r u sick of people with an apparent lack of any pride for their typed internet works?

I'm really getting tired of the poor syntax, grammar and overall language of the internet. I'm sick of the Us, the Rs and the pluralising with a damn apostrophe! To me it's just laziness. If appearance counts towards making a good first impression in reality, then surely how one writes on the internet contributes to first impressions on the Internet. Now, Gentlemen and Ladies, I AM NOT saying that perfect grammar and syntax should be expected 100% of the time, because that's just unreallistic and silly. Yes, I do use acronyms such as lol, brb and their ilk at times, but if you are contributing to a discussion, it doesn't really work. A bit of pride in your relations with others, even if it is the Internet, can't hurt, can it?

What are your opinions?

If it's quite bad, and doesn't get better, then there is a problem. But untill then, all you should ask is that people try. God how I hate "lol" though.

Well some people are from other countries, so it is hard for them to use all the grammar correctly.
But i dont like it when everything is shortened down, it becomes harder to read.

That's why my english teacher says "Never be afraid of making mistakes.". And I absoulutely hate shortened 1337 speak that makes you look like a 12 year old nerd without friend trying lol I'm 1337 to look cool. How is that s**t cool ?

You didn't seem to understand that dig at people who use them.

I only use abbreviations that are actually correct (like PSP, LHC, R&C: ToD ect.). Other than that I always type to the best of my ability. Half of the stuff some people say I cannot understand. But that's not the worst part...the worst part is...people who fucking say them...

No. Lolcats are fucking stupid.

The only thing that really bothers me is when people just put "lol" in a sentence. No block with punctuation, not even a break at all, just "and then I said no lol and she said yes and I was like omg lol."

Makes you look like a fucking monkey.

I always find that its quicker for both the writer and the reader to use proper english, as whenever I find a post written in 1337 I always have to spend extra time translating it.

So in short: Its quicker for everyone to use correct English.

What I really hate is when people start using silly text/"l33t" abreviations and phrases. To me such things are just purile and awkward to read.

I hate when people don't know the difference between "they're", "their" and "there". Also "then" and "than". Also the R's and U's bug me quite a bit.

Usually I don't correct people when I spot these. I just let the rage build up inside me and one day I'll turn into a huge green dude. THEN it's going to be smashing time!
