Everyone in Canada hates Quebec.
EVERYONE. We're actually looking to trade them for Alaska, I'm talking to you Obama.
...This does not fit into my plans for the creation of the independant nation of Ulusku...hmm, perhaps I could use the merging of our state to your country as a springboard?

Anyway, I haven't heard much of Quebec in the news, I guess the rest of Canada would prefer it that way, right?
Yah its kind of like your annoying little sister, you try to avoid having your friends know she exists, cause all she does is embarrass you.

I called EBGAMES in Montreal (Des Jockeys/Decarie Location) and spoke to the french manager there. Apparently this law is not as it sounds. Before the stores were forced to get both versions of a game or the multilingual version or they were not PERMITTED to sell the English one. The NEW law is the language police BACKTRACKING. Apparently as long as there is a french VERSION of the game ANYWHERE on the PLANET then they can sell the game in English. They don't need to have a french version on their shelves. This "new" law was a modification to the old (already racist) one. Wow they are such a-holes!!

Anyway, suffice to say this is a good thing, not a bad one. Just disguised as bad.

I am SICK and TIRED of the Quebecois throwing tantrums every time they're bored. They're the Canadian equivalent of the spoiled brat everyone else wishes would go away (at least from the western perspective).

Wow, they really want people to hate them don't they?

And I didn't even hate them before, just disliked them thanks to all the preconceptions out there about them, including that they are dicks.

Now that I know that they really are dicks, not only will I hate them, I won't feel bad for doing it.

Note: I'm not saying I'm going to hate everyone from Quebec from now on, just these insecure Fascist assholes.

(sigh) Each time we have something against Quebec...

Let me explain what's happening.

You have 3 major party in office right now. The liberals, the parti-québécois and the ADQ (Action démocratique du Québec). The only two you need to worry about are the liberals and especialy the parti-québéçois.

Liberals tries to keep things in order for the province and stick with Canada. In any situation which the people of Quebec are unhappy, they try to keep the peace. Since Quebec culture is so god damn important for the Québécois, this law comes in. Things tends to quiet down for a while.

The Parti-Québécois is one of the major problems here. A. It wants to leave Canada B. It pressures Canada to do something when they're. Resulting in something that seems like favoritism.

Someone said that France doesn't go ape shit for the "french-first" like Québec does. Now, think about this. For a few hundred years, those guys were bitched around for their language. Beleive me, the english population tried to assimilate them ever since they conquered the place. They're trying to keep their identity intact.

Problem is: they treat everyone in their province like Canada did too them. This is where this law is controversial.

Silly french canadians. This is pretty stupid, I Never even knew about the french first laws until now. seems pretty unnecessary and more counter productive than anything.
Check out the movie "Canadian Bacon"

Some American asshole, who hates Canada, puts stickers like "fuck Canada" "Canada blows" and others all over his van. When he tried to cross the border the attendant there does not get angry about the signs, rather he forces the American to make at least 40% of his signage french.

K, I just read that and it is not funny in text. Check out the movie.
you mean the one by Fatty McDicksucker? yeah i seen it. i'm pretty sure his point was trying to show the American public how much Canada hates them

I wonder how many french copies a retailer would actually sell in Quebec, I don't think it would be to many at all and would just be a waste of time and money. Targeting a very small part of your demographic is never a good thing.

Witness, my friends from around the world, the reason why I no longer live in Quebec; the "Tongue Troopers" (and their bomb-throwing fellow travellers in the early '70s) made Dad's company so uncomfortable that they upped stakes and moved to Ontario to get away from such batshit lunacy... and asked Dad to come with them. So Montreal lost a BIG business (Fortune 100, probably near the top at the time) and all the jobs it provided, sacrificed on the altar of cultural purity.

I understand why the quebecois want to preserve their cultural identity, but legislating it isn't the way.

i know a few companies that either boycott quebec due to the language laws, 7-11 is one, or they show the stupidity of the laws, such as futureshop

in 7-11's case they were not allowed to be called Seven-Eleven they had to change it to Sept-Onze due to the language laws, they refuse to operate in quebec because of this

now futureshop takes a more humourous approach. for those that don't know futureshop is a Canadian best buy, so they have big huge signs in the store. now the law states to have a sign in english it must also be in french but half the size of the french sign. so futureshop has it's normal big huge signs in english and then has gigantic signs in french that are very hard to read

most of the laws were enacted to ensure there was french in the province but now they are taking it too far and bordering on being illegal. if these laws were enacted anywhere else in Canada they would be tossed out

I cant wait till french becomes a dead language, supposedly if you go buy the scientific community and advertising it won't be too long :D
We can but hope. Simple English is predicted to take over as the international language eventually - so, I think it'll be 'Everyone has a first language, and simple english'.

Nicolas Sarkozy's dick?
Well, don't mock Nicolas too much. He seems to actually realise the French are a pretious bunch of arse's who think they won WW2 single handed and he's trying to knock some sense into them.

A sensable Frenchman is as rare as rocking horse shit, so more of them can't be a bad thing!

Amen. I had almost forgotten how pants-on-head retarded Quebec can be when it comes to their French first bullshit. Just separate already and ferme ta fucking gueule!
