In General...

Got a new game? NEVER EVER switch it to Easy mode. If you want your money to last, consider switch to hard mode.

Think you are elite? Don't use quick save. It is one step towards cheating & you might appreciate the challenge.

Killed everything in the room? sweet..but stop and look around anyway..appreciate the level design, detail and atmosphere.

Dont treat sidearms (secondary weapons) as weak. Treat them as the tools of the professional; a few well-placed shots can do all the damage you need.

and...Dont play World of Warcraft !! sell your soul to someone else. You're sure to gain more then you would in WoW regardless.

AvP2: No matter how hard you try, you CANNOT fit a Queen in a vent.

In Fallout 3, ammo is better than money. It has no weight, and can therefore be carried about in large quantities for future trade. Plus, you can shoot it!

That was probably more common sense than an actual tip, but oh, well.

Money doesn't have any weight as well.

Team fortress 2: Shot people who wear a different color then you. Shot medics first. Cry some more. Run from glowing people. When your screen gets glowingly edges and a medic is healing you, you are invincible, kill some dudes. cry some more. play medics, we always need more medics. Watch engies to find the best places to build. Cry some more. Travel in packs, three players can do more damage then one. find out where health packs are. Cry some more. You can ddoge rockets pretty easily. Cry some more. press 'E' to call for a medic. Cry some more. As medic, wait for your uber to build-Cry some more-Then right click to amke you and your patient invincible. As a scout-Cry some more-you don't have much-cry some more-Health, so run-cry some more-alot. cry some more. cry some more. CRY... SOME... MORE!! Heavies are slow but deadly.

BFBC2: kill medics first, everyone else comes after

All Bioware games: get points in persuade, it usually leads to something good

Mario Kart: never try to get first until the end, unless you want a blue shell up your ass

WoW: if it has mana, it can usually kill you faster than melee, and therefore should be killed fast. never stand in fire. learn to love the grind

MW2: use cheap guns like noob tubes with danger close, rarely does anyone not use them

KH2: summons are useless, but max lvl is needed for the secret cutscene at the end

RE5: play co-op with a friend, never with the npc, it's not worth it

Bayonetta: dodge is your friend

Mario Kart Wii/Double Dash:
If you use a mushroom right as a blue shell darts up (but before it plummets down) you can dodge it...sometimes.

Pokemon Blue (and Red, I guess, if it wasn't so inferior):
Buy Magikarp before Mt. Moon, and you should have a Gyrados by Misty. Using legendaries is cheating. Avoid capturing Missingno, unless you no longer care about that save file (same with all other glitch Pokemon).

L4D2: Always use the Ak-47, or original auto-shotty. Throw moltovs at Tanks, boomer bile also works. Use adreneline when there is no hope and run. Don't rush ahead on versus, just don't.

Another Kingdom Hearts tip if you have video game OCD and can never leave a boss unbeaten don't even bother battling Sephiroth, that boss ate about 8 hours of my life just to figure out how to stop his energy drain attack. Also just because Demyx is comic relief don't believe for a second that he can't murder your ass three ways from Sunday (he will destroy you the first time you fight him)

KH tip level up your master form and wisdom form for super glide and dash and master form double jump move b4 u fight sephiroth. also xaldin will kick your ass if you don't beat him quiclkly and you can beat luxord if you get turned into a dice. and you are going to die against sephiroth. don't take it as an insult or offense, ur just going to die several times b4 u beat him no matter what level ur on.

Aim rocket launcher away from feet.

Treat every corner as if there's the spawn of Satan around it.

Reload after every encounter.

Never buff the Charisma/Speech stat. Ever.

Unless you want to be harassed by horny teenagers, play as a male in MMORPGs.

You'll never memorise that build order or be able to execute it with the finesse of that other guy. Give up now.

Make sure you have an idea of what kind of game you are getting before you get it. Even a small idea helps. A lot of people I see seem to hate a game they bought purely because they expected something different.

This. This is a very good tip. It saves you time and money. Rent the game or borrow it from a friend beforehand.

Now for my tip. When you're playing Gears of War when night comes around and the Kryll(sp?) come out and play, don't step out of the light into the darkness. You won't survive. Oh, and shoot every propane tank you see. It'll help you when needing to cross distances with no other light source.
