i liked the sub of D.Grayman (if u like Full Metal Alchemist).

i think all the movies that Sashosi Kon (Perfect Blue, Paprika, and Tokyo Godfathers) did were excellent movies.

Why is everyone loving Elfen Lied? the idea of main characters being so expendable is a horrible idea.

Yugioh, subbed though. The dubbed (and censored) version is terrible. If you don't like the whole card games business that much try Yugioh season 0.
Oh god, I have the first two volumes of the manga (the one which was made into Series 0.) Its amazingly dark. When you go from the 4kids butchering to that... its quite a delightful shock.
Yami tricks an escaped death row prisoner holding up a restaurant into soaking himself with alcohol then setting himself on fire after lighting a cigarette. Also featuring fan service.

Monster was a gem as well, bit slow at points but well worth spending time on (even if the plot is rather far fetched).
If you think Monster's plot is farfetched, wait 'till you've read 20th Century Boys (also by Urasawa). Even though it's equally as awesome as Monster, the last third of the story is completly batshit bonkers.

Another manga I can recomend is BLAME! (exclamation mark is part of the title). BLAME! has a cyberpunk setting with a scoop of post-apocalysm, alot of cybergoth aestetics and some VERY impressive overview shots.

The story is pretty simple but almost impossible to follow on the first read, due to the fact that there is VERY little spoken dialogue, and barely any exposition. It's mostly up to the reader to puzzle together what's going on. It's set in some kind of structure filled with hallways, laboratoria, computers, gaping canyons and enormous cavernous spaces seemingly stretching towards infinity in all three directions. What it exactly is, is never openly stated, but enough hints are given to figure it out yourself. There's also a prequel called NOiSE, before the structure became as friggin's huge as it is.

As with Berserk, BLAME!'s art goes through some changes, though the faces keep looking a little off.

My favourites are Trigun, Ghost in the Shell, Hellsing and Berserk. Full Metal Alchemist is also awesome, if rather incredibly bleak at times. Studio Ghibli stuff? They're pretty cool. Bleach would keep you occupied for a while, though it gets rather messy and a bit lame after a while.

I watched Elfen Lied myself, and though I first admired the dark background, in retrospect it's incredibily overdone. The ecchi-scenes were obnoxious and comepletely destroyed any and all build-up of drama; as far as being the ONLY character who wasn't mentally scarred for life, Yuka is still an enormous *****: blaming Kouta for forgetting her, after he surpressed all his memories due to seeing his father and sister being shredded to ribbons by the lonely girl he befriended a few days earlier. Lucy's flashback though was ok.

Elfen Lied is pretty much a (very much) darker version of Chobits; both female leads are inhuman to a degree, their personalities are scrambled, they unwittingly give out sexual signals and both even have cat-ear like protrusions coming out the side of their skull. Both shows even adress human-nonhuman relationships, though from a different point of view. I haven't watched Chobits beyond episode 12, because I couldn't bear the enormous ammounts of Chii's innocence and naivity; whatever hints of a greater mystery were given just weren't enough to keep me interested.

Monster(I forget how old it is but as far as cop/mystery drama goes its one of the best)
THAT one, how come only ONE person mentioned it? Urasawa is a friggin' god of mystery and nailbiting suspense. Almost everything he makes is pure, solid, gold.

Casshern Sins was ok for a while: self-aware androids confronted with some all-consuming corosion which passes for death to them for the first time and having them desperatly cling to their artificial lives. I couldn't watch is very long, because every one, ESPECIALLY the protagonist, kept whining and angsting about the Ruin (as the corosion is known) to an insufferable degree.

Berserk was pretty good, though you'd better read the manga. The art in the first few volumes lies somewhere deep in the uncanny valley, but eventually becomes one of the best.
Be warned, Miura takes a HELL lot of time to tell a story (running for 20 years now, and nowhere near a conclusion) and a HELL lot of time to release new chapters; around once every two months, if you're lucky.

Everything else I could think of has already been reccomended by everyone before me
I ran across mosnter didnt think much of the synopsis but god I was hooked when I started it,Casshern Sins is ok I like it but not enough to recommend it as its meanders and wonders.

Berserk anime is simply unfinished they did what 1/4th of its current manga? Anyway I here a new anime will be made, the manag is good but damnit he wont make the new ones much anymore.....

It isnt gore porno, it just have some gore and nudity because it is needed.
It's funny because you're wrong.

Then explain to me, in what way is the constant gore and nudity 'needed'?

It's a very weak "Love Hina meets Splatterpunk" trainwreck of an anime. The only reason it's noticable at all is because it's goreporn. If it's not distracting the viewer from the horrible story by having naked little girls run around, it's distracting the viewer by violently dismembering said little girls.

*cough* well, Elfen Lied is a great anime, tho it is very graphic. just be sure not to watch it infront of your mum and dad :D
