Hahaha... No. I haven't touched Pokemon since I was 14. An MMOG of it doesn't appeal to me at all.

I haven't touched Pokémon since getting all 150 in red/blue. Not sure I would be into an MMOG, but if the features were pretty good I might take a look, but then again I have a feeling that the resulting online community would send me running for the hills.

I'm sure I'd give it a shot. Not like I don't pick up a Pokemon game every now and then to pass the time.

TO answer the poll question, my answer would be:
Id pick it up and give it a whirl for curiosity's sake, but I' only become a long term player if it wasn't grind-tastic and lets face it MMOG and Pokemon both are rather lent to the grind.

No: I don't play MMOs. Every big MMO has monthly or, some other type of recurring fee and I am a strong believer in the, 'pay-once, play-forever' philosophy. Any Pokemon MMO would likely charge an arm and a leg and you would probably have to be a hyper-premium member to even have a chance at the not-quite-as-rare legendaries such as the L-Birds and, Roaming Dogs. People paying the minimum would be damned, with the rarest pokemon being Lucario, Scizor and/or other craptastic nothings

I would definitely play a Pokemon MMOG. I might dislike it after a while, but I would play it until I realized. My main concerns about it would be the community and the use of overpowered and/or legendary pokemon.

In the current games, it is nothing special to have a few (if not all) legendaries in your pokedex. So what makes them legendary? In my mind, they're legendary pretty much because the game tells me that this lugia or this celebi is special. Now if the creators made legendaries virtually impossible to find and defeat/capture, and if there was only, say, one zapdos per server or something, that would make them special. Not to mention it would make the pokemon universe more real to me.

I recently realized that in order to succeed in the pokemon universe (mainly the metagame), you have to think almost entirely in numbers. What effort values will make my togekiss the most effective in battle? What dragon type move has the highest power while still maintaining accuracy? At a certain point it stops being about enjoying the fantasy of running around with these fantastic creatures and starts being about playing to win. I enjoy the fantasy aspect of the pokemon games, but I'm worried that an MMOG would be overrun with people who care nothing for stories and escape and only care about number of wins versus number of losses. I admit that many, if not all, MMOGs have a population of such players; and money is money, so Nintendo wouldn't care; but if a pokemon MMOG happened, I hope that the community isn't full of assholes.

Wow, this got longer than I thought. TL;DR: I'd definitely play, but with reservations about the community and how the established pokemon universe works.

Would be a definitive maybe if these is some serious change to the way the game is taken..

If it follow the current trend of grind, 0 innovation, broken system, stupid scenario, and the same usual brain-dead setting.. no, just no.

If it was free to play and required no Download, I might give it a try.

I like the games but online usually means a ton of morons, and some MMOG's require monthly payments... so no.

No. I have nothing to elaborate on with this response. Just, quite simply, no.

However, I will say I applaud the grass-roots effort to make the game and it's too bad that Big N squashed it instead of picking it and the devs up in an attempt to make it something official.

Err..

Yes and no.

Yes for- It would be fucking amazing.

No for- I just have a feeling that the PvP wouldn't take off quite right.

..and I don't want other players just gathering and spamming all the legendaries.

If PvP was not mandatory, and the world was more expansive, or at least connected to the areas in the original games, then I might try something like that.

I would play it, it could be awesome, depends on how they go about things.

For PvP as long as you have some indication of the strength of other trainers/players before playing them in a game it should be fine, like in WoW(just an example don't hit me) how you can see the opponents level, health/mana and gear before accepting a duel (or deciding whether to sneak up and attack them or not) so a Pokemon MMO would need a look at his/her squad button.

Plus a choice of where you start? How open world should it be? Should legendaries be catchable or should they simply be a challange to beat like a dungeon boss or something? After defeating the elite four then what? the different continent thing like Gold/Silver did? should the Gyms there autoscale up depending on the number of badges you have? Would we be allowed to roam randomly over the map or should there be a strict no way off the preditermined roads and patheways?
