Hey so my girlfriend is starting to get into gaming (I know how awesome right) once she gets into a game it almost becomes addicting to her (she will have longer gaming sessions then me if she really likes the game). Anyways the only that is stopping her from getting more into is the lack of games that appeal to her. She has a really picky taste but if I find a game she likes she'll play it. The games she likes most right now are little big planet, the uncharted series, and splinter cell conviction. I tried getting her on the previous splinter cells but she didn't like it. I also got her tomb raider thinking she might like it but she didn't. She doesn't want to fight aliens or zombies or anything like that. Also she is not a big fan of horror games. She tried Assassin's Creed I as well but that didn't fly, I might get her to try Assassin's Creed 2 though. We also played a little bit of Call of Duty World at War single player campaign which was ok but I don't think she was thrilled. I was hoping you guys could give me some games that might appeal to her.

We are not limited by system either all 3 current generations are available although she isnt a big fan of the wii.

Bonus points if you can recommend a game that is split screen co-op. She likes games we can play together.

New Super Mario Bro is good if your not too competitive, Donkey Kong aswell if you want to end up hating each other for wasting the lives of the other person.

Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts is split-screen multiplayer (if anybody is online) I think, and its a nice creative game, also its now dirty cheap. Also Fable games (dunno about first but 2 and 3) have Co-Op I belive.

If she wouldn't have played as much games, Beyond Good & Evil would've been an awesome starting point to "core gaming".

That said, still very recommendable.

Other than that it seems kinda hard to recommend anything since her tastes seem, well, jumpy.

Although you said "no horror", you may want to try Alan Wake. Or Max Payne 1+2.

As for Coop, try Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. Although it looks like a Tomb Raider Game, it plays very different than that, and is a very fun cooperative experience.
And if you can get it for cheap, try Army of Two. It's not really a stellar game, but still better than most people claim, and another fun local coop game.

This, I bought Katamari Forever which is on the PS3 very cheap and my girlfriend has been having a lot of fun with the game and enjoys it. It has some bonus split screen modes but we haven't really touched them much and take it in turns to try levels etc.

Smash Bros. on the Wii is also a blast with multiple people and has plenty of content.

I was going to instantly say LBP 1 and 2, I only ever play it co-op with her and it's so much fun.

That's about all I can really think of at the moment.

If you have a PC, any MMO.

If this is console only, I have no idea. Katamari Damacy, because everyone should own and love it.

If she liked LBP, give some of Nintendo's multiplayer 2D platformers a try (New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Donkey Kong Country Returns, and Kirby's Epic Yarn). Give Mario Kart Wii and Smash Bros. Brawl...I know you said she wasn't a big fan of the wii, but it really is the go to console for local multiplayer this generation.

Over on the 360, has she tried Oblivion or Fallout 3? And how does she fill about cowboys? If she likes Mario Kart (or just wants a fun racer), try Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing. Speaking of Sonic, if you or her are fans of old school games, pick up Sonic's Ultimate Genesis collection if you see it laying around. And there's Bomberman Live, which has a local and online multiplayer.

Some...or, I don't know, mabye all, of the "360" games may be on the PS3. I, unfortunately, do not own one, so I don't keep track of what's on both consoles. Only the two Sonic games (the second of which is really about 30 games on one disc) and the bomberman game have local multiplayer.

Horror games? The 360 doesn't have any horror games outside of one slight exception on XBLA. You want to get her a horror game, you'd have to introduce her to PC gaming or dust off the PS2.
...ah well. I had a similar event recently with my girlfriend as well. Normally when she has problems sleeping she'll curl up next to me and watch me play BioShock until she dozes off. But after she saw The Orange Box she began to get curious, and eventually asked if she could play Dead to Rights: Retribution.
Two things i took note of. One, she's more into "Play as a dog" portions of a game than i am, which is kind of impressive. Two, she is too damn good at third person shooters. She was able to actually keep track of the tiny white dot that appears when you're not holding down the aim button and was making shots that i couldn't make if my life depended on it. She played Splinter Cell Conviction after that and sure enough, she was practically invincible and then afterwords began threatening to kill me if i bought another cover based 3rd person shooter again.
Anyway, The Orange Box is definitely one worth grabbing. People who have died before they played Portal lived an empty and meaningless existence. Some games that are best played co-op are worth exploring now that you have a possible partner, and a successful co-op game can possibly trigger a flag if you know what i mean. RE5 is tolerable when you don't have to depend on the completely fucking worthless AI, Conviction has a unique campaign for co-op play. But really, i won't make further guesses because i don't know enough about your girlfriends tastes. Use Zero Punctuation to find Yahtzee's recommendations, if a game can please total hardasses it's at least worth exploring.

