Or, you know, we go out and research.
If you were max level, people expect you to have at least had a cursory glance or asked around as to what the best spec/rotations are. This is especially true when your group has evidently been to this instance a few times before and is interested in completing it as fast as possible for badges/drops/gold/whatever rather than being held back by a deadweight member.
Elitist? A bit.
However this is how it is. If you don't want to be told you're deadweight, you should probably be running with friends rather than PuGs.
Well said, I agree with this wholeheartedly. Your right, it may come across as a bit "Elitist", but hell, the resources to research your class aren't even hard to find... (WoW-forums people, plenty of links in there, or EJ if your awesome), whats worse is when the dead wieght member is the tank, and does a ready check. After. Every. Single. Trash. Group... Or a Healer who drinks after every Trash Group due to them over healing tonnes from mindless spamming.

I'm pretty mellow when it comes to dungeon runs, in my opinion so long as we're not perpetually wiping on stuff I keep my trap shut and roll with whatever comes my way. I have my limits though and if I find myself on what should have been a max 30min dungeon run turning into 90min heads will start to roll and I will start telling you how to get your shit in gear.
Pretty much my attitude in PUG's nowadays, gets frustrating when in ToC, and the tank can't aggro the ghouls on Black Knight for shit, wiping for 40 mins isn't fun. (well, it is for my mage, i just go invisible, no repair bill for me.

Also, there's no such thing as a "best spec".
Yes, there is. Every class has optimal specs for every encounter.
Christ I get some terrible people in ICC25 and VoA25 PUG's. Like when I see a Mage specced for PVP Frost pulling 1.5k-2k dps (Raid buffed) on Marrowgar, they're going to get kicked from the group.
Why? Because they're pulling the group down, and relying on everyone else's efforts to take them through content they aren't good enough for yet. (Skill wise, not Gear - though Marrowgar isn't exactly hard)
As it's been said on here already, if you can't be bothered to spend 10 minutes looking up info on your class, and as a result bring the group down a peg, your not just wasting your own time, your wasting other people's time. (And gold for repairs)
