Saint's Row 2- Don't place a satchel charge on your car if you have to make any turns or drive for a long distance ( particularly if you use the left trigger to make quick turns)
Any shooter- When ever you use remote detonated explosives (C-4, satchel charges, etc) be sure to get plenty of distance or solid cover between yourself and the explosive, DO NOT detonate said explosive while you're in the same room.
Sandbox games- Don't ram a cop car/ run over a cop/ shoot a cop while your in the middle of a mission (unless killing cops is the mission) or if you have low health and are not near a save point (for those games that use save points instead of menu saving)

in [command & conquer: red alert] when you play the allied campaign there is a mission where the map enlarges and another enemy base is discovered when you kill a smaller soviet base. Make sure you build up some forces before killing the last troops of the first enemy base, triggering said event.

Got a new game? NEVER EVER switch it to Easy mode. If you want your money to last, consider switch to hard mode.
Think you are elite? Don't use quick save. It is one step towards cheating & you might appreciate the challenge.

Just Cause 2 - Complete races over and over to solve the money issue, the easiest ones are the base jumping ones in the city, only take 30 secs to complete and you don't have to beat a record each time.
