[Got kinda confused because I never actually used a parachute...]

"Pfft. Whatever. I've only learned one thing since all this started. Self preservation. I've been thinking constantly on ways to survive. Falling was pretty easy."

The ice-animals were beginning to bore Iceous. Nothing an ice-dragon wouldn't solve though!

"Yeah, after we land you can go your own way again. Don't you worry." Samuel said, getting really annoyed. He wanted out of this can, away from these ungrateful people. Away from all of this.

They flew through the night, and landed on a small airstrip next to Chicago, nicely forgotten by some contractor who had placed it there. It didn't make any sense, but Samuel rolled with it.

He landed, roughly, and stopped the plane.

"Let them out." He said to Sparrow. "But don't offer them anything. They don't deserve it."

[Again, in character. Nothing personal.]

Sparrow agreed with Samuel, and stepped outside of the plane. They we're both obviously aggravated by the current situation.

Samuel hit the exit bay hatch, and then made his way out of the plane behind everyone else. Sparrow put his hands in his pockets, as he faced the group. They all averted their gaze, except for Sarah.

"Just so you know, we didn't get a kick out of bailing you out. We did it because if we hadn't, then we'd really be the villians you think we are. Plus, we're nice chaps really."

Samuel began walking away from the group, as Sparrow turned to follow.

"Don't get yourselves killed."

Sparrow caught up with Samuel, as they strolled off toward his apartment. Hopefully they'd never have to see the others again.

"Hey, you're okay with this right? I know you were kind of close to Sarah. You don't seem to be alright." Samuel asked Sparrow.

"Alright, lets go to the airport Sarah, I will pay for your ticket, I should still have all of my money." Emily looked at Iceous, "See ya Frosty, I must say it hasn't been very fun. Bye Ace, it was nice seeing you again." she hugged the two men and looked at Patrick, "Goodbye Patrick, what are you going to do? I would offer you to come, but I have no more room, my house isn't that big. Good luck."

She hugged Patrick and began walking toward Chicago.

"Yeah."

Sparrow smiled.

"For once, I'm okay."

Chapter 6: Long Time No See

Five years later...

Sparrow leaned back on the sofa in Samuel's apartment. Five years had past since they last saw the others, although neither Samuel nor Sparrow ever acknowledged this. Sparrow had not used his powers since the incident in Russia Instead, he acted more as Samuel's aid in finding the remaining scientists that worked on their project, though they had made no progress.

Samuel barged into the room, and dragged a man behind him. Sparrow looked at the body, and then into the man's eyes. It's was quite obvious he was dead. Samuel threw a clipboard onto Sparrow's stomach, who then read it's contents.

"A new project? These are the names of the people that worked on us, aren't they?"

Samuel nodded, as he threw the body out of the window of the apartment, and into the outside skip. He then proceeded to wash his hands of the blood.

"Christ sake, not again."

"I'm afraid so." Samuel said with rage in his eyes. He furiously washed his hands, letting the blood stream off his hands. He whiped them off a towel and stared towards a wall. Then he hit it.

"Damn it! This was supposed to be the end! He-" Samuel gestured to the window he had thrown the body out of, "- was the last one! And now the entire show starts anew!"

He sighed and stopped yelling.

"We have to stop this before it has a chance to start, Sparrow."

Sparrow edged off the sofa, and grabbed some Vicodin that was on the side of the counter. He popped the lid off the small bottled, and threw one of the small white pills into his mouth. Ever since his leg had gone untreated, the condition had become constant. He took Vicodin regularly to deal with the pain. However, he had become somewhat of an addict.

"Any idea what we're dealing with? Is it maybe, weaponry? Drugs? Or, another prototype?"

5 years. 5 long years since Iceous had seen the other Prototypes. It wouldn't have been so long, if Antonio hadn't past away while he was kidnapped. Now he was alone. As alone as possible in a harsh world. The US government had lost any record of him, and all of his family was dead. He was a nobody. A nobody in a city full of somebodies.

Sometimes I wonder why I bother with existence.

Iceous kept working on his ice statues he made his living on. After all, swans don't make themselves, as cliche as it is. The only thing that kept him sane were his ice-animals. After the trip home, he'd been working on that trick. After 5 years of practice, he could make them as big as a person and give them the ability to speak.

"Cicle, what do you have?"

Cicle, his favorite creation, crawled over to him and dropped a shoe. Cicle was an ice-tortoise that had been his first true success in size. As large as a television, he was hard to miss.

Soon I must work on the ability of speech. It's rather depressing to not hear any voice but my own all day.

"Another bloody prototype is what we're dealing with. Americans this time." Samuel said. He had lost his rage. In these five long years he had been a subject to rage-attacks from time to time. Buildings had been known to crumble when it happened.

