Thanks for the recommendations so far guys, but I'm also not against broadening my horizons. So just your favorite bands, or just some obscure stuff would be awesome.
Hmm, well since you just gave me license to do so, I shall point you at a list of bands I've written things about previously; while I'm not really making even a trifling effort to tailor the list to your specific tastes, I am providing you with a detailed write-up of the band/album, and an embedded link to at least one of their songs - I like to think that's a lot more useful than simply spouting off names without any context or details.

As I post this only one of these bands has been mentioned previously by somebody else (Within Temptation). Huzzah for obscurity.

If I had to recommend a band based off your tastes it would be Kasabian. Their singer sounds like Alex turner, which I like as an arctic monkeys fan, and they have great composing talent. They are more electronic, but they have a wide variety of sound, and are generally enjoyable to listen to, even if their lyrics are raw gibberish.

If I had to give favorites, it would be Rush. You don't find a group like that often. They are unique based off the incredible talent each band member has and the unity that makes them sound so good. I would recommend getting a best of album though, as a sort of sampler, though Exit Stage Left is wonderful for starters.

Daft Punk or Chicane. One is Dance Techno the other is Trance Techno. Both sub-genres of the Electric Music Genre. Both great.
Better? And thanks for the crash course in Electric Music.

And Flogging Molly: Irish rock
im a nitpicky little ***** so i have to point out, Trance and Techno are both subgenres of the Electronic Music genre, Trance is under 130 BPM where as Techno is above 150. SORRY!!! DONT HATE MEEEE!

Dropkick Murphys, if you enjoy Flogging molly, you'll love these guys.
This, plus Mad Bomber Society, The Afterbeats, The Nekromantics, Squirrel Nut Zippers, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Rayguns Cowboys and Nashville Pussy.
let me add in the tossers and you're set. :)
Actually, I'd also like to add Tom Waits and Sage Francis, both on the Anti-Records label; Anti-Records won't sign the carbon-print, mass-produced artists, so almost ANYTHING on their label is going to be interesting.
