STAB has a lessened effect for dual type pokemon? Huh, guess I can still learn things about this game.

My favorite pokemon to use is Scizor, seriously, don't fuck with my Scizor, I hit the breeding jackpot with its IV's (I'm pretty sure its speed is 31 and it's attack is around 27)

Here's its moveset:

X-Scissor
Iron Head
U-Turn
Swords Dance

Love it, also it only has a SINGLE WEAKNESS (Fire, which unfortunately is a 4x weakness) so that is really nice.

Diglett/Dugtrio

Too damn fast to pass up, but terrible defense stats.
Oh, and Vileplume.
And Cloyster. They're my two favourite pokemon and I use them whenever I can.
Both have decent defenses, though Cloyster's Sp. Def is abysmal. One moderately powerful electric move and it's gone.
Plus, the lack of decent movepool is a real damager. You have to level up a Shellder to around 50 just to make us of Ice Beam.

EDIT:
And Beedrill.
So lame, yet so badass.

My brother has the same grievances about Flareon as the OP. As for me, my favourite Eeveeloution is Espeon. In Soulsilver, my Espeon became the teamleader and could steamroller most other Pokemon with very little trouble. I also love Snorlax.

Do Magicarp or Abra count?

I have a soft-spot for those two.

If not, the caterpie line of evolution. I just think they're pweety.
Funny you say that.

I saw a youtube video of a guy with a level 100 magikarp defeat an entire team of legendary pokemon (also level 100).

Someone want to quote me and post that vid? I can't find it. Funny stuff.
Yeah, I think I saw that. I believe he tanked with a focus band, and used flail after baton-passing a ton of attack and speed.

Come to think of it, I saw something similar with a caterpie...
Along with a Weedle sweep. Gen 5 also introduces the Level 1 Aron sweep.

Oh man, that was some nice meta-game thinking.

Too bad the other guy didn't have any ghost types.
Must think of new counter...
Well, the thing with the level 1 aron is that it is currently banned for use. Reasoning is that there are very little counters to it and you will always need one slot on your team to specifically counter it.
Exactly, as I said, all I can think of is a ghost.

However, I wonder who came up with it, or how long it took for it to occur to them.
Here's the Magikarp Sweep mentioned earlier:
youtube.com/watch?v=ye7b3bOQ6lY
And on the Aron sweep, couldn't something that resisted sadnstorm, something with Toxic or something with Roar or Whirlwind just end that sweep?

Heh. Funny this thread pops up as soon as I'm thinking about starting that copy of HeartGold I haven't really touched yet.

To maybe add something interesting to the discussion, maybe the OP can edit his post to include this, but what's a high tier Pokemon that you guys find boring?

Personally, I'd say Starmie. Yeah, he has a good moveset, great typing and excellent speed, but it's just so BORING looking.

Ah yes, thank you.

Still would need advance knowledge...
I see why it's banned.

Zangoose FTW.
Seriously, he sucked so much, until Gen 5.
With his new ability Poison Rampage though? Crazy powerful.
He's always had great attack and speed, but now he has an ability that doubles that attack when he's poisoned.
So Zangoose with maxed attack and speed, holding toxic orb, With Facade- double strength because of poison, plus STAB?

Man, I'd really hate to be a Seviper, that's all I'm saying.

Ive always picked my pokemon based on how they look, i never really cared about stats because i never did any online battles or anything like that. but flareon is my faveorite Eeveelution just because against the A.I. it doesnt matter!

but Arcanine is my favorite crappy pokemon of all time, i never got why it sucked when it looked so badass

I love when people make giant "God, this developer sucks, SCREW YOU [insert developer name here], L2MAKE GAMES", only because they actually really like their games.

This gets really bad on the WoW forums, you see pages and pages of people saying blizzard absolutely sucks at their job and how much they hate their class changes, but they keep playing the same character.

Getting passionate about a game? Totally understandable. But to get to the point of throwing verbal insults at the developers? You just went full retard.

Correct, those could work, you just have to ensure you don't damage the Aron with a move that would normally kill it. Keep in mind though, not a lot of teams carry Roar or Whirlwind, plus they are low priority moves, and Toxic will leave the user with only 12-13 hp, which it would most likely guarantee a revenge kill after the Aron is dead.

Isn't there an ability that prioritises non-damaging moves in Gen 5 now? Quick "GTFO, Aron" right there.

There's an ability that allows to increase the priority by one, but it's not enough to help matters.

I can't get into all this stat business. I've played Red, Blue, Yellow, Silver, Ruby, Fire Red and Diamond (400+ hours alone on Diamond) without using IV or EV or whatever, and I just can't get into it. I prefer using a squad that is well rounded and I like to look at.

The way you guys do it...all these numbers...so many numbers...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAH THE NUMBERS!!!

I remember back in the day when I played that game and had an all "Dragon" team.

Steelix
Lapras
Gyarados
Charizard
Kingdra
Dragonite

I always used to love Dratini. So cute and powerful. I don't know how long ago this was, but I'm thinking Gen 2 if I'm not mistaken. As for the OT - yes, Flareon was poorly overlooked for moves. I had a team of Eevee's as well, but I didn't level them to high levels because I had more of a passion for Dragon types. I wish they'd come out with a Steel/Dragon or a Dark/Dragon pokemon, especially if they incorporated a likeness to Bahamut as the Dark/Dragon type. Even cooler if they could make it's evolution similar to that of the Dragonite family. If they did that, I might think of getting into the game again.
