Well the game has finally come, and its time to see if its just a fallout rip off, or atleast a good one. I plan on posting once i get into the game, but for now, who still thinks its just a rip off. Also, on a side note, one of the towns is called wellsprings?! anyone who has played fallout NV will probably see it the same as i do, that that sounds like a rip off of goodspring (first town in F:NV)

I've seen some gameplay,it's just fallout meets borderlands.(IMO).
that could be fun though, both games were great (IMO) and each could learn something from the other (fallout could learn to be more fast paced and energetic, while borderlands could learn a bit of subtlety and how character building works)

Just another five hour fps bollocks.
5 hour? this game is supposed to be 10-12 hours without sidequests and multiplayer, you know that right?

It looks more similar to Borderlands than Fallout. I'd say more a melding of Crysis and borderlands. not to say that's a bad thing though.

I would think in a post-apocolyptic desert scenario it might be human nature to name your town based on its logistical and/or strategic position, so naming your town Wellsprings or Goodsprings or Waterhole just seems like a common thing to do if you have a plentiful supply of clean water.

Apparently they started making this game 7 years ago so it's not actually a Fallout rip off.

Does look like they influenced each other though.

Currently I'm knee deep in fallout 3

Put in 50 hrs so far in just 4 days!!(What do I say,I'm unemployed)

And I'm ready for Rage!! Even if it is a fallout rip off ,knowing id I know the combat will be awesome (better than the lazy VATS system) and the gameplay will be tweaked like a knife cutting through butter!

And I'm really into that post apocalyptic setting. I wouldnt mind going at it again in Rage!

As long as its A GOOD GAME, who cares who it rips off or why? Motorhead (That band that played Ace of Spades) Said in an interview (Well Lemmy the singer) was asked if its ok for another band to rip them off.. I agree with his statement. "Sure if their successful do it. What do I care?"

Oh... i'm so witty...
THAT WAS SARCASM, OKAY!?

Won't be getting this anyway, i have Fallout 3, i have Borderlands.
Plus Bethesda were involved, and i am having nothing to do with them!

Every post apocalyptic game is suddenly a Fallout rip-off now? Is STALKER a Fallout ripoff then? Metro 2033?

What exactly is the criteria?

I would get Rage, but I heard some terrible things about the PC port, so I'm going to hold off on buying it.

People actually think that RAGE rips off Fallout? No, no one is so stupid as to think that Fallout invented the idea of a post-apocalyptic wasteland adventure, right? And people must realize that there was at least 2 Fallout games made before Fallout 3, right?

Right?

It's nothing like Fallout for starters, Fallout is a slow paced dark atmospheric lone wanderer open world RPG.

RAGE however is straight up a mission based FPS, mixing Borderlands and Bioshock is probably the closest description, but the story is apparently quite weak... yet again, so I'll give it a pass until the prices drop.

So far, and I've only played about 3 hours of it, the PC version has no glaring issues. There was one moment when I first booted it up and the Steam Overlay didn't work properly, but that was easily rectified by alt-tabbing and then going back in. Nothing else has been a problem, at all. I haven't even noticed any bugs.

That said, it's clear that it's a port of a console game. Everything about it, from the vendors to the menus to the basic mechanics of the game (item/weapon swapping in particular), make it clear that it was designed first and foremost for a controller. The PC controls aren't really bad, per se, but they are clearly an afterthought.

I'm really enjoying it though. It's a lot of fun.

As for the OP, it's far closer to Borderlands then Fallout. Really, it's Borderlands without the fantastic art style, skill trees or excessive weapon randomizer. The only one of those three I actually liked was the art style though, and RAGE still looks damn good. I've no complaints about it yet.

this is apparently localized to ATI cards only (supposedly). i have not heard of anyone who has an nVIDIA card as having any graphical problems thus far.

that being said, i wholeheartedly agree with the person who posted on the steam forums that said he was becoming fed up with being an alpha game tester for a full price game.

Better to have a good rip-off than a bad innovation.
Though it seems more like it just took Fallout environment, Borderlands gameplay and to me that's not a bad game.
