Me and my gaming amigos are going to have a get together before Halloween most likely, and since all of them are wusses (including me) we haven't played too many scary games besides Amnesia and a few HL2 mods. I need some recommendations for scary games we can play in Halloween spirit!

We have a PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, and possible a PC at the disposal. So far I'm considering Eternal Darkness but that's all I can think of. Any suggestions?

EDIT: Multiplayer is NOT NEEDED! Single player preferred since if it's multiplayer then these guys will troll each other...

EDIT 2: Like I said, we've actually have played Amnesia (almost all of us) after I recommended it.

Halloween Co-Op games? I'm really stuck for this one. If Singleplayer is alright, try Condemned. I hear it's terrifying and it's made by Monolith, absolute horror geniuses.

They don't need to be multiplayer, right? I can't think of any co-op horror games.

Fatal Frame is one of the most terrifying experienced you will ever have. My cousin and I play a scary game every Halloween, and this was one we played. To this day it haunts us like nothing else ever has. Ever.

Condemned: Criminal Origins (Xbox 360/PC) sounds like something that might work. It manages to have both gore and a creepy atmosphere.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent (again) /thread

If you want a co-op experience, you could try F3AR, or FEAR3, whatever..

I think condemned was the first game that ever really spooked the crap out of me. I remember creeping through the levels inch by inch and freaking out every time I hear so much as a footstep that didn't come from me.

Amnesia as well. I remember it having more than a few 'Ok, that freaked me out. I'm done. Time to go play something else!' moments.

Amnesia, trust me, get a couple people in the room (preferably one who is easily scared) and good times will be had.

Dead Space 1 or 2 its not Scary but its reasonably fun to play in the dark, Half-life 1 is a great psychological thriller.

Er, people should stop saying "Amnesia" and read the original post.
But this reminds me that the Amnesia guys have made a series of games called Penumbra - haven't played it, but my friend liked it a lot.

The problem with playing a scary game at a party is that any game instantly becomes less scary when you're sitting around and joking with your friends. Scary games are meant to be played in solitude, and are supposed to make you feel trapped and alone, and this effect can't be achieved at a party.

That being said, play Deadly Premonition.

Yeah, I knew that would happen... but from having a few friends watch the latter few play Amnesia it's less Terrifying and more of everyone having a good time and saying "Man that would be horrifying" Sadly it isn't as effective as playing it alone but TRUST ME when I say if we were playing it alone about 90% of us wouldn't be able to do it. We're wusses.

Some of these have been said, but,

Condemned 1 and 2
FEAR 1 and 2
Dead Space 1 and 2
Silent Hill Shattered Memories
Alan Wake (not really scary, but tension-filled nonetheless)

I suggest the first Condemned the most. Wait 'til you get to the apple orchard.

Thief 3 deadly shadows just take a game file to the shalebridge cradle with minimum suplies and play through it on halloween. The whole game isn't scary but the cradle has got to be the sacriest thing I've seen in video games so far.
The first hours of Call of cuthulu dark corners of the earth are also scary (Until the game gives you a weapon and you start seeing some awefull AI flaws and the mechanics meant to scare you become redundant.)
Also as said before penumbra can be pretty scary (the first one)
