Yep, they're anarchists. Maybe you haven't read about what happened in St. Paul.

People hear what they want to hear.ReZerO said:you know, a lot of their soungs don't even have anything to do with the US, they are about other contries (and perhaps the general population ignoring what is going on in those contries) so i don't really see where most of the "bargh they are against our goverment" issue some people have brought up have come from.
Well, kid, go look up the Zapatista Army of National liberation, what they stand for, and their ties to RAtM.-Orgasmatron- said:Your brain is broken.SendMeNoodz84 said:Let's see...

The thing about RATM is that they rarely name-dropped anybody specifically, their lyrics usually targeted general government, institutions, and social habits. And even though W. was running for office while they were around, they were still playing long before he meant anything to anyone. In fact, they were at their peak from their debut in '92 till the end in '00 while Clinton was in office.barryween said:Well, first of all, it was an example. Second of all, I'm sorry, I meant George H.W. Bush, BUT! third, they broke up in 1999.? huh, they broke up in 2000. Testify came out as a single then and I remember when they broke up, 2000 (wikipedia says so too) And had they broken up in 1999, they could easily have hated George W. Bush, because if you know anything about politics you would know that the candidates start campaigning at lest a year before the election.madcap2112 said:Yeah, except they broke up before he even took office. You obviously don't seem to know much about them.barryween said:Rage Against the Machine is okay, but maybe people hate them because they suck. I mean all their songs are like:
"George Bush sucks! Geoarge Bush sucks! X5
[confusing and bland rap lyrics about W sucking]
George Bush sucks! X10
W!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SUCKS!"
I mean, EVERY song is like that, it's lame.
That being said I do enjoy Rage's music, I just question their lyrical variety and what not.
Obviously, my example was a gross exaggeration, but many of RATM's members are active W haters. They just have the balls (or lack of creativity) to say it. I just dislike political music.
This is true. But I guess that's where the "Rage" in the title comes into play, eh?Zyxzy said:Because they've never heard of "subtltey."
That is the reason why anarchy would never work. Everyone would NEVER be able to police themselves. I've only been working for 2 years, but already I've seen enough to tell you why that's not going to happen.scifidownbeat said:Anarchy is idealistic. Police forces could be dissolved if everyone was able to police themselves. As long as there are "idiots" in California, you have a job.SendMeNoodz84 said:Well as you said V for Vendetta is fiction. The idea that we could all live perfectly without a government telling us what to do is a VERY stupid one in my opinion. It'd be like the Capitol Wasteland from Fallout 3. Without laws, and a leader everyone would be left to fend for themselves. There would be crime, people trying to rule by using violence. It wouldn't be pretty. Although I must say I have a very biased opinion. I work as a police officer in California so naturally I'm against idiots.
Supporting socialist revolutionarys does not make you an anarchist.SendMeNoodz84 said:Well, kid, go look up the Zapatista Army of National liberation, what they stand for, and their ties to RAtM.
Are you implying Rage is copying Linkin Park?Malicious said:IMO rap/rock is overdone and Linkin park blends rap into rock/metal the best so people try and copy em.

It's called socialist anarchy, and it's not even considered a branch of socialism by most. Some argue that it's the same thing as anarchy. Maybe you weren't watching the news on January 1, 1994, but 3,000 armed Zapatista army insurgents seized towns and cities all over Chiapas. They let prisoners go and set fires to buildings. Ya' know what? That sounds a lot like the anarchistic movements of Europe, doesn't it? They're anarchists buddy.-Orgasmatron- said:Supporting socialist revolutionarys does not make you an anarchist.SendMeNoodz84 said:Well, kid, go look up the Zapatista Army of National liberation, what they stand for, and their ties to RAtM.
Redwood City, California. City in Northern California.scifidownbeat said:I was agreeing with you. Thanks for keeping CA's streets clean, by the way!
