If you want Graphics and good single player games then ps3 but if you want to only play online then xbox, ps3 may have free online but xbox has more people online.

I own both and both have their uses. Here is my honesty for as far as what I do with them.
- The PS3 is better about streaming videos from my PC without a lot of hiccups. Blu-Ray support is always nice too.
- My 360 can stream some formats but tends to have a massive shit fit about it... even when using Windows Media Center.
- I bought the 360 for Samurai Warriors 2 Empires. I kept it for Mass Effect.
- I bought the PS3 for Metal Gear Solid 4. I kept it for Valkyria Chronicles.
- The PS3 has very few exclusive games I found worth buying but at this point, but I'm probably going to start getting my multi-platform titles for it instead.
- The 360 has most of my games already and gets much more frequent use for now.
- Either controller is fine, though I think my 360 controllers have been subject to more wear much more quickly. My left analog stick likes to drift left every now and then.
- The PlayStation token controller shape is always familiar. I find the L2 and R2 "triggers" on the PS3 version awkward and wish they had just kept them as buttons. I tend to pinch my fingers in them accidentally.
- My 360 is an older Pro machine and has had a GPU failure out of warranty, costing me $100.00 for repairs 3 customer support calls to fucking India later.
- The PS3 is known for a much lower failure rate and is another reason I will begin to buy more multi-platform titles for it.
- I'm also a PC gamer and can generally find games for either console for it at $10 less... and usually of higher quality.

i like the 360 because all my friends are on there, the games get better DLC support ( GTA IV, fallout 3) and i don't like how you have to install PS3 games when you first play them
Frankly, i had an XBOX, it had better graphics than a PS2, and when the guys at Microsoft ditched the console directly without warning or anything and not making games anymore for it, i felt betrayed, at least they could have done like Sony with the PS2, by releasing some games for both consoles, but that's why i have a PS3 now, i like the service, the choice of games and surely, there won't be another disappointment. i hope so.

I like the PS3, I have one. and it's never steered me wrong although all these exclusivity deals with Microsoft putting the Rock Band games back is fucking annoying. On the plus side though it's a great solid system
X-Box is also really good it's certainly better than the last X-box, and I love the controller I've got one for my computer. It's awesome. Also there's alot more games out for it.

I'm currently thinking of buying a console for myself for Christmas. Thanks to this thread i got some good (and a little bit of flaming/useless) info about them both. So, i thank You, Con Crane, for making an useful poll , at least for some(even tough i still haven't completely decided ,but leaning to the PS slim for my own reasons).
Also: i am new to the forums but there isnt a really big flame going on here, so i hope people like this

Ho-hum. This is a good one. I love to prod fun at people I know with PS3's, but mostly because I find the chance to see what arguments we both can come up with are fun. I don't bother with strangers because they usually just end up going 'fanboy' and 'red ring of death' on me.
If I had to choose I'd say the 360, but mostly because I feel like Sony sort of went off in the wrong direction on the initial talk and advertising. When the 360 hit the market they were considering the price point for the PS3. After the $400 price passed pretty well with people they went up to...what was it, $600 I believe? With the incorporated blu-ray player its simple to imagine why, but when it comes to the parent buying for their child how does blu-ray even come into the picture when A; they may not know if it became the dominant format (it did, but still) B; they may not possess an HDTV, making it utterly fruitless to have one C; the price of blu-ray was sky-high just so you could see the mole on Daniel Craig's face in the James Bond movie.
To top that off for me I always found it amusing remembering how I once read that Sony promised complete backwards compatibility, trying to trumph Microsoft's statement about 'doing their best to make as many popular games backwards compatible.' In the end what do we have now? If the PS3 was completely backwards compatible I'd consider more my thoughts on buying. That's right. I own a 360 and I think about getting a PS3. Let the gasping commence, but the fact of the matter is I'm no fanboy. I just know what my opinion is. On top of that I know I can't 'suppport' my gaming habits for two consoles. Its inconceivable. OT: XBOX 360. Despite flaws, I like the system interface (Dashboard), love the controllers, and enjoy the fact that...well, I can't really think of another reason lol.
