Gabriel quickly moved through the narrow house when he heard Maya scream, when he happened upon the strangest of scenes; Maya and Zetta being threatened by a room filling guy, with awfully smooth features. His thoughts briefly shot back to the small boy dead on the concrete mere hours before, and before he knew it he'd thrown himself at the monster, with no regard to logic or safety.

As soon as he touched the illusion, the image burst into smoke; making Gabriel sail through thick smoke and right past Alec.

"holysonofamother.."

He slammed into the wall opposite of him and staggered back, dazed. He leaned against it to regain his footing.

Dr. Strauss crept into the room quietly, hoping no one would notice him. Then he heard the tiny terrified cries of a small child; Dr. Strauss looked and his heart almost broke to see the young girl in her pitiful state. His pity was quickly supplanted by rage. He trained his gun on... whatever those things were at the other side of the room.

"What have you..." he paused, quivering with anger, his voice hardened when he spoke again, "What have you bastards done to this child!?!?!? How could anyone..."


In a blind fury, Dr. Strauss forgot his Hippocratic Oath and fired on whatever those shapes were at the other side of the room; he hoped the bullets would do their job, otherwise...

Maya whimpered in reply to the giant snake-like man who had taken Alec's place as she clung even tighter onto Zetta's legs. The sounds of gunshots filled the air and just as Gabriel ran past her she shut her eyes to try to make herself invisible, but instead all that happened was an embarrassingly familiar wetness that swiftly spread through her shorts and dripped onto the floor. The illusion was far more terrorising than Lily or Zetta had seemed when she thought they were demons; more frightening than even the time she had realised that her mother was never going to come back. The thing seemed to be the perfect embodiment of her deepest and most instinctive fears; of the monsters she imagined hid under her bed at night and lurked in the long shadows made by her curtains.

Dr. Strauss reeled back and dropped to his knees as the gun was forced out of his hand. He looked up and locked his eyes on Maya. He needed to get her out of there she...

Nononono... I can't think about that... not now. Have to get her out of here.

"I'm going to get you out of here," he said to her.

"No matter what," he muttered under his breath.

The demon clutched Alec's torso. The wound left by one of Dr. Strauss's bullets was too severe to leave the body with a high chance of survival while it still possessed it.

If I stay here any longer I'll die with this idiot, I'll have to flee.

The demon flew out of Alec's head and back to the dark beyond from which it came. Alec lay on the floor bleeding, the essence of Alec was returning, slowly. Unfortunately the first idea to return to him was his mediocre calmness, the scenario was now more panicky and heart-stopping for all of the people in the room. Though the man was dazed and confused, amazingly the bullet seemed to have hit the demon rather than himself, leaving him completely unharmed.

Even as the action continued around he took in the various people in the room, including Dr. Strauss, Blackrose, a thin man standing against the wall near him and a young woman with a little Asian girl clinging to her legs who was staring at him wide-eyed. None of it made sense to Alec, last thing he remembered he had been speaking to Rin in her appartment.

Everything had happened so fast. One minute, Zetta was at the table and thinking of nothing in particular, and in the next, she was on her feet when the sounds of a door being kicked in and a girl yelling filled the house. "What the..." Zetta stared down as Maya clutched at her legs, her head snapping back up as strangers piled into the kitchen. The tall, snake-like man standing just in front of her was an illusion, she could tell. Before she could do anything, however, Gabriel had already sailed at him and burst the illusion.

"Oh, hell!" Zetta jumped as somebody fired a gun. She reached down to drag Maya farther away from the people, wishing she had enough energy left to create an illusion of her own in order to get away. The one who'd fired the gun was saying something, but she couldn't hear him. Just who were these people, anyway?

Before she could do anything, the man was on the floor and seemed to be covering a wound in his side. Had he been hit by one of the other man's bullets? Just then, her uncle skidded his way into the kitchen. He stared around, obviously not believing his eyes. When he spoke, it was in a high-pitched, cracking voice. "What in the hell is going on here? Who are you people?"

