not really, the headgear shows that they are not respecting Uk culture.
Being English, I actually don't know what you mean. Could you elaborate a bit? :)

(and damn people, can we not be civil?)

I think something more went on here. I think they provoked this then started recording when she started ranting.

This ask the question, what kind of weird person records a woman sitting on a tram? I think that person should be prosecuted as well.

You did actually READ the article, right? And that was an error - it didn't take me two seconds to read the article... more like 20. Had you taken the 20 seconds to read the article, you would've realised that she has entered a "not guilty" plea, and she is denying it. But its more fun to be a troll, right?
I did read the article.

I also read the BBC's article on it, which said:
An administrative error earlier led to Ms West entering a not guilty plea.

The court file was later amended to show she has not yet pleaded.
Emphasis mine.

Of course, since she only offered a plea and confirmed her name in the original version, she really didn't deny ANYTHING, since simply pleading not guilty does not inherently count as a denial of the racist rant as the article claims.

But it's easier to rant in ignorance and call people trolls, innit?
This is the part where you post a link to prove it. Normally debates work around set material (such as the original article) and you debate about it. If you're gonna bring something else (like the BBC article) into it, you reference it.

Is it fun to call people ignorant for not knowing about information that you haven't shared with them?

Im actually having a good day today (which I dont want tainted by this potential flame war) so Im gonna stop now, alright?

Whilst I hate this ignorant waste of organic material as much as the next guy, this shouldn't be illegal. Had she ranted on about how awful they were as human beings for any other reason, it wouldn't be, and that's racism in and of itself. Also, free speech should be a right reserved for every person on Earth.
Free speech does not extend to hate speech or slander. This is how INTERPOL officers get warrants for people posting Nazi videos on YouTube.
OMG for the last time. "Free speech should", up there in bold. I'm not saying anything about any law that protects a persons right to say anything. I'm saying that everyone should have the right to say whatever they want. Words only have as much power over you as you let them. Truthfully, there are a lot more dangerous things to say than a hate speech.

First off this is an issue every western country is currently facing, and your knowledge of geopolitics (or lack thereof) disturbs me. It's become really easy for everyone to blame the immigrants for every problem the west is currently facing but the issue lies more with the economic downturn than anything recent immigrants are doing. Sure you'll have a few obstinate migrants from every group that refuse to integrate, but that dies off after one or two generations at most.
Not every Western country has the same laws as the UK.

I know there are issues everywhere but not with the magnitude it is happening in the UK. I've been there, seen that.
I didn't write that...

She was saying out loud what we as unemployed British adults have been thinking in a long time.

No, I'm not trying to justify what she did because it was bang out of order, but mass unemployment due to asylum seeking is a real issue in the UK at the moment. There's literally no surprise that this has happened at all.
...But that's not what she's saying, she wants all the non-natives to leave Britain, no matter how long or how many generations they've lived there simply because they are foreign, not because any of them are seeking asylum
Her views has been blown out of proportion yes, but it is what spurs most people on in the first place to make such comments like these.

I wouldn't know for sure though I'm not her Psychiatrist, but it is the main vocal point reared towards racial row's in this country.
The woman has no idea what she's talking about and probably inherited her stupid and bigotted views from her equally stupid and bigotted parents.

Reminds me of this guy

I also want Britain to be about British, but those damn Muslamic Ray Guns ruin everything.
What an smart young man!
Those dam muslamic Iraqis have gone to far this time!

OT: How is it possible to be that stupid? Why not just send her to live in the artic?

Is this really newsworthy? I don't think anyone should be surprised by the existence of racists, and this is just one random racist woman who happened to be caught on video.

LOL Why did they blurr the kid's face?

1. Anyone who has seen the video knows what he looks like.

2. What point does it really serve? The kid isn't the one who was yelling about, "FUCKING BROWN PEOPLE!"

This guy sounds completely retarded and/or stoned. Also, it is kind of wierd that him and a few others have shaved heads. It kind of reminds me of the racist skin heads we have here in America.

That's because the EDL (the English Defence League) are pretty much an organised group of racists.

I did reference it. If you mean "post a link," say so. However, it is legitimate to say "BBC said" and post a quote. If you wish to verify it, I have officially given you EVERYTHING you need to find said quote.

If that's all you have to work with, nitpicking that I didn't specifically pander to you, I'm assuming you've conceded.

Is it fun to call people ignorant for not knowing about information that you haven't shared with them?
You mean the information I referenced earlier, while you were too ignorant to go beyond the source article?

Oh dear, how dare I call people ignorant for the basic inability to do a google search! Or any form of their own research!

Im actually having a good day today (which I dont want tainted by this potential flame war) so Im gonna stop now, alright?
I would, too, if I was asserting false things.

I'm unsurprised that's a "good day."

Gotta love English hospitality.

Nah, I'm just kidding. We still love you guys. We got the RCAF back to show you how much we love you.
She does make one good point in her angry, xenophobic, shit talking. If you move to a country you should learn the language spoken there. That applies to every person that moves to any country.

OT: Okay, so she's fucking stupid, but we all knew that already. Her pledging not guilty doesn't really surprise me, but it does make me wonder if the court will take it into any account or just dismiss her as a complete smeghead.

Learning a new language isn't always easy. It doesn't help that most people who move to a country where a foreign language is spoken approach the problem by only associating with people of their own nationality/origin/language.
Asylum seekers are fleeing from their homes and thrust into whatever country will take them so it is understandable if their willingness to venture out of their communities can seem daunting.

So here is a lighter tale to put a smile at the end of this horrible thread.
The world is enamoured with england. Here in Sweden the conversation often goes the same way...
"Oh you're English, I love england, we went to Bournemouth once on a school language trip. Where are you from?"
"Cornwall"
"Is that near Bournemouth?"
"No, it's in the south west"
(pause whilst they try and picture the south-west of england) "What city is it near? Does it have a football team?"
(At this point I usually resort to using google maps or crude origami with napkins to demonstrate where cornwall is, the conversation dies and they look to find a new reason why the country I've left 10 years behind me is a good conversation topic. Sometimes it's football, I'm as far from a sports person as it gets so it eventually ends like this.)
"I know this english guy from Newcastle, he lives in Malmö, his name is Steve... (pause) Do you know him?"

To everyone out there, I do not know Steve from Newcastle... Or Dave from Hastings... By the way, I know this guy called Sven in Stockholm, do you know him?
