That needs to be made illegal.
No civilian should have access to weapons!
You, give me back my words, you thieving jerk!

Yeah, super dangerous, super stupid. Why would you even want to make that let alone give it to sci-fi fans! The most dangerously stupid people on earth to give a weapon of that magnitude to!

I mean in a couple of decade we will be able to have real lightsabers made from extending plasma torches...why settle for something that only blinds, causes cancer and sets people on fire?

I don't know whether to be amazed, terrified, or both.

I just hope kids don't replace plastic lightsaber battles (my favorite growing up) with actual laser battles....

I like the warning in the product description:

"This class 4 beam will cause immediate and irreversable retinal damage"

"set fire to skin"

"cause cancer"

I think some kids are going to have an awesome Christmas!
"Wear safety goggles or a mask or tinted glasses"
"Set fire to your ENEMIES skin"
"Good luck."

Hahahaha brilliant. Conservatives are going to shit themselves over this.

It's about time someone started selling dangerous weapons to the public since you can't get guns. Maybe this will show people there are worse things that guns as the alternatives are highpowered lasers.

I do want one very badly but dont have the cash. Its priced very near Kinect. I know which one I'd have.

Perhaps in about a week we'll see these on the news. If not civilians, then maybe the UK forces in Afghanistan will do something really stupid.

They get upset over a pissy little 1W laser? Better not tell them that there are also 1000W lasers available...

My bad... I remembered W and it was actually mW...

Still, these have been available for years.

just a question:

what if a group of people, lets call them "terrorists", will each buy this device, go into a place filled with people, and just go nuts?
shit hits the fan, i presume?
How about a more pertinent question: what happens when a group of people, lets call them "Army" straps a 100 of these to a gunship and just goes nuts?

and here is the where the real fun begins: with weapons grade lasers cheaper and as effective as normal fire-arms, how long do you think we have before we have running lightfights down our city streets?

These lasers have added 'benifits' for criminals:

the beam you are using to melt off your enemy's face from down the street completely silent and invisible.

no traceable bullet to tie you to the crime. there is absolutely no way of determining for sure weather a certain laser killed a certain person.

basically they are the perfect murder weapon

If it doesn't stop after about a meter, it's not a lightsaber. It's just horrifically dangerous. I appreciate the technology and such, and it is awesome, but it's far too dangerous without some kind of stopping point. I'm reminded of a certain speech from Mass Effect 2... in that if you point this thing anywhere, especially anywhere on this planet, you are ruining someone's day, somewhere.
