Question of the Day, October 17, 2010

Going off of yesterday's question - which fantasy novel series would you like to see turned into a TV show?

I voted Discworld, but I'd love to see Stephen King's The Dark Tower series turned into a television series.

a few Discworlds have already been made into TV miniseries/feature length episodes. Were surprisingly good too.

Since Discworld and LotR have both been done reasonably well before, I voted Wheel of Time. The Dark Tower series would probably make a better show but I think I'd get more entertainment out of complaining about everything they did to RUIN WoT FOREVER!

Hell yes to Discworld. And it hasn't been made into any series', there has just been some one and two part specials of the books made. A new one would be better focusing on a new character that meets or happens to find themselves in the events of the discworld. Or Death, following him around would be pretty good.

None, None, NONE!!!

If there is any book series that is well-loved enough for us to want more, it is well-loved enough to not want it bastardized as a TV series. What they've done with the existing Discworld TV movies is ok, and what they're doing with the Game of Thrones miniseries on HBO looks promising, but a regular TV series? No thank you!

The Vlad Taltos saga. Seriously, TV Series need a good cast of memorable recurring characters, and that series has plenty. Plus the books are set up perfectly for a TV series; short little adventures linked together by an intriguing, but not overly important overarching plot.

I feel that discworld would be hard to make as great as a tv series.

I voted for WoT because, really, the way it is written lends itself to the episodic format.

This. I also recommend reading Darren Shan's Vampire Series aswell, if you haven't read that. That should be a TV series too!

I'd have to go Temeraire. A series that was 50% Sharpe and 50% erm... something with dragons gets my vote. Although if it was a series it'd probably end up with really dodgy CGI.

Hrmm...

Well, I'm gonna have to go with A, C, D & E.

Discworld, The Wheel of Time, A Song of Ice & Fire, and Magician?

...I can't possibly pick between those.
