After playing terrible game after terrible game (Borderlands, GTA IV, Overlord II, Far Cry 2, Prince of Persia, Mirror's Edge,...) and being frustrated for a very long time, I'd love to see a NORMAL game for once, one that's actually good or at least nice (such as Wolfenstein, Dead Space, MGS4, Oblivion, F.E.A.R. 1 & 2, Cryostasis, Demigod, Dawn of War II, Bioshock, Assassin's Creed, Section 8...).

Can anyone help me out and recommend a game based on the games listed above for me? I'd prefer a game made from 2004-present. I don't care about the graphics.

EDIT: Is Baldur's gate (what particular game), Neverwinter Nights or Red Faction Guerilla any good? I really love games with RPG elements like progression. (Thats why Borderlands disapointed me so much.)

Thank you very much.
i played baldurs gate with my friend it is infact a good game, but it does show its age. if you have a decent pc i would say dawn of war (an rts game based in th warhammer universe).

Yeah, you have a point with that one xD but I meant games like Mario or Megaman, those frustrate me too, that's why I put that time limit in it. :)

Alright then include silent hill 2 and soul reaver 2 to my list, also any of the fatal frame games

Personally, I think you're suffering from an FPS overdose, so I'm recommending Hotel Dusk: Room 215 for the DS. It'll make you think and bring bits of your brain besides the aim-shoot-kill parts back to life.

However, if you do indeed want a good FPS, RE4? I know it's been recommended already, but it really is worth a look.

Since you menction MGS4, I guess you have a PS3.

In that case, my recomendations are Uncharted 2 and Batman

I disagree with a few points in your list. Borderlands was amazing. Sure the RPG elements were weak but it's still enough to keep the gun play form getting boring, and Bioshock was nothing but a frantic hunt for healing items. Sure combat was fun for the two times I actually had enough life to play a complete fight.

Anyway, back on topic I suggest another run through of Borderlands, maybe a different character (Who did you play as? I loved the Hunter but hated the Siren) and Fallout 3, which is my favorite game ever just in front of (you guessed it) Borderlands.

MGS4
PSYCHONAUTS
UNCHARTED 2 (masterpiece, definitely ahead of its time.)
MASS EFFECT (if you don't have an xbox360 its also available on pc.)
STREET FIGHTER IV (i wouldn't recommend this if you're not a fighter fan, its pretty complex but once you get in to it and become good at it you won't want to stop playing!)

Another alternative is just waiting a week or so and playing games you currently own until modern warfare 2 and assasins creed 2 come out.

There is nothing better.

You know that my opinion was just that there wore no greater games than those 3.

Sure have, but you don't seem to grasp the meaning of it.
Apparently, neither do you. He stated his opinion, just as you did.

OT: Killing Floor, Company of Heroes (since you liked DoW 2), World of Goo, Plants vs Zombies, Trine, and STALKER I can recommend just from glancing over my Steam list.

You are entitled to your opinions, and if you didn't like, or even hated, a game like GTA4, then you have every right to do so. However, you did not express your view as an opinion. You didn't say that you hated GTA4, you called it a "terrible, terrible game." And so, people are going to figure that that statement is based on objective standards, like gameplay issues, graphics, and that sort of thing, and if they themselves feel that there is no outstanding flaw to the game, then what sort of response do you expect to arise? At the very least, rather than just say "It's an OPINION. Ever heard of it?" maybe you'd like to explain WHY you felt that those games were flawed or overrated so that we can determine what games you might actually enjoy?

EDIT: This is not to say that I generally take his side, though, because shortly after posting this, I read his follow-up posts, which reveal his true level of maturity and intelligence.

I highly recommend Neverwinter Nights (BioWare). If you get it just go for Diamond/ Platinum edition. It includes the expansions and 3 premium modules as well. The great thing about NWN is that if you know how to program/script, you can make your own mods. There is a site that hosts user made content. Baldur's Gate is pretty good. I some what preferred Dark Alliance 1 over 2 but they both ranked High in my book. But for Neverwinter Nights do NOT get NWN 2 from Obsidian. I have played it and it's expansions and it isn't good. Knights of the Old Republic is a good game (also by BioWare). And if you are interested in a action/stealth game go with Tenchu Z. It's a Ninja game but it is nothing like Ninja Gaiden 2. Which Is good. Unless you liked Ninja Gaiden 2.

I also Love RPG games so that's why I put my full support in NWN, KOTOR, and BG:DA 1 & 2.

I gladly recommend,

World in conflict- Epic story, great gameplay and explosions that will make ur hair go crispy
Frontlines fuel of war- A slighly short campaign still challenging at points not bad
Call of Duty series- no explanation needed :p

Evil Genius

It's on STEAM these days...a very good game. Slightly rough around the edges, but the premise, execution and performance of its gameplay is some of the best around. Also, it;s very funny.

You get to be an evil genius, raising an army of minions and henchmen on a secret island base, designing your own base and the traps within, fending off anything from investigators to sabotuears to soldiers from various world powers

GO GET IT NOW

But please PLEASE look into it
I totally agree, Evil Genius is awesome.
Also try Dungeon Keeper 2 and the Orange Box.
