Question for the Brony Community

I have a question for Bronies. How come when ever someone or something "offends" Bronies or the community at large the whole sub-culture flies into a rage and attacks everyone and everything in sight? Now I have never watched or care to watch My Little Pony ever, I love Adventure Time. I dont label myself as "Non-Brony" and I dont really care if you label me a such. I just wanna know why Brony are always so defensive?

Some crazies (AKA rabid fanboys) who don't like people attacking their favourite show react rather poorly to criticism of it. The only reason bronies may seem to have a reputation for it is because they are a big community so there are more likely to have more crazies and therefore more incidents.

In other words, this behaviour is definitely not confined to bronies.

Well I think that would be a generalization...a very radical one at that. The ones that "fly into a rage" are the loudest...there for the ones you hear...yadda yadda...been said before and better. XD

But if you are asking why those people are defensive....well one the show is something they love.... saying that you dislike things people like usually sets that person off no matter the subject...it happens with video games all the time. XD (you said x game sucks?! arhahrhghghahg)

Another reason is that the general opinion of Bronies (general public that is) is not very positive....so that leads to people being on the defensive when it comes to the topic of (again) something they enjoy.

Idunno. I guess you've been getting your brony news from the wrong places. Sure, there's some fans that pretty much absorbs "bronydom" as their life, and they'll get defensive when someone criticizes it, because, well, they're in turn criticizing their way of life.

But rest assured, they are few. Us here on the escapist are actually pretty chill about it all.

First and foremost we have a sweeping generalisation, A does X, A is a Y, therefore All Y's do X

In which any answer to "I just wanna know why Brony are always so defensive?" other than the OP's view is wrong. Repudiating or refuting the question lands you in danger of being accused of being defensive. The OP hasn't asked if they are defensive or even why they are defensive (Still a bad question) but why they are so defensive.

We also have an implied "No true Scotsman" going on, the OP has stated that the Brony community is likely to attack or fly into a rage, should you suggest that you personally aren't like that then the implied follow up argument is that you aren't a "true" Brony.

They fly into a collective rage because there's enough of them to where they can lash back and seethe together. Back when this was more of a niche thing, we took the insults and jokes with a sense of humor and just let them slide. Now it's quite a bit more embarrassing to be associated with the fanbase.
