So, I have an Irish heritage and I don't care. Granted I'm not completley Irish but I still think my opinion counts.

No one in Ireland actually gives a damn about an Irish stereotype in any game or otherwise. Hell I found it hilarious when they poked fun at the Irish in Blazing Saddles. If we complain about anything, it's these ridiculous accents that actors put on in attempt to imitate the Irish accent. Totally unacceptable, they butcher it every time. Movies and games are both guilty of this. And no, I don't care as much as this post seems to incline.

Ha! I knew who the Irish would complain about before I read this. Hahahaha!
I hated Irish as a character. He was a pain.
I liked Seth more, but I just love Irish's accent.

I play on the PSN with some Irish folk and they thought it was funny. People always complain about something.

I'm quite Irish myself and that is not offensive in the least. People need to stop crying, stereotypes are sometimes funny.

So because they complained about the Irish character in Red Dead Redemption and not GTA IV, can we assume that they're fine with the portrayl of Irish people as corrupt, substance abusing criminals and terrorists, with dysfunctional families lead by alcoholic, wife beating, child abusing, paedophile patriarchs?

What's the big deal? There's a Welsh stereotype that's even worse than Irish (using the slang "boyo" for example), and he even gets killed within seconds of meeting him.

I'm Welsh, and that doesn't bother me.

To anyone who is upset by national stereotypes in games: Fuck off.

I'm 1/3 Irish and my thoughts to this: I don't give a shit. Maybe if the Irish wouldn't drink so much, this wouldn't happen?

There's T-Shirts, references in shows (such as the episode of Family Guy where Peter meets his real dad), and other things. It just so happens that Rockstar likes to be the target for idiots. Go Rockstar, go!

I don't care either way, also GTA IV had some Irish stereotypes and even a whole family of them. Why does anyone hasn't bothered before with GTA IV, being that it's much modern (in timeine) than Red Dead. Also, simply calling that guy the "Irish" makes a lot of sense to me, as it is on the wild west and everyone and everything was... wild and "new", lots of ethnics gathered in a single place... with whores... Damn I want this game =)

As an Irishman, I'd respond. However I'm too drunk.

And wasn't that dude from GTA4 able to get shitfaced with his cousin?

Who cares what the writers of the Herald think, the Herald is even good enough to wipe my hairy Irish arse with. It's nothing but a tabloid which is just a little bit better than The sun and News of the World.

I thought Amaricans really liked Irish? Or am I generalising... oh no! I am using a steriotype!
Clearly the entire country of Amarica must now take some time off apologising to Ireland so they can make me apologise to them!
I don't get why it is that important really.

You know what, Rockstar? You can call him "Italia" for all I care. We're all winos, is that close enough? Or is the Italian guy already the fat chef or the plumber? Y'see, I honestly couldn't care less about people stereotyping me or my friends. Just lighten up, it's all in good fun.

But shit, man, even Ireland is bitching about stereotypes and political correctness? The hell is wrong with this world?
