They changed a lot of stuff, keeping The Doctor male is good for familiarity. That and if they change his gender it'd most likely be bring on by a very shaky plot.
they did that already, he was genetically cloned and as such has a "daughter" it was left open for a spinoff, and thankfully it has not been taken further.tommyopera said:I think re-boots tend to encourage lazy writing. If Dr. Who was a Man then Create a woman in a whole new manner with her own plot devices without changing the canon. I don't watch Dr. who btw.
not sexist, just misogynistic, also its allowed as a time lord visited me in the 50s but i was stranded here in the early 21st centuryArkhangelsk said:That was a very funny, but a bit offensive sexist joke.lukey94 said:Nurse Who doesn't sound right though! :O
Hahahaha. I thought about that for a moment, but I don't think they would be allowed to call it Doctor Who because of copyright reasons...Davey Woo said:Yes the Doctor should be a woman, at least once.
And the companion should still be a woman...
And they should love each other...
And the program should be moved to after 9:00...
Someone's not familiar with Torchwood, where such a scenario was probably played out several times a season. (Actually, perhaps it's better you're not familiar with Torchwood, considering the quality of the writing.)Davey Woo said:Yes the Doctor should be a woman, at least once.

They kind of did that with Jenny, she is clone from The Doctor's DNA. (Episode: The Doctor's Daughter. From Tennant's last full season, 4.) We should be seeing episodes where she come back, probably this next season coming up.tommyopera said:I think re-boots tend to encourage lazy writing. Like the Star Trek Re-boot....... Yes the universe would implode if they made The Doctor a female, it would implode worse than it did in Matt Smith's season. It might not seem possible, but trust me, it is.Synonymous said:Someone's not familiar with Torchwood, where such a scenario was probably played out several times a season. I'd be happy to see a female Doctor. It'd be a refreshing move in a series that's always up for something new, and he's had such a variety of forms that a female one is hardly going to implode the universe.
I hope you aren't being sarcastic, because I would be wasting a post then.BenzSmoke said:I don't watch Doctor Who. But, I want to...
For 11 incarnations since 1963, The Doctor has always been male. Yes there are female time lords. There were many that appeared in the old series, The Doctor even had an evil female time lord rival called The Rani.Payne121 said:I can't vote because I'm not totally familiar with the canon. Maybe he's a male time lord and thus only changes into a male? maybe they don't have a sex?
I am a huge Doctor Who nerd and I would quit watching if they did change him into a woman, it would break canon and instantly make the show unwatchable. The Jakeinator said:Sounds interesting. So sure, why not? Nothing like a subtle twist to get the nerds whining, but continue watching.
Sorry, I have to point this out. The correct terminology for a female Time Lord is a Time Lady. The Escapist Staff said:If the current Doctor Who canon wasn't an issue, how would you feel about a Time Mistress?
