Soul flew backwards toward the cement wall, but managed to stop himself from hitting the wall by stabbing his blade into the ground quicker then anyone could register. He straightened up and yanked his blade out of the ground, spinning it twice before gripping it tightly in his right hand. A small trickle of blood fell down from Soul's nose but he seemed not to notice. He glared darkly at the werewolf but didn't say a word to him, instead he went on the offensive.
Soul darted forward swinging his sword in low as if to cut the man in half, but he brought his blade up at the last second to decapitate the man.
When Vlad had appeared Andrew had indeed been quite surprised and it took him a moment to evaluate the situation before cautiously removing his hand from his gun's grip though he hadn't actually drawn the weapon.
He thought to himself about what he knew of the old legends as well as the old facts.
"Well if you are who you say," his voice seemed a touch playful but still weary. "then you look good for someone well past his 500th birthday. I hope we didn't keep you waiting too long."
With one last look over the self proclaimed vampire, he did certainly look the part, Andrew began walking towards the castle. As he did so he called over to the guy who said he would stay behind.
"Well, It's not skin off my back if you want to stay back here..." He paused for a moment or two "Alone. Didn't you ever watch any horror movies at least? The loner always gets picked off first. Try to scream nice and loud so it's dramatic." Andrew's voice was somewhat joking, but his mind was a bit more serious as such a danger could be real. If he had to scare the guy a touch to keep him with the group where he would probably be safer then so be it.
He was a bit taken back though by the sudden misfire that once again had his hand on his gun. Seeing what had happened, Andrew was about ready to regret all of this more and more. "How about a quick lesson to start?" He said cautiously, "That little switch on the side of the handle is the safety switch. When Mr. Safety Switch is not engaged, Mr. Gun is not your friend. Understand?"
Valkenhayn jumped backwards. "So you fight with a sword, interesting." He pulled out his pocket watch again looked at it. "Hmm..." He went, as if clarifying something to himself. He then walked forward slowly toward Soul, still looking at his watch. "Tell me, why do you use a sword?" He appeared behind Soul, back-to-back again. "Especially with these modern guns, you purposely hinder yourself?" He put the pocket watch away and appeared in front of Soul, delivering a strong kick. "Is it because you feel a sense of honer in using one?" Before the kick hit, he disappeared again reappearing back at the balcony with his hands behind his back. "Come, show me your strength. Talk with me while we do combat, for in combat the true man is revealed."
Soul said nothing, but began walking towards the man on the balcony. He darted up the stairs and managed to reach the man in a few seconds, swinging his blade in precise arcs that were meant to give the man small wounds but nothing big. The slashes were quicker then most men could keep up with, but he wasn't slowing down one bit.
"You'll be the first person I talk to in a long time, so consider yourself lucky. I fight with a sword because I enjoy watching the faces of the people I kill... their life leaves there eyes and it gives me joy to see such a thing. You will be no different." Soul said darkly, his eyes narrowing slightly.
Valkenhayn dodged each and every swing individually, almost lazily, as if mocking Soul. "So you are a murderer then? No better then the man you have been sent to kill. Interesting. But, you will not be the one to kill me." He allowed one swing to hit him, but it was like hitting rock. "See, not a thing." He pulled his head back then smacked it into Soul's. "The older the Werewolf, the stronger they are."
Oh god. Okay werewolfs, they hate silver. Keith put down the bag he had on his shoulder. He reached in and pulled out some mercury and put it in a plastic bag. He wrapped the bag around a grenade. He pulled reached for the pin and made a quick prayer that it would work. Should I warn that guy with the sword? No. It will give away my position.... He pulled the pin and tossed it......
I read that mercury is just as effective as silver
Soul stumbled back for a second, before hearing a click that resembled that of a grenade. He ducked backwards, behind a pillar and hoped that the grenade would at least stun the werewolf long enough that Soul would be able to get a few hits in before the werewolf composed himself.
"Hm?!" Went Valkenhayn, genuinely surprised. When the grenade exploded he covered his eyes with his right arm. "Mercury... Clever. That one almost hurt." He stepped off the balcony calmly and took his arm away. "I am not your average Werewolf, sadly for you." He raised his arm into the air and clenched his fist. "Feel my power!" A green arm with claws rose from the floor below Keith and dragged him down into the ground. He came back up in front of Valkenhayn, fully grasped in the hand. "I am a master of my own curse." The arm disappeared and Keith was delivered a kick straight to the chin.
Soul darted back out of nowhere, using that second where his teammate was being attacked to aim a lunge where a man's normal heart would have been. He didn't care about his teammate, if he was strong then he would recover, if he was weak, then he should have known better then to come on this mission.
Blood shot out of Keith's mouth as he flipped over backwards before smashing face first into the ground. Keith was knocked to the edge between unconsciousness and consciousness. Keith coughed trying as hard as he can to bring in oxygen into his lungs. Once he succeeded his eyes rolled back into the back of his head and he passed out just after seeing Soul get ready to lunge at Hellsing.
