i own both, i got my ps3 out of a tv package deal, but i alomost never play it because what ever exclusives it has just dont really appeal. yeah the online is free, when it works, but the online community is not up to snuff with LIVE.

also all the extra stuff on the ps3 like the browser and blu-ray...meh...no better than the computer next to your HD xbox.....

and this is just a personal opinion, but the xbox 360 controller is a better fit than the playstations.

just look at the exclusives and make your choice based on that.
also the 360 has more FPS,s and the PS3 more JRPG,s.

Paying for Xbox live. Why pay for internet you already pay for? I wouldn't buy an Xbox 360. I would get a PS3 even with the PSN thing. Thats over I doubt they will make that mistake twice.

I only have a PC.
Why pay for World of Warcraft? Why pay for EverQuest? Why pay for Star Wars Galaxies? Etc. etc. You are paying for a very good service. So, you are saying you wouldnt buy a 360. Why, because you have to pay $60 a YEAR for the gold online service? Thats your only reason? This argument is really getting old.
Not everyone can afford three MMO subscripting and an Xbox live account. They all add up. It's a point that everyone should think about. Not everyone is well off. It doesn't matter if if one account or four. Can you afford that on going cost. Is it worth that extra cost.

To me it's not.

360 - Better online VS PS3 - Free Online
360 - More exclusive games VS PS3 More QUALITY exclusives
Hardware = The same, very litte difference

All in all, it is all down to specifics, if you prefer some things over another, buy one, we can recommend stuff, but its all down to your opinion or preferences at the end of the day.

I can't afford an xbox live sub AND my phone contract at the same time, my job doesn't pay that much. If Xbox Live ever creates a 'Pay as you play' system (since I'm not online very often), and they allow me to use a PS3 controller on it (since the xbox controller is about as comfortable to me as a classic controller (aka, not at all) ), then I might get a 360...maybe...if they assured me they don't die after a few months (I assume the RRoD has been fixed?)

Op - As everyone else here has said, it depends on what you are looking for in a machine. Whether its extra hardware (Blue-ray reader) or exclusives or online multiplayer. Look at the two machines and their games then make a choice on what you need/want. I do mainly single-player stuff, so the Free PSN is great for me if I do decide to go online. Also, apparently text-chat is much easier on a PS3 than a 360 (according to one of my 360-owner friends, never used it myself so take this with a pinch of salt)

Look at the exclusives on both consoles and choose the one you think has better exclusives is you are on the fence on exclusives and want advice post the exclusives you think are good and we will give a PERSONAL(our opinion may differ from yours) yay or nay.
+ 1.
Although keep in mind the PS3 doubles as a bluray player - if you need/want one. Otherwise, it really is up to what exclusives appeal more to you.
Deep down we are all fanboys (to a small degree) therefore are all biased, so dont bother asking lol :p

honestly then? exclusives barely matter. just about every game worth playing is on both, and the actual technical differences between the two aren't as pronounced as you might think. I'd say get what your friends have, honestly. No matter what you get, if you can't play with your friends you're going to regret your decision.

Or if that doesn't matter, you seem to like Halo, so 360 I suppose. Paying $60 a year for live really just isn't that big of a deal, unless you are really strapped for cash, and didn't plan on buying many new games to begin with.

I can't really see any difference between the two graphics-wise. Most of the time now the only thing I've really used the PS3 for is the PS1 stuff on the store. I'd say it's down to exclusives, if you prefer Halo go for 360. If you want to do online stuff then go with the console most of your friends have.

Get whatever one feels "right" for you. The PS3 has better exclusives, IMHO, but the 360 usually gets a better technical version of multi-platform games.

Be advised, though: I've owned one single PS3 since I bought it, yet I went through two broken 360's before I ultimately just gave up on the system.

