Here's some music that's not crap. I'm a big down-tempo/neo-soul kinda girl, so this fits me like a glove.

Click the spoiler tags for the videos so as not to further clog up the page.

Edited for link fixin'...and I do love me some Echo and the Bmen, though I'm surprised that's the song you picked for them. Check out "The Church" if you like Echo.

OP, I went to one of those Rise Against shows. The Australia, New Zealand tour, right?
If you're into them I'd recommend some Bad Religion, and for the more Hardcore stuff, Sick Of It All, and you may like Minor Threat (Grand-daddy of all Harcore Punk).
Bad-Religion: Dodo
Generator
American Jesus
Sick Of It All: Built To Last
Betray(Cover)
Death or Jail
Take the Night Off
Minor Threat: Minor Threat.
(I don't bother with links, half of the music ones get taken down or are area coded, Australians are almost always locked out)
On a side note, anyone know of some good tracks to look up in the Hardcore/Melodic Punk area?
And I'm running low on my classical and chamber music.

Hm... you like any genre, huh? I don't have any videos, but I will recommend some bands/singers I like (I have a bit of a varied taste...):

Queen
Linkin Park (Yes, I know, shut up, I honestly like their music...)
Nickleback (Them too.)
Daughtry
Gorillaz
Daft Punk
The Protomen (They do a rock opera version of the Megaman series. Yes, really)
Dave Matthews Band
"Weird Al" Yankovic (...what?)
Cage the Elephant
System of a Down

Hope this helps...

I never want to hear of or see this band again... Really not my cup of tea. And the fans are infuriating, kinda like Escape the Fate's fanbase of screaming 12 year old girls.
Most of it's fans just want to be left alone, that's actualy what that song is about, or at least all of their fans I know do, which is a lot in my area, sorry if their different where you come from

I know you shouldn't judge on image, but what is it about bands who sing about not being accepted and being outcasts, when they all look like they just stepped out of a hair products TV ad?

I know my era had Poison and other such glam rock, but damn, at least they were enjoying themselves :D

I can't remember what band it was, but I saw one recently, it was all angsty, yet they looked like the male cast of Hannah Montana.

It's hard to feel for you when you're obviously spending a few hundred bucks and about 8 hours a day on your image.

I guess I'm just from the era when you could look like Lemmy from Motorhead or Meatloaf and succeed thru talent. I do wonder if Motorhead or Meatloaf would get anywhere nowadays.

Anyways, I'm gonna post my favourite current unknown scottish shouty type, he's worked with Tricky and Gary Numan, and I think he's excellent.

The second one's weird, in that I never thought I could listen to 3 minutes of a siren going off and it be enjoyable... and that the theme of the kid in the back seat of the car driven by his parents reminds me of many, many eternity-long drives to holiday camps as a kid, when I felt like I'd do anything to escape the back seat a few hours in. Something quite cathartic to the end of the video :)

Joe Satriani is a guitar god. He mentored Kirk Hammett along with many other awesome guitarists.

And his experience shows, his songs will blow you away the first time you hear them.

Joe Satriani is indeed a guitar god. He is one of my main guitar influences along with Steve Vai and Andy Mckee and I aspire to be as good as guitar as them one day although it will probably never happen.

"OH MAH GAWD ANDY SIX IS SO HAWT!" no he isn't he looks like a fagot. Not in the gay way but in the Louis C.K. way. I was just at warped tour yesterday and BVB was there and it was disgusting just looking at them.

OT: If you like Anberlin i recommend Jack's Mannequin. To be fair Ill recommend them to anyone who doesn't only listen to metal or only rap.

Yes, yes, another "Recommend me" thread...

I've tired my extensive collection of music and I need some different stuff. I like almost anything, but some of my favourite bands include Tool, Radiohead, The Beatles, Wu-Tang Clan, Parkway Drive, Metallica, Anberlin, At The Drive-In, Foo Fighters, Nine Inch Nails, Pendulum, Netsky, deadmau5 and Nirvana. Basically anything that's good, no matter what genre or style. I really enjoy obscure covers and remixes as well, so those would be much appreciated.

Thank you ladies and gentlemen :)
For he love of god, please stay away from generic mainstream pop. try to go a week without listening to any pop at all, and then you will understand.

OT: Try Rise Against. They're my favorite band right now. Alexisonfire is pretty good, Skrillex is a great techno group, Epica is a fantastic Gothic Metal Band (imagine an orchestra accompanying a metal band and they did and AMAZING Imperial March cover) and try some Vivaldi. Nice way to unwind.

EDIT: And Anamanaguchi

Mainly because I'm a big fan of them and they've had a new album out recently, I'm gonna recommend Theory Of A Deadman, especially their 2 most recent albums, even though I like most of all of them. If you ever played Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) then you'll recognise a couple of their songs.

My favourite song from the new album at the moment

Also quite a fan of Red Hot Chilli Pepper's new song which was leaked early apparently

Also a big fan of Linkin Park as well, so most of their music is pretty good in my opinion.

EDIT: Oh, and these guys as well. Can't beat Rise Against sometimes as well.

Billy Talent. They're definitely an, er, acquired taste, but one of my all time favorites.

Elliot Smith. Lyrical fucking genius. The whole album XO was probably my favorite album of all time.

AWOLNation is pretty awesome.

The Black Keys, Blue October, Brighteyes.

Cage the Elephant, Cake...

Oh, whoops. Looks like I'm just going through my library now.

Can't really help with the classical but a few good melodic hardcore or similar bands are Strung Out, Polar Bear Club, and pretty much anyone signed to Bridge 9 Records.

Also, check out The Kidcrash, they have alll of their stuff for free download here: http://denovali.com/kidcrash/
If you like it, then donate, they're a fairly small band.

No Empathy - excellent melodic punk from Chicago. They're virtual unknowns, but you can find their shit on iTunes.
Primus - The single best Alternative Metal band ever, and my favorite band of all time, bar none. These dudes are the epitome of crazy awesome.
Deftones - Excellent alt metal - The metal parts are good, but what really makes their music are the melodic bits.
They Might Be Giants - Fun, goofy nerd rock. A perennial favorite of mine.
The Clash - If all you know is London Calling, Rock The Casbah or Should I Stay Or Should I Go, you need to purchase Sandanista! and Give 'Em Enough Rope. Like, now.

I'm going to recommend you some of my favorites.

I think three bands is enough especially considering the amount of music you now have to sort through.
