It's a double standard, get used to it. Kind of like how if a woman hit a man it'd be funny as shit but if a man hit a woman he'd get his ass thrown in jail.

Because we are racially biased.

In a truly equal society, no white man could call a black man a racial slur, nor could a white man do so to an Asian, Mexican, European, Russian, etc. person, nor any of those to anyone else. But, we have to make up for what we did to the black people by letting them be above the common laws of decency and call white people racist for small things.

Not that horrible things didn't happen to blacks, and admittedly the "it's because I'm black" group is very small (just noisy).

Because we invented racism. Just look at the history of Rwanda to see how bad us whiteys are.

To me it's still racism and should be treated equally.
The holocaust in Rwanda was caused by their own people

Because we are feeling kind of bad for what we did to the other races a long time ago. So we try to even it out by letting them be racists all they want.
Yet another example of the stupidity of the human race.

I heard a black guy calling a bunch of people crackers and honkeys. And I was talking to my friends (slightly ironically) about a scene in scrubs in which Dr. Kelso refers to Keith as a nagger, and Ronald came up to him and accused him. Well, the same thing happened to me. He over heard me say nagger, so he started yelling at me, my friends and I called him a hypocrite, and so did the others in the cafe. We told him what I said and the others confirmed it. He apologized but not before we got into him for the double standard.

Plus, I'm of cherokee descent, and I have no ill will to what my great grand-parents went through. Native Americans went through a genocide at the hands of white men, let alone slavery, relocation, prejudice... As George Carlin put it, "You want to find someone to complain about what has happened to them at the hands of white people, talk to an american indian, IF YOU CAN FIND ANY!" Well, here's one, and I must say, I have no problems.

Anyway, to the topic, it's an extreme double standard, and as such I like to point it out as often as I can. I understand the whole "white man put down my great grand pappy" and so-on, but YOU are not your great grand pappy, YOU were never a slave, and YOU have every opportunity a white man has. In some cases more simply because you AREN'T white. So honestly, get over it.

Yes, the hundreds of years of intolerance and racism were fucked up. But what's really fucked up is that people will hold me accountable for something I had absolutely nothing to do with... as if because I'm white I'm part of a secret conspiracy to bring back the institutionalized discrimination that was prevalent years ago. I totally understand why different ethnic groups are mad about what white people had done in the past (I myself can't believe some of the shit that happened back then), but blaming me for it is just ridiculous. The intelligent people are the ones who can stop living so much in the past and just live their lives right now. I really can't stand the people who will sit around on their asses and blame another race for "bringing them down", when they could be helping themselves.

All people need to stop blaming entire races for the evils that certain members have committed and start blaming those individuals who actually do the evil.

Double standard

Some people think that minorities get the luxury of being racist to white people because white people did it for so long. Let's all forget the meaning of equality and just turn it around to in essence make minorities superior.
That's what they have been trying since the 80s.

I love the smell of hypocrisy in the evening.

Racism is racism, no matter who it's aimed at.

Because liberals think two wrongs make a right.
Elaborate.
I believe that he's referring to the whole, "White people have been racist in the past, so it's ok for them to return the favor," thing.

I could give more examples, but they would not fit in this thread (as far as topics go).

im not racist at all and i think none should be judged by color. with that out of the way i want to ask something.

why is it a big deal if a white man is racist to a black man

but if a black man is racist to a white man its like "who gives a shit"
I love it when posts about race carry disclaimers

To answer your specific query however, consider it an issue of scale. If I, as a white person, make a racist comment towards a black person, I am continuing a legacy of oppression and discrimination that stretches back hundreds of years. On the other hand, if the situation is reversed, and the black person makes a racist comment towards me, then it's one person calling me names, and I can shrug it off without a second thought.

Y'all still seem to be taking the thread's huge assumption (that it actually is socially acceptable for blacks to make racist remarks) at face value.

Again: non-whites in positions of power don't actually get away with it. The people who do tend to get away with it get away with it because their society as a whole doesn't give a shit about anything that they think or say.

it was never the other way around for slavery
come on and take the punishment like we all did and leave it
Though it sounds insensitive i don't find white people being hanged for their color
I live in a city populated by alot of Africans and dirty mexicans so its normal and no one takes offence
ps. if you find an offence to dirty mexicans i put it in a way of two different things
dirty and mexicans so if someone was to say that to me i take that as a compliment showing that they have to add dirty so in turn they are saying mexicans are really clean

I agree with you. But I also think that people are too sensitive. If someone made a comment about my race, I would laugh and shake it off. I mean, we did do some pretty horrible things to other races, but I, personally, have not. I shouldn't be punished for what my ancestors did and have to watch everything I say.
