I know she didn't like the wii that much but if neither of you have tried too many RPG games the Tales of Symphonia series (there are 2 games) of which the first one is the better and you can play co-op (battles, only one runs around but you can solve the puzzles together). I've played the first one 3 times, once alone, once with 1+ friend and once 4 player co-op which was great fun ^^.

Try getting her to play the earlier Splinter Cells.

EDIT: Damn, you said she doesn't like them. Wait, dammit, double-post.

DISREGARD!!!!!

If she liked Conviction but found the other Splinter Cells too slow, you could try getting her to play The Bourne Legacy, Goldeneye, and Alpha Protocol.

Stop bitching about Alpha Protocol please.

That surprises me that she likes Conviction but not Assassin's Creed. I'd agree with you in saying that she should try AC2 or Brotherhood.

Has she tried any Bethesda games? Oblivion, Morrowind, or Fallout? I was hooked from the first time I played them, and now I barely ever see the light of day (200+ Hours on all 3 of those listed). If she ends up enjoying those games with an addictive personality like that, she'll have a blast with them.

Uncharted, Splinter Cell, LBP. I guess her tastes are third person shooters?
Uh try, Ratchet and Clank (it's technically a plat former but the main focus is on weapons).

Now for one that's split screen ... Ooh wait does she like any fighting games?
I don't think she is into fighting games, I am not too picky myself I am just lost for ideas as to what she might be interested in, but the idea of third person shooters is pretty accurate.

Actually I never thought about those games...ironically I have all of them save Goldeneye (Goldeneye is so obvious she is a james bond fan too) I think I might suggest those ones.

To everyone: Thank you all so much I've got lots of games to suggest to her. We may very well have another join our ranks soon :)

I recommend Way of the Samurai 2 if you can get a hold of it.
Otherwise the third one is adequate enough. A ton of endings and a lot to do in it.

Portal, perhaps? Portal 2 (which is released soon) will even feature one single player campaign, and another fully seperate for co-op. Also, on steam you currently get either one copy for 45 euro (or 45 dollars I suppose, if you're US), or you can buy two copies for 80 euro (still, 80 in US), and you also get a copy of Portal 1 per copy of Portal 2 you buy. (This is starting to feel more like a commercial than a recommendation. But still, it's a pretty epic game).

Any sports titles? Try some of the demos of sports your interested in, and even necessarily ones you don't. I got NBA 2K11 and I have never watched a game of basketball in my life and its great fun, I even manged to my best friend who is a girl to like it.

I know she said no aliens, but the Halo games are great for co-op.

Also, try Army of Two?

For whatever console you have, get the one of the Lego games. You probably know the stories, so seeing them in a new way helps get her into the game. Pick one to her taste, and play together (it's single screen local co-cop for 2 players). You get her into video games, and she gets to spend some time getting into one of your hobbies. This is a tried and tested method. If you've got a PS3, rent/demo/buy Little Big Planet as well. But, to really pique her interest, go for the Lego games. If you're packing a Wii, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Mario Kart, and Donkey Kong Country Returns, possibly with Kirby's Epic Yarn as well (tested and played with my girl all by Kirby, and she's gotten into other games as a result). Games with stories I've found work better than games without.

I'm in the same situation as OP. Although my gf doesn't play many games (apart from iPhone ones), she does try to get involved with the ones I play. She wanted to try out Starcraft 2, and I taught her how to play...utterly cute of her to do that, but I know she has no real interest. We play LBP instead on her brothers Wii

{Lady here.}

Fantasy RPGS. Bitches love Fantasy RPGS.

Bioware or Bethesda. Not sure if it's considered truly 'Fantasy' in terms of dragons, knights, and kings ; but Fallout 3 / Fallout: New Vegas as well.((Edit: I can't believe I forgot the Mass Effect series.)) I love these games, you know why, character creators! If she has the imagination, she'll be on that character creator for a good 30 minutes to an hour, making her character awesome and making it her own. She'll be far more inclined to see it through. Or maybe that's just me. Of course you also HAVE to introduce her to Psychonauts. It's a must. It's cartoony, kooky, and a damn good time. If she wants more of a challenge, and something to look at, perhaps she'll enjoy Shadow of the Colossus. She'll probably feel pretty epic taking down one of those suckers. I know I did. Even the Fable series, is something for her to try.

If you mean co-op, try League of Legends or L4D/L4D2. I know you said, 'No Zombies',..but I love Zombies - so I always recommend it. And of course the soon to be, Portal 2. Or, you could both get into an MMO together, w.o.w, RIFT, LOTR. And just limit your time on it, to when you play together. Quality time.

My husband and I don't really play games together though. That's our much needed alone time. I mean we'll occasionally play a game together, perhaps a round of L.o.L, or we'll lay about on the couch playing Pokemon on our D.S.'s and watching a movie. But for the most part, we each retire to a separate office where are command centers are,..and then meet for dinner later.

Do you have a PS2 or is your PS3 backwards compatible? Also, do you not have any problems with weird, kind of cutesy japanese-y games?

If so, I couldn't recommend more highly The Adventures of Cookie and Cream [http://videogamegeek.com/videogame/74302/the-adventures-of-cookie-cream].

It's a split screen puzzle-platformer that is very simple to play but has some pretty fun challenges. You can probably find it on EBay with little trouble. The only thing it's got going against it (for some people, anyway, not me) is the bright colors and the kind of cutesy, kiddy characters. I really love the game myself.
