In my state this is a big part of politics. There have been arguments that a gay couple would not be able to take care of a child properly because of the impact it could have on the child of his/her parents being a gay couple.
That kind of talk only encourages that attitude. Gay couples are part of the real world and this will not stop coming up as an issue. If the government makes it illegal for them to...

You know what, I've already jumped into enough American politics for the moment. I just hope logic wins this battle.
It's America, Logic is suffering from malnutrition, scurvy and is armed with nothing but a McDonalds coupon for a buy one get one free breakfast meal... and it's already past 10:30...<.<
wtf how does this deserve getting probied for? fucking mods, seriously.

[ninja'dbyCompetingMantis]Though I don't think a gaming community is a really accurate representation of the public's views on this issue, so since this is for a class, I'd be sure to state where you got your information.[/ninja'dbyCompetingMantis]

I'm afraid it's an objective fact (brought to us by the Gods) that any other opinion is invalid.

I'm a Christian so I'm against gay marriage. The only reason I answered 'disagree' instead of 'strongly disagree' on the third question is because saying strongly disagree would open the floodgates for all sorts of other things that they 'shouldn't be allowed to do.'

I don't think gays are bad people, they don't have any less rights than strait people do. They aren't stupid. But its hard for them to make a case that a gay couple raising a child wont impose their views in the child. Directly or indirectly the child will be affected in a way that will shift their views toward becoming homosexual instead of choosing for themselves.

the only view they could 'impose' on them is that homosexuality is ok, which is obviously no different than you teaching your kid that its not ok for homosexuals to do some things (which btw, would pretty clearly mean they have less rights). homosexuality is not comunicable. you cannot choose something which is biologically hardwired, its like trying to say a white child brought up by a black couple would grow up to have black skin. even if it was possible using that logic you could say that no gay child should be brought up by a straight couple otherwise it could influence them to become straight rather than choosing for themselves, unless thats not a problem because gays are inherently bad and it would be better for the child to be pushed towards being straight?
bit of a rant but the logical inconsistency and hypocrisy inherent in these supposedly moderate arguments irritates me.