My wife and I have played an inordinate amount of games together and she pretty much loves everything except Madden. But to narrow it down ... it sort of depends. Is she good at FPS games? Because L4D2 isn't really scary and my wife and I are total addicts - and you can play it online together, which is cool. My wife is absolutely in love with Eternal Sonata - I basically let her take the reigns when it came to running around, but when battles come, there's up to 3 player co-op. (Once you have a party of at least 2 people - you'll have that in no time flat) It's a nice game because you can follow the story, enjoy the occasional fighting interludes and just have mindless fun together.

Speaking of mindless fun, give Samurai Warriors 2 a try - keep in mind though, if she's looking for a challenge she might be bored soon. It's splitscreen multiplayer, and is a game where you can chat and continuously mash x to win. But at least you're doing it together!

My wife enjoys Fable II and III way more than I do - the 'co-op' is horrendous though, don't do it - it's one screen. It doesn't work.

The lego series are good for a laugh - my wife and I managed to 100% the indiana jones one ... so much time.

Dude, if she likes Uncharted, go old school and pick up Prince of Persia - Sands of Time... or one of the more recent ones, whatever. It's uncharted without Drake and guns, but with swords and the Prince. It's a pretty fair tradeoff. Unfortunately no co-op there.

Alright, well that's a start. Oh, A World of Keflings - try the demo first. If she likes it, you can do that co-op, but it's hard as hell to get yourselves organized properly.

Well just becuase she female doesn't mean she won't like the same games a guy will, she does sound picky though which I guess does you credit ;)

I'm not sure which platform you have so I'm just going to suggest some games. Try her on oblivion or maybe fallout she sounds like she enjoys stealth so playing a sniper or archer in those games will probably appeal. I agree with Devil Wolf on the Orange Box definately.

Why not try Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light its a co- op game. If she is a creative person try The Sims 3 it's an easy going and relaxing game. PC wise It also has a really friendly community that is predominantly female. I enjoy playing it if I'm not in the mood for more intense games.

N+ coop campaign is pretty awesome if you guys both have good platforming skills or aren't afraid to grind it out.

Left 4 Dead ain't half bad either.

Earth Defense Force 2017 is awesome if you like arcade 3rd person shooters.

Resident Evil Fi-no zombies? Bah. I should note that it isn't scary or even all that gruesome, it's mostly just goofy fun with some violence and scary music thrown in.

Rez HD: Abstract graphics and electronic music.

Mass Effect: I know you said 'no aliens', but BioWare games have a considerable following among female gamers. It's worth a try, anyway.

Valkyria Chronicles: A little melodramatic, but it's a solid SRPG with a lot of story. It could be a gateway.

Portal: Everyone likes this game, more or less.

Sorry I can't recommend more co-op games, this generation hasn't been kind to that feature.

[sub]When you say Tomb Raider, do you mean the old ones or the XBLA/PSN title?[/sub]

My wife and I have been playing Katamari games since Damacy. The new ones have pretty good 2p options but we tend to just pass the controller. Same with Peggle.

She likes to play Blops (both in split screen with me and/or on line with her friends) but she hasn't touched the single player campaign.
If she digs that too you might also want to try Borderlands and Warhawk.

But the game from this gen that?s probably thrilled her the most this gen is Fallout 3. It?s not 2p but I have fun watching her play through it and seeing the decisions she makes.

We also played quite a bit of Sacred 2 and you can probably find that for a good price.
