Black Lagoon if you want something adult and violent, but not all about sex.
It's got pirates, girls with guns, and the Russian mafia, what more do you want?

Or to go with my avatar, Digimon. No seriously, Digimon. It's not just a Pokemon rip-off and the anime is tons better. And it's pretty darn kid-friendly.

As a non anime fan I would say one of the few animes that I enjoyed was Witch Hunter Robin. Fairly straight forward concept that your mom would understand unless she has an irrational hatred for anything that looks remotely goth.

You want an anime that is good, but also completely non-offensive?

Try Azumanga Daioh.

That's not about tentacle rape? ...most of them.

If she likes incredibly adorable, overwhelmingly tragic, yet incredibly happy anime, Clannad is the way to go.

If she likes intelligent psychological thrillers, Death Note is for her.

If she likes fantasy, go with Orphen for a relatively non-bloody and light-hearted one, and Full Metal Alchemist for a bit more intensity.

If she likes sci-fi, check out Cowboy Bebop or Trigun.

If you want something exceptionally innocent, try Digimon Tamers; a children's show, yes, but this particular Digimon season is incredible.

Samurai Seven. It does have violence, and mature themes, but it's tastefully and intelligently done. It forces you to think about money, class warfare, relationships, coming of age, passing the torch, the nature of courage, and many other things.

Fruits Basket is pretty harmless, which may seem odd at first considering the premise (teenage girl lives with two teenage boys and a man in his twenties). It's a character-driven series with a general "feel good" vibe, though it isn't afraid to tackle intense emotional drama at times. The raciest example I can think of is the hot springs episode, and even then it's pretty darn tame (each gender has its own walled-off spring and any nudity is tastefully censored).

Dance in the Vampire Bund, it has a bit of slow start but very well rounded with lots of violence, romace, and comedy.
also Demon King Daimao was awsome, it was really short tho (12 episodes) and has some some big athiest undertones and are pretty suprising from an anime but does nt take anything away from its silly ness

Why you ask?

No tentacles, no rape, no directly or overtly or excessive sexual themes, no blood guts or gore. So what does it have? Great story, great action, great characters and complex symbolism and storytelling mechanisms. Plus, only 6 epps long. Full of win, no matter how many times you watch it.
wut?

OT: Cowboy Bebop is a good answer.

Kinos Journey, The Place Promised In Our Early Days (WARNING: first half could only move slower if you took out the disk and put it in front of a glacier!) Serial Experiments Lain, Ghost in the Shell, 5 Centimeters A Second, ANYTHING Studio Ghibli has made, and Appleseed. That should be enough to convince her. I love all of those and I'm not even an anime fan.

Pardon me for prying, BUUUUUT have you ever actually watched Fooly Cooly? I mean it's pretty blatant at times.

Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Samurai Champloo. Those three are all very good, but also easy to follow and very clearly not about tentacle rape. I would maybe start with Trigun, it has that Western look and Vash tries not to kill people, so that's a plus with parents.

You can always go with any of the kiddo animes, anything that ends in 'mon' or is specifically designed to sell cheap useless crap.
Or you could go the route of more adult-oriented (yet not porno) anime like FullMetal Alchemist, Trigun, Evangelion (no tentacle rape, but heavy on the mind-fuck), Claymore or Blue Gender.
Blue Gender? Are you serious? Sure it lacks in the more conventional type of sexy, but the themes and overtones of Blue Gender are ALL about sex.
Though as far as I can recall (I haven't watched thew series in some time) there wasn't any rape (tentacle or otherwise.
Yeah but you have to keep in mind that the creatures have vaginas instead of mouths :p

What about regular rape? Is that free game?