Good day to you all. I have been saving money for a time and now i would like to use it on a new console, (i only have a Wii) but i don't really know what console i should buy. PS3 has good hardware, (that's what my buddies told me) but i really, REALLY like the Halo Series.(not that i think that you are stupid, but here's a link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halo_(series) link end) and i also know that most of the games are released for PS3 AND 360, (and soon, ((probably)) for Wii U, too) like Crysis 2, but is there a diffrence? I know that the PS network is free, and that XBLA costs, but is XBLA safer? PLEASE, share your thoughts and personal experience!
PS3 owner here, Xbox and Playstation have practically the same features regarding their stores and apps like Netflix and such. I really like the free multiplayer and what not, but if you REALLY dig the Halo series then go for the Xbox. And honestly, there is rarely a noticeable difference between graphics on either console.

The exclusives can be deceptive - you can't compare Halo to Killzone for instance, because only an idiot would say that Killzone is better than Halo.
That's entirely down to opinion, the only Halo game I can say blew me away was Halo 1, after that I got bored of the series and after playing Reach only last year, I can tell that excitement I got from playign the first one won't be coming back in full storm any time soon.

.

Well xbox is yet to be hacked XD
But yer if you enjoy halo then you will love xbox to death.
also kinect is a worthwhile experience.

PS3 is better if you looking for a media center but im not keen on their first party titles at all. for me most their exclusives are like Michael Bay films (lots of explosions)
Whereas Xboxs are slow thoughtful and artistic? Most games these days are like michael bay films, because michael bay films sell
I never claimed they were? its just xbox games tend to have something called gameplay which tends to take the back seat in games like uncharted kill zone and resistance.
You're making a sweeping statement, Killzone and Resistance were filled with gameplay enough to quench the thirst of SCIFIFPS fanatics who didn't have Halo. They aren't Halo and in good reasoning too because after playing 5 Halo games (excluding Wars) soon to be 7, PS3 owners will want an FPS with something a little different.

As for Uncharted, I have no clue what you are talking about, hands down one of the most gameplay filled games I've played in a long time and Multiplayer I found to be even more enjoyable then Gears multiplayer simply because it's more flexible.

I have a hunch you are just trying to find reasons to lower the credibility of the first party PS3 games, its cool that they aren't your thing, but at least make comments that have some truth behind them :/

I have a PS3 and a 360. I got the 360 first and almost all of my games are for the 360.

If you have big hands, the PS3 controller is too small. The thumbsticks also feel a little less accurate, but honestly I hardly play my PS3.

Dunno if someone has already said this but i would say wait abit longer (if you can) due to the stuff going on about the next set of consoles Sony and Microsoft are putting out, just until they give like a release date or specs or something, i dunno just my opinon on the matter. I own all the consoles and would say I like the xbox better but thats mainly because most of my mates have one as well and we play alot of online games.

Sigh.

360 is cheap, lots of games, great for chilling with friends, and since it is easily the most popular system, your more likely to have friends who also have 360's.

PS3 has much better exclusives, and shinier graphics at times, but you need to really look at what games you can only get on here to see if it is worth it for you. (GOW, Killzone, Uncharted, etc)

I personally own all 3 systems, and definably played my 360 the most, although I am definably glad I own a PS3 whenever I see a really good exclusive game coming out.

Fair enough. :) Obviously, it is to me, but I can understand too that it doesnt have room in everyones budget, for whatever reason. Even more so in these economically challenging times.

The first thing that sold me on buying a PS3 was the controller. I have small hands so the Xbox controller feels bulky and uncomfortable, while the PS3 controller fits perfectly.
The second thing was that I had more friends with PS3s than Xboxes, and I wanted to play online with them.
The exclusives came as a happy surprise. I dislike the Halo series and the other Xbox exclusives are either crap or on PC, while the PS3 has inFamous (which I've loved every second of), Uncharted (while I don't find it as great as other people, it's still fun), and even Heavy Rain was a lot of fun.
All in all, I'm happy I bought a PS3. I don't think I'll ever get an Xbox.

360 has more exclusives but many are cheap download-ables or early games that don't hold up well graphically. The PS3 exclusives really push the limits of the hardware but I honestly find most of them to be tedious cinematic bullshit. I like the 360 more, the PS3 has next to no worthwhile games while the 360 is really turning into a bastion of arcade gaming, it easily destroys the embarrassing doujin and euroshmups on PSN.
