"How's this for logic. You will keep avoiding loud sounds, because you will become deaf when you hear too many. Sarah will always dress in summer-clothing, even in winter. Someone will eventually connect you and this project, because it isn't comlpletely destroyed. There are still people out there who know who you are."

Samuel sighed.

"You may live out of sight, but you're not invisible that way."

Sarah looked at Emily and smiled. "Who cares what they say Emily. Remember, we can't trust them. Not now or ever. We were probably dumb to trust them to being with." Sarah looked in Sparrow's direction.

"I'll take you up on your offer Emily. Besides, I can wear winter clothes. It doesn't bother me, I'll just get a little tired is all."

 

[Sparrow]

"Yeah, thats right. You can't trust the people who just saved your life out out of the kindness of their hearts..."

Samuel lifted his arm up.

"...and if you even try to hit me, I'll T-Rex your arm off."

 

[SamuelT]

"Bite me." Samuel said with a grin.

He turned in his seat, keeping the plane steady, and looked at Sarah.

"Why can't you trust us? We have never done anything to you in the form of attacks. The happening on the airport was self-defence. Just now we've saved you from immenent death. The thing in Chicago was a misunderstanding. I don't see any reason for you to hate us."

Sarah looked at Samuel.

"Its not that I don't fully trust you. Its that now I'm not the idiot who would go and fight without asking questions as to why we're fighting and killing others."

After speaking to Samuel Sarah looked and faced Sparrow.

"Out of the kindness of your heart? Really? Is that why you nearly killed me? Is that why you said those horrible words to me? Or don't you remember what you said?"

Sarah breathed in and sighed. "Hows your empty bank account, Sarah? Hows your thriving love life? Hows your mansion? Hows your crappy life, Sarah? How is it? Hows your dead family Sarah?" Sarah looked away from Sparrow. With anger in her voice she spoke. "Thats exactly what you said."

 

[Sparrow]

"Yes. And it managed to save my life, Samuel's life, Aesis's life, Patrick's life, Emily's life, Iceous's life, all those inocent bystander's lives and YOUR life. I'm not sure if you noticed, but I'm not usually the prick that reminds people how bad their lives are."

Samuel nudged Sparrow.

"Yeah, yeah. I should probally tell them."

 

[Doc Theta Sigma]

Doc screamed as he crawled out of the smouldering rubble of the facility. Flames were crackling in places and twisted metal littered the crater... He'd been unconscious when it exploded. And he was grateful for that small respite before the pain kicked in. He'd awoken screaming. The entire left side of his face was almost burned off, almost all of his cheek was gone, leaving a gaping hole revealing his teeth, a partial amount of his jaw and chords of muscle. His eyelids were also burned away, leaving his eye socket and eye visible. Also, at the end of his right arm was a ragged stump. The pods had been destroyed in the explosion, turned into sharp twisted hulks. One of which had fallen over and severed his right hand. Wet red bone poked through the mutilated flesh.

Hearing movement, he tried to move his head to look up but couldn't. He could only make out a silvery glow.

For Doc from now on, basically think of Two-Face's appearance in the Dark Knight. Oh and Chris, hope you don't mind the acknowledgement of your character. I'll edit it out if you want me to

Sarah ignored what Sparrow said. She saw Samuel nudge Sparrow.

"Yeah, yeah. I should probably tell them."

"Tell us about what?"

 

[Sparrow]

"Nothing special. Just your garden variety death. Not that you ungrateful bastards would care."

Samuel frowned, and patted Sparrow on the shoulder.

"I don't want to speak about it. You can tell them, Samuel."

 

[SamuelT]

Samuel sighed. He didn't like speaking about it.

"Sparrow here suspects that with his power he is shifting himself to death. And I support that opinion."

Sarah looked at Sparrow with a worried look on her face. Whatever she had previously thought was momentarily forgotten.

"Then we need to get you help. There has to be some way that this can be fixed."

 

[Sparrow]

"You're telling them I'm biting the bullet Samuel, not voting for the next president."

Sparrow paused, and stared out the window of the plane.

"This is long past treatable, Sarah. Each shift shortens my life span. Makes me weaker, lowers my immune system, opens up old wounds. I've got about ten years left, if I don't shift at all in that period of time."

Samuel didn't like hearing what Sparrow said, and decided to concentrate more on the plane's controls.

"I don't expect you to care. I don't really."

Sarah was stunned as Sparrow spoke about his condition. Sarah sat forward in her chair.

"Then stop shifting. Stop and you'll get better. If thats the only solution then you have to stop."

"I don't expect you to care. I don't really."

"Of course I care. Even with everything thats happened Sparrow I still care about you. The last thing I would want is to lose you."

 

[Sparrow]

Sparrow didn't reply. The last thing he wanted anyone to do was feel sorry for him, but it was comforting.

"Maybe. I'm going to stop shifting most definately. I promised myself that I'd only do it to bust you five out. Theres already symptoms though, but they're little things."

Samuel grinned.

"Thanks, Sarah."

 

[Dorian]

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sorry you're going to die soon. Just drop me off in Chicago and I'll gladly stop contact with all of you."

Iceous began to make little ice-creatures come to life to pass the time.

 

[Sparrow]

"My sentiments exactly."

Sparrow yawned.

"Wanna' try that thing you used on that plane going toward Chicago again, Iceous? I think you'd make a pretty crimson mark on the ground when I forget to hand you a parachute."

 

[Dorian]

"Meh. Parachutes are for regular humans. Snowballs are more fun anyway."

EDIT: "Wait a second. How do you know about that?"

Iceous got sad when the ice-lizards where killed by the ice-hawks.

 

[SamuelT]

[Cause it was kind of obvious, all over the news and stuff.]

"Frosty, can it. You're alive because of us, but nothing can stop us from taking it away again. We're pretty far up." Samuel said. He disliked the way Iceous treated him, and Sparrow, as if they were dirt.
