Wow! First time I've seen the battle screen for B&W. I may have to break down and get it. Passed on HG/SS because Diamond/Pearl disappointed me, but this looks SWEET.

DAMN! Ninja'd by Polock! XD

Flareon is the fire evolution?

Yeah, he is useless... I always get the Jolteon in the old games and Espeon in the newer ones.

I like flaeron's design, but yeah, his movepool and/or his stats suck (i.e. they don't work together at all.)

There are great alternatives, though, like Arcanine, Ninetales, and Rapidash. And the fire starters.

I always had a soft spot for Venusaur, if only for nostalgia. It's not Meganium bad
Meganium can tank like a *****. Sunny Day + Solarbeam + Synthesis, say goodbye to your ass. Or throw on Reflect and Light Screen to tank anything, and leave Synthesis and Magical Leaf. Shame that it's got five weaknesses, but there aren't very many good bug or poison types anyway.

Captcha: flastoad One (sounds like the title of a new IP)

Pidgyoto or however you spell it, everyone tells me to stop using it because there's better flying types, like all of them. But I like it so sue me.

Do Magicarp or Abra count?

I have a soft-spot for those two.

If not, the caterpie line of evolution. I just think they're pweety.
Funny you say that.

I saw a youtube video of a guy with a level 100 magikarp defeat an entire team of legendary pokemon (also level 100).

Someone want to quote me and post that vid? I can't find it. Funny stuff.
Yeah, I think I saw that. I believe he tanked with a focus band, and used flail after baton-passing a ton of attack and speed.

Come to think of it, I saw something similar with a caterpie...
Along with a Weedle sweep. Gen 5 also introduces the Level 1 Aron sweep.

Oh man, that was some nice meta-game thinking.

Too bad the other guy didn't have any ghost types.
Must think of new counter...
Well, the thing with the level 1 aron is that it is currently banned for use. Reasoning is that there are very little counters to it and you will always need one slot on your team to specifically counter it.

My Flareon is pretty badass, actually.

It's only lvl 43 at the moment, but it has Fire Spin, Smog, Quick Attack, and Bite. I'll be swapping out Smog for Fire Blast shortly. Kicks ass. Yet to run into a non-water type fight that it couldn't handle.
How the fuck are you kicking ass?

Smog has a base power of 20...Fire Spin of 15...

Quick Attack has 40. And Bite has 60.

Anything wins in story mode, I suppose. ANYTHING.
The only rule in story mode is higher level and/or type advantage = WIN.
Actually, the only rule of story mode is "If you have enough revives you can never ever lose. Period.".

*snipped for space*
Seeing as how you can't actually buy revives until you beat Victory Road, I still like my point better. Because as you all know, Pokemon is about hoarding lots and lots of crap.
Uh, I'm pretty sure you can start buying revives after the 4th or 5th gym, depending on the game. Anyone want to confirm/deny this?
Bulbapedia says so. Huh, never noticed them.

PS, a note about pokemon: I've been waiting 14 years for a 3d version of the gameboy series, why do you continue to deny me, Nintendo?
Because there are, like, 650ish pokemon. It would take roughly 10 years to create and animate them all. Even only using the first 150 it would still take a friggin' age.
Um, hello, Pokemon Battle Revolution anyone? How about Colosseum? We have the technology, it's just that Nintendo is too lazy.

I don't care. Since that match I've always had a very soft spot for Aron, and I hope one day that it could get a huge boost one day in a future generation.

Speaking of which I use to include Cloyster on this list, but apparently it received some nice gifts in the next generation. To use Cloyster and be competitive with it is honestly one of the top reasons why I want B/W.
But... Aron and his kin can use Head Smash now... (thank you, HG/SS). Its typing is still pretty "meh", but a ridiculously overpowered Rock-type (with STAB) move that has no down side (thanks to Rock Head), finally useable speed (thanks to skillful use of Trick Room and/or Rock Polish), defense boosts from Sandstorm (making Metal Burst that much more fun)? I'm sold.

Too bad the websites don't like him... poor Aggron.

Probably not going to happen. Why? Flareon is a gen-1, and they really don't care much about gen-1 except for Pikachu.

I'd love to see Game Freak decide to go deeper, and not broader. Why not strip down to the first gen, or first two, and make a deeper, more satisfying game, rather than just rehashing the same old stuff with new sprites? Because it's not as easy :(
I would like this. Mix up all the already existing Pokémon, pick about 300 of them, and plunk them into a new game with a revolutionary feature: actually being able to *gasp* socialize with your Pokémon!

There will always be a place for MOAR SPECIES, but it doesn't have to be a never-ending deluge. They could work with the selection we have now and create some great new games with a little more creativity and ambition than they've shown. I have... a reasonable amount of faith that this will happen.

I haven't played White Version yet. I hope it's a step in the right direction, but I know it'll only be a step, at most. Still, can't wait!

Exactly, as I said, all I can think of is a ghost.

However, I wonder who came up with it, or how long it took for it to occur to them.

I love Arbok, it looks the shit. Unfortunately it actually IS shit in battle. So every time I send mine out I instantly regret it. It doesn't stop me from lovingly training and healing it to keep pace with my team though...it looks great on the Hall of Fame screen.
Also, Nidoking. Looks like the meanest ************ ever to evolve from a moonstone, and is so astonishingly mediocre in all his stats that it's an injustice.
And Pidgeot. I always play with a Pidgeot even though it kind of sucks.

The fact that you've analyzed and rationalized this one pokemon in respect to its other variations to this small extent is both worrying and awesome.
Well, it's my all-time favorite Pokemon. So, I know it rather well.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that there is waaaaaay too much math in a game supposedly made for children.
That's what I said...I always just picked the pokemon that looked the coolest and went with that. I have never looked at stats.

Flareon, though I think Venasuar is under powered for what he could be.

Other then that... I think Glaceon could use a better balancing. And Leafeon, cause its attack doesnt really help it with the limited move pool.

Scyther. He hasn't got much going in the way of type-based moves but damn he can rip shit up, and fast.

When I saw R.I.P Flareon I must admit I got alittle Sad : (

I had Flareon and to be honest I didn't think he sucked... Eh.. that bad. But then again I always had a Ninetails as a back up. Ironiclly I just switched my Arcanine for Flareon... SO maybe I should trade back?

OT - Anyone know if there is a New Eeveeloution in Black and White???
No there arent.
