You heard me, a war has broken out in your country and you need to find a way to survive, however due to being rushed you only have the time to collect two items

1) Something to defend/shield yourself with
2) Something to attack with

However, you may only select items from the room you are currently in (no cheating) and you are not permitted to choose items that were designed to be weapons or shields.

I would choose the door off my mini fridge as a shield (its thick, it might help) as my shield. And as my weapon, my guitar, it can be used in so many ways.

Your turn.

I'm in Canada, so this is more or less impossible. I'll just sit back and let the US army take care of it.

On a more (or perhaps less) serious note, the metal pencil sharpener has a nice handle and can be a good blunt weapon. I can take out a piece of wood from my book case for use as a shield.

Collaboration with the enemy isn't an option? The way America's going I think I'd rather take my chances with occupation.

(on topic, I've got a length of steel wire I can use as a garrote and for defense...well, I could pop the side panel off my computer and use it as a crude shield but I think I'd need both hands free to garrote someone.)

Does my practice foil count as a weapon? It's got a rubber thingy on the tip so it can't really hurt anyone.

I think the casing on the side of my computer could work as a shield....

Wait a second! I'm in Maine! Who would invade here?

For defense: A metal wastebin.

For attack: Starfish. That's right, motherfucking starfish.

Whatever army is attacking me better back the fuck up.

I don't get it.

Why is my neighbourhood the target? Why would a mini-fridge protect me against enemy soldiers and their automatic carbines?

This isn't the medieval ages. War wouldn't just break out without ANY information regarding where, why and when.
Sense this no makes.

On-topic, I would grab a spoon in an attempt to get close enough to scratch the paintjob of their tanks.

Well I can pull part of my monitor case off and sharpen it into a sharp metal blade and probably use my monitor as a fragile but still metal and hard shield.

1) The Geneva Convention! Which is everywhere.

2) If I had something to attack with, that would make me a combatant, wouldn't it?

For Defence: Part of this desk, can use as sheild.
For Offence: My foil. Fear the non threatening dullness!

Could you remove said rubber thingy? Then maybe break off the tip ever so slightly so it's jagged?

I live in England, the country which has never been invaded(YET).

So I'm pretty chilled out about it.

I never said what sort of war, it could be a civil war where other people would be in the same situation, therefore if they have weapons from their houses then a shield from yours could help to limit the damage

So that rules out my Battleaxe and Viking Shield then, I guess for defence I would use a thick pine tabletop and for offense I would use a snapped metal bar from a chair. For all the huge help they would both do against an army.
