The only Manga that I actually try to keep up to date with is One Piece. I personally like it because it manages to keep me interested and the characters that are given, especially the villains, are developed in a very interesting way. Plus, it has a talking Skeleton with an Afro that can play any instrument!

can someone tell me if FMA is over?
Its not over yet but its getting pretty damn close. I know this because the most recent chapter is called "The Final Battle".
OT: I recommend Negima. It starts out as a pretty generic ecchi manga that doesn't seem to have a plot but once it starts developing one it gets pretty damn good.
They confirmed several months ago that the last chapter of FMA would be next month. I think the Brotherhood anime is coming to a close at the same time.

ANYWAY, as far as suggestions go:
-Vinland Saga
-Berserk
-Onani Master Kurosawa
-Baccano (anime, but only 16 episodes long)
Baccano is AWESOME, first time I had seen the setting like that in an anime, and the story and characters are really compelling and interesting, absolutely recommend it as well.

Come to think of it, is it illigal to even mention this manga/anime? (hahaha screw you America I don't live in your continent so I can read whatever I want muahahahaha(jk)
Also Kodomo no Jikan(manga) (if you enjoy coming of age stories with way to ecchi scenes (story is great tho and it's quite funny)

Berserk, it is the only manga that I can tolerate to read consistently. The art in the beginning is nothing special, but at this point it has become what I think is some of the most amazing manga artistry I have ever seen. The story is quite depressing at times, but it is very well done and the characters are great.

WARNING: Berserk contains extreme levels of violence as well as frequent nudity and some sexual scenes as well.

None, go read a comic book like a real man.
Reading comics makes you manly?
Apparently, according to him.

I read both, what does that make me I wonder...

Black Cat is my absolute favorite, characters are awesome, story is quirky, action sequences are fantastic. Also the anime is unfaithful with the art and characters so the manga is the preferable way to get it.

If you can stomach some serious gore, I highly recommend Gantz.

Not quite like FMA, but good regardless.

Sorry this is a bit off topic but whats the difference between a manga and an anime?
Manga is a graphic novel or comic. Anime is a cartoon.
Also, one goes till the ending with its original creator's vision and the other... the other goes and runs out of money mid-way, create an alternate history with a crazy ass plot and finishes it with a gainax ending.
Aye, Gantz has a really terrible filler ending in the anime.

The manga however, IIRC, is still running it's course.
I don't get how people still follow that manga. I used to love it at the first couple of chapters, but later it started going crazier, the plot went to hell and the characters became boring, dunno... stopped loving it midway through, same with bleach, it all became about the fighting... got boring.

I still love naruto, specially since the biggest plot twist in the series, that gave it new life for me (not talking any further about said plot twist, because its a huge spoiler)

I recommend "Battle Angel Alita" by Yukito Kishiro. My name and avatar both come from that manga. Read the original, then move on to "The Last Order" sequel if you like it.

There has been a live-action movie in the make for that manga for the longest of time.

I can stomach some serious gore -evil grin-. I'll check out a synopsis of Gantz.
Seriously! Ive read quite a few manga in my day haha XD but Gantz completely destroys every other manga I have read. The character development is A-mazing! and it just takes your breath away. Im gonna cry!! damn its so awesome I highly recommend it as well. and if you can take all the blood and guts its a really great read.

Shaman Warrior. Technically it's not manga (it's Korean), but the art is amazing. It is really, very, very, spectacular. Read it.

WHAT?! what character development?! where?! what the fuck did I miss in the effing manga?!
Last time I read it it was something like, Main character manly, Main character loves his girlfriend over j-pop (extremely hotly drawn btw) star, Main character dead, Main character double-revived. Main character evil twin sad to be fucking j-pop star.
Oh yeah, also, there is a gantz factory in germany... WHAT OMG NOOOOOOOOOOOO... wtf?!
Plot: absurd, Characters: absurd, Drawings: actually kind of cool, Fightscenes: too repetitive? I mean ever since the mission with the guys with the BFG, all missions were the same.
What's the point in the series anymore?
Save themselves=lose all memories, more than likely, die in the hand of the vampires who hunt the ET-killers.
Continue playing forever=die eventually in the hand of aliens while kind of trying to save the world, althought not actually saving it because you seem to be the reason they keep attacking (as in, you killed my niichan, YOU'LL DIE!!!)
Really, I stopped understanding the point to this manga a LONG time ago

One piece, the whole idea of the manga is kinda silly, but the amount of seriousness and character development is insane.

Have you by any chance read Veritas? also korean, so friggin sweet.
The drawings are very different from mangas, but they make the fights look awesome.
And the fights are so much fun. Characters are pretty straight foward, they're all quite stereotipicly one dimentioned, but overall I love this manwha, feels a lot like rorouni kenshin/yu-yu hakusho

The idea isn't all that silly, everyone wants to get a huge "treasure". Good guys want it, bad guys just want to plunder innocent villages. Everyone wants adventure. Its simple and cool, I love it. Yes, sometimes the characters history can get a bit overwhelming though... the thing that they're showing in the last issues, the luffy-and-ace-as-kids story is kind of confusing and I don't quite get where they wanna go with it.
edit: I seriously need:
a) to stop double posting or
b) people to post faster than me.