"It's best to just stay out of this." Lily said from behind Blackrose, calling into the kitchen. She bent and placed the joint of her knee behind Blackrose's and hooked an arm around her, placing her palm flat on Blackrose's chest, then yanking backwards, using her knee as a pivotal point, strengthening the blow with telekinesis. "Funny way of 'just talking'" She said with a grin, her balance faltering slightly, but she stayed up, not risking placing a boot on Blackrose's throat, but stepping away a little.

Pulling the gun from her stomach belt and aiming carefully at Strauss, considering him more dangerous as a loose cannon who fired on his own man -Not that it seemed to have done much except make him spew a large black whatever and become human- she asked "Tell me now and tell me truthfully. Did Rin send you?"

Dr. Strauss glared at the woman holding Blackrose with a look of utter contempt on his face.

"Yes... she did," he said tersely, "You had better let that child and my friend go. Now. I am a plaguebearer, at my whim, I can flood this entire room with lethal contagions from every deadly disease known to man. All magnified to be lethal within a few seconds after infection. So again, let my friend and the child go; and give us the sword. Now."

"Give you the sword?" Lily laughed, unable to help herself. "Your Rin just tried to get Maya to kill us. We saved her after Rin realised she couldn't. Sadly, we couldn't help her friend." Lily let her features drop, and glanced at the doorway Zetta's uncle stood in. "Why does she want it anyway? I don't think it'll save her kidnapping warlock pet, Merlin, so all I can think of is the plan for world domination she tried to get me to sign up to." She paused for a moment, glancing at the three assailants around the room. "You don't look much like world domination types to me, but I suppose world domination isn't something you get offered every day." Her words didn't seem to be working. Lily braced herself for an attack, mentally checking that no-one had noticed her telekinesis as she took down the girl. She created an invisible barrier across the entrance to the kitchen keeping anything from passing through if the plague carrier wasn't bluffing.

"What the bloody hell are you babbling about?" Dr. Strauss fired back, "Nevermind. I don't give a damn about Rin's goals. She can help me, that's all. Just give us the sword, and let Maya and Blackrose go, and we'll be on our way."

Dr. Strauss made a show of bringing his hands together, as if he were about to remove his gloves. Then he placed them under his chin; resting it and the surgical mask he was wearing on his hands.

Maya was hugely relived when she cautiously opened her eyes again to find that the terrorising demon had seemingly vanished, to be replaced by a confused man crouched on the floor. She still kept a tight hold onto Zetta though as Lily had arrived and taken another one of the attackers hostage and was pointing a gun at a third older one who... seemed to asking for her? The little girl felt a stab of dread as she realised who had sent him; the idea of returning to Rin after what the woman had made her and Takeda do last time they met made her feel sick inside. She looked between the opponents wide-eyed, not really wanting to see what would happen next but unable to look away.

"How'd I get here? The last thing I remembered was that I had to find Rin and get her sword to Tao Zheng. Whoever you people are, I mean no harm."

Alec stood up from the small puddle of blood that didn't seem to come from him. Then he noticed Maya and remembered something Hui told him.

"Wait, where is the second child?"

"Alright, looks like peace talks have broken down." Blackrose said, grabbing the girl's leg and yanking it hard, causing her to stumble backwards as Blackrose lept up. As she got onto her feet, she stumbled forward, her hand balled into a fist, and slammed it into the girl's shoulder, letting loose a blast of energy right before it connected. The release of energy sent Blackrose stumbling backward. As she fell back, she felt like she smashed into a barrier, feeling it shatter beneath her.

"Agh. What in the hell was that?" She thought to herself, losing her grip on consciousness. "No-no, stay awake, stay awake." She told herself.

"Alright, we're not playing anymore. We only want to talk peacefully, but we'll force you if we have to." Blackrose said to the four, swaying back and forth as she stood up. "Alright, now answer Alec's question." She commanded.

