We needed to fill in the others, and that happened. Now, we're waiting for someone else to say something. Have some input. Be creative. Do something. Create drama, tension, joy. Anything
I'd like to add that a point in the RP doesn't have to have a point. We're all very complicated characters, and theres alot of character development needed. Sarah and Sparrow have their side story, as to Samuel and Sparrow. Emily and Patrick also have a story, but it's not been focused on. Iceous has been a bit left out here though, but I'm sure Portal cna find a way to form some kind of bond. Or not, he could be a loner in the group. That in itself could be character development.
I'm just saying folks. The point of the last scene was to both retreive Emily, and have some character development between the others and herself. Keep it in mind.
[Well I'm just posting for the hell of it now so I don't forget]
Doc looked around nervously into the darkness as he walked up the driveway towards the rather normal suburban house. It was practically the same as every other house on the street. Tidy lawn, trimmed hedges, the works. He'd used his powers to sneak into the city records and found that Temperance had never left Vancouver. His wife was still alive but was in a nursing home with Alzheimer's disease... He'd gone to see her, claiming to be her son but she hadn't recognised him. It'd broken his heart. She'd looked so frail and helpless. He'd thought he saw a glimmer behind her eyes but she didn't recognise him. Probably due to his injuries since the nursing staff had recoiled in horror more than once when they saw him.
Now it was all down to Temperance. He found out she'd married a doctor... Ted Booth. One son in his teens by the name of Jacob. A perfectly happy normal suburban family. Taking a deep breath, he rang the doorbell. It was insane. Even if she did recognise him, there's no way she'd believe it. It was several minutes before he heard footsteps and the door opened. Stood there was a rather tall and lanky teenaged boy with long straightened blonde hair and an iPod in his hands. The boy simply stood there, a look fixed on his face which was a mixture of horror and shock.
"M-Mom, D-Dad?!" He shouted.
Within seconds, two adults appeared in the hallway behind him. A tall lean man with short blonde hair and a woman of average height with wavy dark brown hair. The three stared at Doc with the same expression of shock and horror. After several minutes, it was the man who decided to speak up.
"W-Who are you?" He asked.
"Allow me to introduce myself... I'm here to talk to Temperance. I'm a friend of her father" Doc said calmly.
"But my father disappeared when I was a little girl. If you were his friend you'd be almost eighty" The woman said.
"I'm a recent friend... He didn't disappear but this is something I really need to talk in private with you about" Doc smiled.
The visible shifting muscles in his face must have repulsed them because they winced.
"Anything you say to me can be said in front of my husband too. Jacob, go upstairs" Temperance said.
"Gladly" Jacob said, turning and running up the stairs.
"Please... Come in" Ted said, walking forward.
Doc stepped in through the door and Ted closed it behind him. Looking around, Doc saw pictures of the family. He smiled as he noticed one stood on a small table of himself and Temperance when she was a little girl. The three of them walked into the lounge, where a television was turned on in the corner. Sitting down, Doc smiled pleasantly at them both.
"Forgive me sir... But my curiosity is getting the better of me" Ted said. "I'm a doctor and I was wondering... Your face. Why has it not been treated?"
"That is neither relevant or any of your business" Doc said calmly.
"Well it's my business because I'm a doctor. But you're right, it's not relevant" Ted said. "So what is it you wanted to say to my wife?"
"Of course. Well I'm going to be honest with you... I'm not a friend of your father Temperance" Doc said. "I... Well... I am your father"
The two looked confused for a second before anger flashed across Temperance's face.
"How dare you! What kind of a sick joke do you think this is? My father disappeared when I was small!" Temperance shouted. "He'd be nearly eighty you sick bastard! Get out of my house!"
Doc didn't move but stared at her. However, Ted crossed the room and grabbed him by the arm, yanking him up and marching him towards the hall without speaking.
"Wait!" Doc shouted.
"I don't know what kind of a game you're playing but you're leaving" Ted said.
Wrenching free of Ted's grip, Doc walked back into the room where Temperance was sat on a sofa, crying. Reaching into his pocket, he took out a small brown paper bag, opened it and held it out to her.
"Jelly babies. They were your favourite when you were little" Doc said softly.
Temperance glared. He had to try harder. He needed her to believe him. Ted grabbed a hold of him once more.
"Just before I went to work in Norway I gave you a pocket watch. A gold pocket watch with little stars in place of the hands. It had an inscription on the back. A bible verse. Numbers 35:19" Doc said. "It said 'The revenger of blood himself shall slay the murderer: when he meeteth him, he shall slay him'"
Temperance's expression softened slightly.
