Since the Doctor is a HE and Tine Lords can only change apperance and not gender its not possile. A black Doctor however would be awesome.

The Doctor is a man. Gallifreyans have separate biological sexes, this has already been established, so it makes no sense for him to come back as a woman. It would be totally against all the canon of the show.

Not to be sexist, but having the doctor regenerate as a woman is like having Raj Al' Ghoul come out of the Lazarus pit as a woman. It's just nonsense. The character is a male, and should always remain male.

On top of that, he's got a daughter ladies...a daughter that has the same amount of knowledge that he does. So we already have a Time Lady running around! What would it be like having them meet up again and having Jenny say "Hi Dad- I mean...er...mum? Wha?"

Like I said. The Doctor regenerating as a woman is nonsense. Sorry ladies :).

I totally agree- Dr. Moon from "Silence in the Library" would make an awesome Doctor I think!!

Sadly, I have never watched Dr. Who, but I've heard a lot about it. (I will definitely watch it sometime soon. If college doesn't get in the way.)
But I think they should keep Dr. Who a man. If Dr. Who was a woman, it would be too much like suddenly making... I dunno, the next Batman a woman, but still insisting she was Batman. It'd be weird and pointless.

Very true I didn't think of this. I guess you're right, he could be a woman. Although I will say that it would be strange.
Yeah, it would take some getting used to. Though frankly, the Doctor being my age has taken some getting used to and I think Matt Smith is working out okay. Even David Tennant was a little too young compared to my first memories of the show.

Basically it all comes down to the actress and the writing. I think the actress who plays River Song has the right vibe going and could have done it. On the other hand, the actress from "The Doctor's Daughter" made a terrible Time Lady. Or clone thing. Whatever she was. That would be terrible if it went that direction.

I don't understand why you would want a female Doctor. If it is some sort of feminist thing then I really don't get it. That is saying that there can't be a original heroine that is cool so you have to supplant an established male hero. Its like some sort of weird inferiority complex. It's like making Batman black. Never mind all the awesome heroes that were already black. i.e. Luke Cage. Its like unless a hero starts off as a white male then they are no good. You have to ret-con them to appeal to females and other elasticities. Is that what people want to say? That successful characters need to be white males and then you can make them into other types of characters.

It'd be a nice change of pace I think but it should be temporary.

[sub][sub][sub]I've only watched only 7 episodes[/sub][/sub][/sub]

I don't watch Doctor Who, I've tried and it doesn't interest me. But I always say that everything needs a fresh face once in a while. Its not always the character but who plays it that makes the series.
(example: Ron Perlman makes Sons of Anarchy IMHO)

I'll keep my stance that the next doctor should be played by someone who can act (not that any of the past eleven couldn't, mind) regardless of what their undercarriage looks like.

Maybe if they did it right it might work if they did it just right and only for like 2 episodes

I can't vote because I'm not totally familiar with the canon. Maybe he's a male time lord and thus only changes into a male? maybe they don't have a sex?

I can't really accurately vote because I'm not fully familiar with the canon. Maybe he changes into makes because he's a male time lord? Does his race have different sexes?

I'd say sure, go for it, but then we wouldn't get as many scenes where our aloof friend gets pushed against a wall by Karen Gillam and has the living daylights snogged out of him, or where Madame du Pompador takes her imaginary childhood savior and helps him introduce the banana daiquiri off-screen. And the lack of female companions would get a little tiresome (because you know there would be fewer).

Honestly on one hand I don't have a problem with a female Doctor, but on the other hand I don't see how things would be improved by doing it. I think it just wouldn't pay off to make the effort, so why bother?

Nah, it wouldn't make sense, since there have been female time lords in the old series which clearly indicate Time Lords have genders.
