Dammit, you ninja'd me!

Most of the lyrics in your average Rammstein song are pretty creepy, they have the best lyrics of any band that i know off. Here is an english translation of their song "Adios"

He puts the needle inside the vein
Asks the music to come in
Between his throat and forearm
The melody goes softly through the bones
He has his eyes closed
In his blood a battle rages
An army marches through his bowel
The intestines slowly become warm

Nothing is for you
Nothing was for you
Nothing is left for you
Forever

He takes the needle from the vein
The melody leaves the skin
Violins burn with screams
Harps cut their flesh

He opened his eyes
But he is not awake

Nothing is for you
Nothing was for you
Nothing is left for you
Forever

"When the Dark One's armies swooped down upon the lands of Manetheren, the men of the Mountain Home stood before it, with their backs to the Tarendrelle. The host that faced the men of Manetheren was enough to daunt the bravest heart. Ravens blackened the sky; Trollocs blackened the land... At night their cookfires outnumbered the stars and dawn revealed the banner of Ba'alzamon at their heads... Hold for three days against odds that should overwhelm them in the first hour. Yet somehow, through bloody assault and desperate defence, they held through an hour, and the second hour, and the third. For three days they fought, and though the land became a butcher's yard, no crossing of the Tarendrelle did they yield. By the third night no help had come, and they fought on alone. For six. For nine."

--Moiraine Sedai, recounting the fall of Manetheren

"Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit into Sightblinder's eye on the Last Day."

--Aiel Oath

"The rose petal floats on water. The kingfisher flashes above the pond. Life and beauty swirl in the midst of death."

--al'Lan Mandragoran

"Death rides on my shoulder, death walks in my footsteps. I am death."

--Lews Therin Telamon

"At the end of time, when the many become one, the last storm shall gather its angry winds to destroy a land already dying. And at its center, the blind man shall stand upon his own grave. There he shall see again, and weep for what has been wrought."

--The Gathering Storm

In fact, that whole conversation with him sent chills down my spine.
Yeah. I felt like I was talking to a god.

From the comic series The Invisibles:

Colonel Friday said:
Hear this: When our masters' work is done, every living thing will have the status of a machine. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love, there will be fear and distrust. Instead of surrender, there will be submission. We will replace contact with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept.

We will cover the earth with steel and with concrete. This planet will be a factory farm producing morons to fuel and maintain the factory engines and feed our masters. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains and live only to serve and die in anguish and ignorance. Look around you; the process is already in its final stages. And you, like everyone else, will take your place on the production line.

i don't get chills from quotes. But if i had to choose. I'd choose this.
He says it better then anyone.
I will concur with this. Every single time.
Also this, it's just really evocative and makes me imagine being at that first test, knowing at that moment when you felt the blast wave and saw that huge ball of flame just what it was that you had helped to unleash on the world.

'It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.'

-Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities

Alright, this calls for a couple of choice bits from Tom Waits, who does on the occasion that he feels the inclination to be creepy; send shivers up my spine.

"And the earth died screaming
While I lay dreaming
Dreaming of you"

-The Earth Died Screaming-

"There's a one-eyed man in the poker pit
They're digging up the dead with a shovel and a pick
The sun went down; the moon wept blood
A bloody jack of Diamonds, a plague and a flood"

-God's Away On Business-

And this next one I can't just quote one part of. Read the whole thing, it's creepy and paranoid and works well as a weird disjointed short story as it does a song

"What's he building in there?
What the hell is he building in there?

He has subscriptions to those magazines
He never waves when he goes by
He's hiding something from the rest of us
He's all to himself, I think I know why
He took down the tire-swing from the pepper tree
He has no children of his own, you see
He has no dog, he has no friends
And his lawn is dying
And what about those packages he sends?

What's he building in there?
With that hook light on the stairs
What's he building in there?
I'll tell you one thing, he's not building a playhouse for the children
What's he building in there?

Now what's that sound from underneath the door?
He's pounding nails into a hardwood floor
And I swear to God I heard someone moaning low
And I keep seeing the blue light of a TV show
He has a router and a table saw
And you won't believe what Mr. Sticha saw
There's poison underneath the sink of course
There's also enough formaldehyde to choke a horse

What's he building in there?
What the hell is he building in there?

I heard he has an ex-wife in some place called Mayors Income, Tennessee
And he used to have a consulting business in Indonesia
But what's he building in there?
He has no friends but he gets a lot of mail
I bet he spent a little time in jail
I heard he was up on the roof last night, signaling with a flashlight
And what's that tune he's always whistling?

What's he building in there?
What's he building in there?
We have a right to know"

-What's he building?-

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
What passing bells for those who die as cattle/Only the thunderous roar of the guns.
I mourn the death of thousands, but I will not celebrate the death of one man, even an enemy.

And my big quote about fairytales and liking 'childish' things like gaming and comics.

When I was ten I read fairytales in secret, and would have been ashamed to be caught doing so. Now I am fifty I read fairytales in the open. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of being thought childish.

Now, cookies to people who can guess the references. Especially the last two.
Last two are Martin Luther King, Jr. and CS Lewis, right?

OT: I always liked that one that someone else already posted about how it's not our darkness we fear, but our light or something. I'll find it.

EDIT: Got it.
VivaciousDeimos said:
You didn't specify good chills or scary chills....so good chills it is!

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

That's actually Harlan Ellison narrating the voice of AM as well.
Indeed, he's a good voice actor... though, I've heard some dislike his style.

Uhh...its a game...yeah

(Also a book but I might be wrong)

OT: The destruction of humanity will come from our own ignorance to not stop it.

My science teacher said that to our class after we had a discussion on environmental issues. Gave me chills for whatever reason.