"It was your grandfathers. He fought in the first World War. You asked me what it meant. And I said 'That's the law of the jungle. My daddy gave it to me when I was your age to remind me to always do what is right" Doc said, tears now streaming down the undamaged side of his face.
Temperance immediately stood up and walked across the room to a glass cabinet with a small wooden box inside. She took it out and opened it, taking out a worn gold pocket watch. She read the inscription on the back and tears formed in her eyes. Covering her mouth with one hand she looked at him.
"Oh my god..." Temperance gasped.
Ted had now let go of Doc who crossed the room to Temperance who looked at him. Her eyes studied every part of his face. Her eyes went wide as they looked into his.
"It's you. It really is you" Temperance whispered.
[Sorry Doc! I'd wish you could get involved sooner. Tell you what, get approached by an american project dude. Or just go on with what you want to do.]
"Nothing Sparrow, just drop it." Samuel said, while avoiding his gaze. The scent of burnt plastic and caramel drifted inside.
"What happened out-" Samuel started to ask, but stopped when he saw Sparrow look angry and Sarah look satisfied with herself. Burnt vicodin. Alright.
"We've got two rooms, and this one's with only a double bed. Perhaps you'd," Samuel pointed at Sparrow and Sarah. " take this one. The rest would be...quite uncomforable. We could take the next. Y'know. If it's alright with you guys."
Sparrow thought about it for a few seconds. It was a strange situation, but these were strange times. Action had to be taken. One person would have to stand up. However, that person would not be Sparrow.
Iceous looked from Sarah to Sparrow, then Sarah again. She was obviously taking a while to decide.
"Well. Whatever you decide, I'm tired, so I'll just go into the other room."
He stood up and strolled out the door, taking one of the keys to the other room. A quick swipe, and the door butted outward. He tugged it open and leaned against the wall. He was much more tired than he appeared, but he wasn't kidding at Emily's house. He really had to go!
After he was done, Iceous looked in the mirror. His hair wasn't even beginning to lighten up. I don't think Samuel and Sparrow are right about this. It's been 2 days, and not even a spark of my power yet. His vision got blurry. He needed to get to sleep. He staggered towards one of the beds and plopped down. He was asleep within 5 minutes.
"I'm fine with whatever." Sarah stood and walked over to the bed. She laid down, but she wasn't tired, or sleepy. She just laid there and looked at the crumbling wall paper.
The situation that we're in is much more confusing than the last time we were all together. Emily's frozen, we basically ruined her life, Iceous can't use his powers, Sparrow is a drug addict whose in constant pain.... Sarah breathed in and sighed heavily. Maybe sleeping will help me. Sarah closed her eyes. She had now begun to feel tired and was asleep within minutes.
I'm not going to be here today. Sorry. Feel free to take control of my character. I'll resume posting tomorrow.
Iceous tossed and turned in his sleep. His dreams wouldn't let him sleep peacefully. Only one thing kept going through his mind, over and over and over again.
Sarah
She was running through his house, towards the stairs. He reached out his hand and cried out, "Sarah! Stop, come back!" But she just kept on running. He chased after her, and out the door. He saw a mushroom cloud appear over the horizon. A shock wave was traveling across the countryside. Sarah was running straight for it. "SARAH!!!" She looked at Iceous, then the shock wave hit. Her ice frame splintered, then collapsed. She cried out in agony. It cut through his ears. He tried to block out the sound, but it just got louder and louder.
Iceous woke up in a clod sweat panting. Everyone was asleep. The clock said 6:17. He shook off the dark feelings for now. He'd wallow in self-misery later. A shower might help.
"Sorry" Samuel said while lifting his hand off Sparrow's arm. He didn't seem hurt, and was on the medication, so he shouldn't have felt pain.
"Hey, I wanted to ask you what your plan is. We've got the group again, minus Ace. But they're not in prime condition. And the entire Jack-thing got out of hand too."
"I just wanted to make sure we were all safe. Now that I've sort of done that, well. We can start planning. I have to talk with Sarah about something first, then we can continue."
Sparrow patted Samuel on the shoulder, with his left hand.
"Get some sleep pal."
Sparrow nodded to Samuel, and he nodded back, as they parted ways toward their seperate bedrooms. Sparrow slowly slunk down on the bed next to Sarah, and put his hands behind his head.