"It won't work my friend." Valkenhayn pushed his palm in the way of the sword, only succeeding in making him move his arm back a little. "I find your persistence honorable, if futile." He pushed the blade back with great force. "You'll need more then two to take me on, that I promise." He moved his left arm behind his back and prepared for Soul's next attack.
Soul regained balance almost immediately, starting another flurry of attacks meant to either weaken Valkenhayne's defense or make him stumble so Soul could gain the upper hand. He dared a glance over at his ally who was crumpled up on the floor, and Soul could already tell that this man wasn't going to be one of his stronger allies despite how cunning he might be.
"Come on, this again?" Valkenhayn sighed as he walked backwards slowly. He stomped his foot on the ground, causing the entire Castle to shake violently yet not falling apart. He the clapped his hands together causing two green, clawed hands to raise from the floor and clap Soul together. "You do not know the extent of my powers. Do I need to spell it out? You. Need. Backup."
"I don't back down, I only win. Allies slow me down, I will kill you myself and move onto the next target until my blade is stained with your blood." Soul sneered, keeping the hands from closing in upon him by using his blade as a barrier to keep the two hands from closing. He also used his own body strength to keep the hands from closing. He eyes flashed darkly as he glared at Valkenhayn from between the clawed hands.
Soul even went to the extent of pulling out the white piece from his ear and pocketing it so nobody could contact him.
Keith opened his eyes and felt a lot of pain in his jaw. He was positive it was broken. He cleared his mind. Plan time. Grenade did extremely minimal damage, but maybe if I.... um... Got it Keith army crawled toward his bag. He pulled out two remaining grenades. He then took out a revolver containing silver bullets. He taped the bullets to the grenades. Then he drenched them in the remaining mercury. He pulled the pins and rolled them behind Hellsing. "NOW SOUL!"
Vlad's appearance took Alexis by surprise, and any notion she had of this all being some sort of conspiracy to test them went out of the window shortly afterwards. Initially cursing herself for letting him sneak up on them in the first place, she quickly realised she'd stood very little chance of noticing him until he decided to show himself, yet again reinforcing just how out of her depth she was in all this. She listened in on the conversation, studying the castle and pulling round her rifle, checking it over yet again. She didn't like what she was hearing. The mention of a were wolf sent images flashing through her mind until she quelled them, visions of slathering jaws, eyes burning with hunger and vicious anger, bloodstained claws. Then there was the house, the interior ripped apart, the bodies... "Could they have been Werewolves?" she wondered to herself, "no, surely Werwolves would have been bigger still than those creatures. Wouldn't they? The lack of information was disturbing to her, especially given they were facing something so dangerous. She shivered and pushed the thoughts to the back of her mind. For now, she needed to concentrate.
Soul had gone on ahead when she snapped herself back to reality, the echo of Reece's misfire causing her to tighten the grip on her own gun. She felt for him, he seemed as lost in all this as she was. She rolled her eyes at Andrew's comments, stepping forward and placing a hand on Reece's shoulder.
"Patronising lessons aside, he has a point," she said to Reece, "we'll be safer sticking together, whatever him with the sword appears to want to believe. Besides, there's what, six of us, and one Werewolf. if nothing else, we outnumber it. Safety in numbers, right?" This conversation was cut short by the sound of a grenade. Alexis darted for the castle entrance. She found Soul and Keith already engaged with an opponent. For a few seconds she was transfixed by the man's fighting style, with his teleportation and claws. Pulling herself together, she crouched in the edge of the doorway, pressing the device in her ear.
"Hey, you guys outside, we're gonna need some help in here!" she said, before cutting the connection and levelling her rifle. The man's movements were too fast for her to get a good aim, until he grabbed Soul with his green claws. Seeing the danger, she aimed at the man's head and fired. She was up and running for the stairs as soon as the bullet left the barrel, not waiting to see what effect, if any, her shot had. She needed and advantage in this, and for the moment, height was her best bet.
Hopefully this is ok, though given my character is best at distance, this is going to be a rough battle...
The hands crushing Soul disappeared as the Grenades exploded around Valkenhayn. "Dammit!" He covered his eyes again, then the bullet that Alexis went through his head sending him flying and onto the ground. A few moments passed as his blood began to pour out onto the floor.
Engineer's voice was heard. "You guys OK down there? Anyone dead yet?" He sounded as if he expected one of the recruits to be dead, but didn't sound that much concerned. "I mean um... Is anyone injured?"
Edgar swore as a bullet whizzed into the ground next to him, he flicked Reece in the head before running after the others. He caught up with Alexis just as her bullet slammed into....something's head. He brought up his M79 and took aim at it's chest, not trusting that the fact it was down meant it was dead.
Slowly Valkenhayn began to rise up, as if strings were pulling him up. His eyes had changed into something more beast-like and the hole from the bullet was still in his head. "HehhehehehHEHEHEHEHEH!!!" His arms were flopped as if he had lost control of them. He smiled, showing his sharp fangs of teeth, drooling. "Fire EVERYTHING you have at me!" He began walking forward slowly. "What's the time MR WOLF!?"
