was designed as a social commentary, I do believe. Something like: "The world's fucked and you wonder why people go psycho?"

I also thought the Postal games had missions and it was at the player's discretion to murder innocents randomly?

Postal usually provides a few hours or so of entertainment at most. Either way, social or gaming perspective, we can live without it.

But let me ask you this. Do we need a game where the only overt objective is to shoot random civilians in an urban setting?
Do we ever not need one?

GTA on a segway? The question shouldn't be Do we need this game? It should be WHY HASN'T IT BEEN DONE EARLIER! haha
