Reach, first impressions?

It lloks to be a rugular AAA game. It gets the 9.5 and 10 from the fanboy reviewers just like other titles lke Super Mario Galaxy, Uncharted, etc.. get. Calm down people. This is like the 15th Halo thread I've seen in 2 days. Honestly fif you guys not play any other better games than Halo? Sure Reach wll be great (played the beta it was not 10/10 material but I like it more than 3, it has the classes feature that I loved from Killzone 2) but its not like its the only game you'll be playing for the next few months? Right?

For me it is, but then I'm a special case. I have very few games and typically only play one for a long period of time. Most recently it was mass Effect 2 that I played to the exclusion of all else. Soon it will be Reach. After that, who knows?

Their are alot of people on this site, some can only come on at certain times because of their time difference, their is a chance they don't know a thread has been made about it, so they make one, sure they could check but in the heat of the moment you don't think about that.

I won't have my copy until tomorrow afternoon, but it looks like fun on a bun. And despite the usual complaints about story everyone seems determined to make, the single-player campaign actually sounds pretty compelling, much more so than Halo 1, 2 and 3. I get a real Republic Commando vibe from it.

true for you but i got it in uk a day before i was supposed to cause amazon are awsome in this and accidentaly send it one day early.(or mail is efficient) so ive done the campaign and really if you played any other halo you've played this. there are a few new weapons and shield shit has changed like in every halo but it all comes down to kill those aliens! and xbox multiplayer halo always pisses me off with the 10 year olds teabagging my corpse plus the multiplayer hasn't taken off yet because im early but if you like halo and you bought the o.d.s.t overpriced expansion pack from hell then you'll probably like it a lot.

No, No GOD OF WAR earned the GOW title. GEARS of WAR gets the 2nd tier GeOW. I'm making it my mission to let everyone know this. Plus if Kratos was ever told that Marcus and Dom stole his game abbreviation then lets just say that GeOW would have 2 new main characters....

This is why I said it. I can't go into Gaming Dicussion without seeing "Holy balls! Halo Reach TOMARROW OMG!" or "Holy Halo Reach Batman!" or "Awesome Halo Reach!" It annoys me soooooooo much.

Compared to the other Halo games, which in my opinion were total pieces of shit clones, this one is actually quite good.

Yes, the story and single player campaign suck as expected, but you can't really get many heartfelt moments out of walking tin cans now can you? That's is not a justifiable reason by the way, Bungie should really stop their narratives as it's just not their thing.

However, the redeeming factor of this game is multiplayer which honestly could have been a stand alone game. There's new weapons and vehicles that are balanced and fit in, the armor upgrades that add a large number of ways to kill and get things done, 15+ game types with addition of the hundreds of custom games coming (Grifball made the original 15 which made gleeful, way to go Rooster Teeth) and 30+ maps with probably more coming with DLC. This only coupled with the addition of the 'real' forge, which is so outstanding that it makes any other map builder look simple and childish.

So, If you don't have any friends to play with or hate to go into matchmaking with 'H3dsh0tma5t3rr.' Then avoid this game as it's total garbage to you but if you love multi-player then this game is so worth it.

I know what you mean but many Halo fans seem to forget that there are other genres (watch me get quoted as much times as there are Halo threads) other than shooters. They also aren't/weren't informed that *gasp* you can have just as much fun playing other AAA shooters.
