On halo 3 I one maned an entire enemy team of 12 and one by a landslide with my trusty shotgun. Instead of the usually cries of "hackz!" from prepubescent boys, I actually got these awed "Dude... That was epic... how did you..." etc. They all immediately tried to party up with me. >_<

I know it's old-fashioned but this is why I try to stick play with/against people I know when gaming. That way, when they say something stupid, I know who to smack and can actually smack them without having to worry about a lawsuit. (And they can do the same to me in return or for whatever I did to offend them...it's a viscious circle of pain...not really. Normally, just one or two smacks and the game continues).

While raiding in WoW, about 3-4 years back. I remember getting shouted at for typing in the paladin channel, regarding the boss we were on. Only certain people were allowed to speak via voice chat too. So, let me get this straight, I'm not allowed to speak regarding the boss, even though this is meant to be a cooperative game?

Yeah, it wasn't long after that I quit, and I don't regret quitting one bit. Raiding turned into a second job, rather than an entertainment output.

OT: all the time, especially in team-based games where people shout that the team sucks (since it couldn't possibly be them, or the way they play of course)
To be fair, I was playing Hardcore Team Death match the other day on MW2. I finished 23 kills and 6 deaths and we still lost.

I didn't rant because I'm not 12/emotionally stunted but I can with, some confidence, chalk that loss up to the team and not my individual effort.

It didn't help that I'd dropped in on my clanmates game and landed on the other team.

MW2 on PC. My shitty Laptop got made the server. It's not MY fault that caused everyone to lag by like 5 seconds. I didn't choose to be it.

Yaknow, playing online makes me die a little more every time I encounter something like this. And by this, I mean, ALL of this! Everything people have said, I avoid like the plague. I delt with it for a spell in my stay with Counter Strike Source, but evenuntally moved on.

There's only 2 games that I've really played online multiplayer a lot, and that would be Jedi Academy and TF2.

Now Jedi Academy, its pretty much Quake 3(i think), with added lightsabers and force powers. Everyone starts with a lightsaber at the beginning of the match, plus the default pistol, and you can customize your saber to whatever you want (single, double, double-sided). Now theres this one gun, called the Imperial Repeater, which shoots like an SMG but has a secondary fire which is a splash damage energy ball, which I found was INCREDIBLY EFFECT against taking people out with lightsabers....but then people would get pissed off at me because I was using a gun stuck into the game, instead of flailing around with a lightsaber.

And with TF2, I get some angry at me cause I spy-check like crazy as a Heavy and Soldier so they don't understand how I spotted them or something...

And also..from what I can tell from all this MW2 stuff....people are getting mad at explosive weapons....for exploding?.... =/

I'm not up on my RTS jargon, cause I suck at human-vs-human RTS games... What's a 'cheese' strat?
It's when you use a so called "Broken" to "Cheesy" strategy to win a game, but people just use it to complain.

Some kid was trying to go cannons to hold off till he got void rays... I initially thought he was trying to cannon rush me and I walked in to his base, around his cannons, and Hold position on his minerals with my 6 stalkers at around 6min mark while I sniped his stargates, probes, checked for expos, and got collusi to kill his cannon fortress.

Apparently Stalkers at 6min PvP is cheese... he started flaming me so I trolled him hardcore, twas a dream.

I got constantly accused of hacking in Halo 2/3 because of my raw skill and uber rapage. I dominate hardcore at FPS and I don't play games to abuse cheap tactics in broken games, that why I'm so good.

In WoW I got flamed for countering shadowpriest, mage, shaman all 2300+ players versus hunter (me) priest, druid. Apparently I counter their team, yeh hunter counters shadow priest and 8 billion novas. They had better gear then me, had played together forever, were running their cheese team, and I beasted them with a retarded priest in bad gear and a glad druid. The best part is they were talking shit to me about how much I suck in trade earlier, and then I beat them 3-0 in a series when spriest/lock teams rape hunters. This was when spriest became OP (I have a dpriest/spriest at 2100+ myself). Oh man it was so fun flaming them in trade hahaha...

Cheese is some strat where if it doesnt work you lose or are so far behind its near impossible to win unless the opponent messes up big time. Basically like sacrificing everything including your workers to kill them, and it generally requires little skill, like marine/SCV rush verse protoss that got SCV health nerfed to 45 from 60 :) .

Apparently on CoD5, using the Carbine with an apeture sight and stopping power (which I like because it's great long and short range) is for "fake sniper pussies", according to some prestiged kid who I suspectwas on his sibling's profile, as he sucked. If you do well in any online game, people will *****.

I once got yelled at for "slacking" in WoW when I was completely new to DPS in instances - apparently, all the other guys have those talent trees and skill sequences hardwired into their genes.

And also in WoW, I got kicked out for rolling need on a weapon which I actually needed (well, actually it was that there were two very good drops for my character in short succession and therefore I rolled need on both, but other players wouldn't listen to my explanations).
Don't suppose you played a hunter, eh? heh heh...

I'm trying to get into PC Gaming so I bought TF2, needless to say I'm not too good at it. But for some god awful reason people get absolutely pissed when you're a sniper and kill them with anything but a headshot. Cause y'know, bodyshots are ghey.

Or, you know, we go out and research.

If you were max level, people expect you to have at least had a cursory glance or asked around as to what the best spec/rotations are. This is especially true when your group has evidently been to this instance a few times before and is interested in completing it as fast as possible for badges/drops/gold/whatever rather than being held back by a deadweight member.

Elitist? A bit.

However this is how it is. If you don't want to be told you're deadweight, you should probably be running with friends rather than PuGs.
Well said, I agree with this wholeheartedly. Your right, it may come across as a bit "Elitist", but hell, the resources to research your class aren't even hard to find... (WoW-forums people, plenty of links in there, or EJ if your awesome), whats worse is when the dead wieght member is the tank, and does a ready check. After. Every. Single. Trash. Group... Or a Healer who drinks after every Trash Group due to them over healing tonnes from mindless spamming.

I'm pretty mellow when it comes to dungeon runs, in my opinion so long as we're not perpetually wiping on stuff I keep my trap shut and roll with whatever comes my way. I have my limits though and if I find myself on what should have been a max 30min dungeon run turning into 90min heads will start to roll and I will start telling you how to get your shit in gear.
Pretty much my attitude in PUG's nowadays, gets frustrating when in ToC, and the tank can't aggro the ghouls on Black Knight for shit, wiping for 40 mins isn't fun. (well, it is for my mage, i just go invisible, no repair bill for me.

Also, there's no such thing as a "best spec".
Yes, there is. Every class has optimal specs for every encounter.

Christ I get some terrible people in ICC25 and VoA25 PUG's. Like when I see a Mage specced for PVP Frost pulling 1.5k-2k dps (Raid buffed) on Marrowgar, they're going to get kicked from the group.

Why? Because they're pulling the group down, and relying on everyone else's efforts to take them through content they aren't good enough for yet. (Skill wise, not Gear - though Marrowgar isn't exactly hard)

As it's been said on here already, if you can't be bothered to spend 10 minutes looking up info on your class, and as a result bring the group down a peg, your not just wasting your own time, your wasting other people's time. (And gold for repairs)

being accused of modding the javelin on MW2 because the other team claimed it can't be used to kill people
I made a Javelin class that I just crouch in some bushes and shoot where I think people are. You would be surprised how good you can get with it :D.