"They rounded up every lab-dog that worked in Russia, every student, every janitor and every truck-driver and put them back to work. They created a #9..."

Samuel stopped talking. He limped towards his cane stuffed into a corner, the same Sparrow had used a few years ago. His hasty repairs to his knee when he was shot had shattered it when they had landed. It healed over time, but he could't walk properly anymore. He preferred to lift himself with his anomaly.

"That could be a problem. A very, very big problem."

Sparrow shifted off the sofa, and stood up straight. He walked over to Samuel and handed him the clipboard.

"What do you think they want another prototype for? I mean, the American government? This was a Russian project, in the damn war! This makes no sense whatsoever."

Everyone continue to make up your own backstories in what happened in these five years. We'll all be together again soon.

Sarah nodded at Emily. She hugged the others, except for Samuel and Sparrow, then made her way to the airport with Emily. It was finally over. They would never see each other again. Even though she wouldn't see them she would still miss them, even Sparrow and Samuel.

"Take care everyone."

5 Years Later.

Sarah walked into her apartment in L.A. She had moved here about three years prior. She had gotten enough money and parted ways with Emily. She thanked her then made her way to California. There she worked an office job and got herself an apartment. Everything, for the first time in a long time, was going good.

She looked around at her apartment. A duplex with nice furniture and in a nice neighborhood. The best that she had had since she became a prototype. But even though these things surrounded her she felt empty inside.

Sarah breathed in and sighed.

Things have been the same. Nothing has changed. Then why do I feel so empty?

Sarah walked over to a nearby dresser and pulled out a small locket, the one Sparrow had given her five years earlier. She opened it and looked at the picture. It was a picture of them when they were in UIC together.

Even if I haven't talked to any of them in a long time. I still hope that they're ok.

"Since when do Americans make sense? They just can, so they will." Samuel said. He took the clipboard.

"Perhaps this is for the continuation, or the start, of another war."

Samuel sighed and threw the board away. He was disgusted of the entire thing.

"We should just barge into the place and blow it up, just as we did to the Russia facility. No way they could stop the two of us."

5 Years Later:

"Goodbye sweetie, have a good day!" Emily yelled to her husband Jack, "See you at six!"

It had been five years since the incident and three years since Sarah left. Perfect timing for Emily as she was just starting to get serious with Jack at the time. She walked to her restaurant, as she did every day. The sights and sounds invigorating her, she loved living in White Rock, the smell of the ocean was lovely. She thought about her experiences every day, she didn't want to forget what had happened, it was who she was.

Life is truly good, great husband, great house, restaurant is thriving. Yup, life is pretty good.

"Yeah, a reality bender with a limp and a drugged up shapeshifter. We'll tear em' apart!"

Sparrow grabbed the milk from Samuel's fridge, and poured him and Samuel a glass each. He passed Samuel his, and then began to drink his own.

"So, where do we start?"

Doc stared at the book in front of him, his expression blank. He had spent the 5 years since the incident at the Arcturus Maximum Security Asylum... A strike team of US Rangers had found him at the site of the explosion, disfigured and broken. He'd refused treatment for the burns to the side of his face and for a prosthetic for his hand. He continued to stare at the page. He didn't even read them any more. Every 15 minutes an orderly would enter to turn the page for him, since he was confined to his straight jacket.

He was broken since the incident. The immense physical pain and trauma had left him unable to use his powers. He'd barely spoken a sentence in the past five years. He heard the door open behind him, and sure enough, a hand appeared and turned the page and the door closed again.

Iceous had finished his work for the day and put his sculptures in the freezer. Now he had time to work on his projects.

How to make ice talk.... No reason to risk the good ones.

He spun some of his spare water into a nice little ice-parrot. Next he emptied the throat of ice and compacted it into hair-thin strands. He strung them together and made an artificial voice box. "Speak." The parrot eyed him as if he were insane. It opened its beak and made a screeching noise, like ice scrapping metal. Iceous sighed and turned the parrot into a puddle.

"Failure.... Maybe technology can help."

He took out some ice and ice cream and put them in dishes on the floor. "Be good Cicle. Don't eat anything bad for you. I'll be back within an hour." He locked the door and left for the electronics store.

"I don't really know. All the leads have gone dead. No-one connects to no-one. And I haven't got an uplink to Eyes-Only data." Samuel said, shrugging. He limped towards the only chair and sat on it.

"I don't think the others should be involved in this. We don't know where they are, and we owe them to leave 'em alone. Don't you agree?"

"Fully."

Sparrow cracked his knuckles.

"They'd probally just get in the way."

Samuel twiddled his cane between his fingers.

"Alright. I suggest we get going straight away."

"Where to? I mean, there is an adress on the clipboard, strangely enough, but nothing else. I suppose we could go there first." Samuel said. He fished the keys of his bike out of his pocket.

"And we go in style." He said with a grin.