'Well that worked swimmingly' Lily chastised herself as she balanced herself to keep from toppling with telekinesis, massaging her shoulder where the girl hit her with an unreasonable amount of force. She would have punched her back, right on the nose, but she figured being slammed to the ground warranted a hard punch, and really, she didn't want to end up with a cold from the plague rat. Besides, if they could reason with them, punching someone was not a good way to go about that. "If you must know where Takeda is." she said, stressing his name, seemingly offended by Alec's reference to him as simply 'The second child' "He is through in the other room, but frankly, while you might just be people Rin has fooled into doing her bidding, I don't trust any of you to be out of my sight for a second, so if you wouldn't mind, I didn't catch your name sir, but could you, well... Bring him in?" she asked, turning to Zetta's uncle. She made a pained face as she posed the question, as if it truly hurt to ask.

"Wait, wait, WAIT! I was sent by Tao Zheng to get a sword and to get it from Rin. I do not WORK for her. I was also told by a dead lady, [small][small]beautiful dead lady[/small][/small], that I was supposed to look after a few children that I meet when I come here. All I want to do is see where the other child is, and to retrieve the sword for Tao Zheng so I could get on with my tightly packed schedule. Please don't make my life hard, I've had enough already with the bar episode, and the other angry bartender, and etc. I really feel like I said this five times already."

"Sucks dude." Gabriel said, seeking support with his right hand on the wall. "You're not getting that sword."

"The hell I'm not," Dr. Strauss shouted panic entering into his voice, "I need it... I don't care what Rin wants it for, but I need her help. She's... she's the only one who can save my family... from me."

Dr. Strauss started walking towards them.

"Where is the sword?"

"None of you is getting the damn sword!" Zetta exclaimed, her eyes darting from one person to the next. Everybody seemed to be talking at once and she wasn't sure where to look. Finally, she focused on Alec. "You say you're not working for Rin, yet you want to take the sword and bring it to her. Whether or not you think so, you are obviously working under her for now. And you," she added, turning to regard Dr. Strauss. "Stay right where you are. She used Maya here and Takeda as pawns, to do what she wanted done for her and not to help them themselves. She lied to them to get what she wanted, see? Think about it: She's probably doing the same to you three, right now."

Maurice, meanwhile, had listened to Lily and slipped out of the room. He came back into the kitchen now, the covered body of Takeda cradled awkwardly in his arms. His eyes were screwed up as he stared down at what he was carrying. Zetta had told him, briefly, about what had happened to the boy, but he was far from comfortable in knowing he had a body in his house--and now, in his arms.

Zetta knelt down on the floor besides Maya as she saw her uncle walk right back in. She started to say something to the girl, but shook her head when she couldn't think of what to say. Maya knew anyway, after all. Instead, she looked back over at Alec while gesturing to the bundle in Maurice's arms. "That," she said coldly, "is Takeda, the other child you wanted to see. What happened to him is your employer's fault."

"I...I, uuuuuuuh. Which employer? My old archeology center or Tao Zheng? Wait, I think you got the wrong idea. I AM NOT working for Rin. Tao Zheng just sent me to get the sword from her. The second I get the sword I'll go back to the company. This company is trying to help specials from what I remember, the sword might be a valuable part of their work."

Alec pulled out a small amount of cash, it was the remaining money that Mr.Kim gave him.

"Unlike Rin, Tao Zheng is trust-worthy. They told me to do something with a promise of reward, and I got it. Without them I might have been starving on the street right now. Think about it. If a company devoted to helping specials is in need of a sword, isn't it a good idea for the specials to help get it to them?"

Alec took a look at the mangled boy in the man's arms. He was silent until the idea of pity returned to him.

"I can fix this if you give me the sword."

Gabriel shook his head while sighing audibly. He noted how his world'd stopped spinning after his forceful meeting with the wall.

"Listen mate, you're not getting that sword, no matter which two-faced bastard you're serving. An' I know a thing or two about the dead."

He waved his arms around as if imitating a ghost.

"You can't just bring someone back from the dead. You'd have to wrench their souls, remains, conciousness, whatever from the afterlife, and even then you'd get an abomination of a being."
