I won a PS3 in a Sydney Morning Herald blogging competition. It was easier to win for me than a breakdancing competition, so I decided to enter, so I got an email a month later telling me I won a PS3 for an article I wrote for Screen Play Blog.

No regrets since, by the way, it can play PS1 games so if you have Final Fantasy VII you can play it on your PS3. I play Croc: Legend of the Gobbos for my BC. Only because I don't have Final Fantasy VII... TT_____TT

I'm thinking of buying a PS1. I hate consoles, but I have some good polygonal memories from the 90s I'd like to relive. What's the going price for an old Playstation these days?
Wouldn't it be easier to just buy a Ps2?
No! That's exactly what they're expecting! Rawr! >o<
I just said, you can buy a PS3 for backwards compatible PS1 through a patch you can download. Isn't it FABULOUS?

I want to buy one because Little Big Planet looks awesome, but I don't have the money ATM and it seems like a waste for just one game.

I can't see it workign for nostalgia purposes when I lie & claim that my best friend gave me a PS3 back in 1998 >_>

In my opinion, no if you own a 360 already. Not enough quality exclusive games to justify the (still) high price tag, simple as that.

here are my 2 cents

my 360 died on me. if i get another one it'll be my 5th one. now given the 360 has more games. but the PS3 is just.....fun? It has less games (though i have managed to gather up 20 games for the PS3 and i only have 16 for the 360) and my PS3 library grows almost bi-weekly. you get a bunch of free stuff which is fun and honestly, I've had no problems with online game play. no more problems with it then i have with XBL. at times, much less.

take this opinion as you will

I have a Xbox 360 and I recently got a PS3, and my opinion is that the Xbox 360 is better. But my Xbox 360 also broke down again so, it's a coin flip. The PS3 does have some great games. You choose.

Personally? The PS3's exclusives kick the 360's like a beaten dog. Ofcourse, I'm one of those people that can play "Left4Dead" and "Gears of War" on my PC.

Still, I play my 360 once in a blue moon. Sure as hell don't touch the online anymore. Despite many people's arguments, the 360 doesn't really have any honest advantage aside from its online commnity/connectivity. It offers alot more net-based focus, but the PS3 just has a richer library and I'm one of those nit-picky bastards that hates paying for an online service that should be free to the user-base.
The graphical edge is nothing to scoff here in the HD age, I personally neve thought much of them until I played "Wipeout HD". All in all, I play it for Sony's exclusives, which are easily the highlight.

So, yes, if you have an HDTV the PS3 is probablly your best console choice.

I preordered my PS3 at a price of £425 (at the time, that was about $850). I still believe it was worth it, especially as it's one of the now-non existent versions to have full (with about a five game exception) backward compatibility with both PS2 and PSone, four USB ports and the little flap on the front that opens to reveal three card readers.

In my opinion, it's worth its price for the stuff like the Blu-ray player (even without an HDTV, you still get some nice extras on BRs compared to DVDs). However, it's probably not as good a deal for people already owning a 360 since the majority of the PS3 games released are on 360 too.

I only reccomend a ps3 because there is no God Of War III on the 360, however if your into the high-def revolution and blu-rays then by all means it's an intelligent buy.
