Yes, I realise there's several other threads, but they're all spewing bullshit and hate and I thought it would be better to just show the FACTS about the console.
1. There is an Always Online DRM system built into the platform, but Microsoft is leaving the decision to use it up to the Publishers. The gun is on the table, waiting to be used to hold your game hostage, and Microsoft openly encourages their partners to use it.

Xbox One will give game developers the ability to create games that use Microsoft?s Azure cloud computing service, which means that they might be able to offload certain computing tasks to the cloud rather than process them on the Xbox One hardware itself. This would necessitate the game requiring a connection.
Are developers forced to create games that have these online features, and are thus not playable offline? They are not, Xbox exec Whitten said to Wired ? but ?I hope they do.? So the always-online future may come in incremental steps.
This is a HUGE problem waiting to happen; we've already seen how "wonderful" Always-Online has been with disasters like Diablo 3 and SimCity 2013, and it's clear how some publishers (EA, Blizzard and Ubisoft) have been chomping at the bit for an Always-Online standard platform, just so they can strongarm their customers even more post-purchase.
Of all the bitching that's been done about the system, this is by FAR the worst thing on it.
You can ignore the Kinect 2.0 and social media garbage just fine. The loss of Used Games is no surprise to anyone whose been a PC gamer for the last 8 or so years. But Always Online is a total downgrade for the overwhelming majority of games.
2. It's not a big deal to begin with. No complaints.
3. This is true. Sucks, but the truth kinda sucks sometimes.
4. The Used/Pre-owned game deal has been the biggest point of contention with console owners.
Right now, Microsoft is shuffling their feet on whether or not non-install used games will exist on the market.
I'm thinking the answer is "no", given the enormous pressure from their publisher bed-mates to eliminate Used Games from the market entirely.
So really, NONE of those are really "Reasons to not be worried about the Xbox One", Unless you were scared shitless about losing your achievements and gamerscore for some reason.
