You do realise this is much, much closer to the sex/blood/guts original version of the story, right? Something I personally applaud, by the way.Cole Sauer said:I reacently saw a commercial for a new horror movie and it looked okay (but i dont like horror so whatever) so i was wondering what it was and i saw it was red riding hood... REALLY i feal like media is just rying to murder my child hood anyone else?
Catherine Hardwicke (the FEMALE director of the first Twilight film), like everyone else involved in said film, had previously been attached to plenty of GOOD projects too, that were critical and commercial successes. If this was written by Stephanie Meyer, then we'd havecause for concern, but it isn't, and thus your hatred is severely misplaced.Crazy_Dude said:Michael Bay already ruined my childhood nothing can make me forget those horrible Transformer movies.Cole Sauer said:I reacently saw a commercial for a new horror movie and it looked okay (but i dont like horror so whatever) so i was wondering what it was and i saw it was red riding hood... Also isnt Red Riding Hood directed by the same guy who directed Twilight?
I think I have said enough.
I did not know thatNuclearPenguin said:Directed by the same guy who directed Twilight indeed.
Also, Brothers Grim.
Wanna hear the oral tradition, ie. the ORIGINAL Red Riding Hood?Cole Sauer said:I reacently saw a commercial for a new horror movie and it looked okay (but i dont like horror so whatever) so i was wondering what it was and i saw it was red riding hood... Except that the story of red riding hood is about as far from today's PG-rated version as I am from a sheep. The real, older stories are very dark, violent, and far more interesting. As I said the first time I saw the trailer, why couldn't they have just played it straight, instead of turning it into a Twilight-clone?Ariyura said:It's based off a young adult book, so I'm not expecting too much.
Naw, the internet already id that.Cole Sauer said:I reacently saw a commercial for a new horror movie and it looked okay (but i dont like horror so whatever) so i was wondering what it was and i saw it was red riding hood... Like you I would love to see the real, darker telling of most of the old tales. As they were meant to be. But they're going with whats selling right now. And who has more expandable cash then rabid teenage girls waiting for the next Twilight.Dr_Horrible said:Except that the story of red riding hood is about as far from today's PG-rated version as I am from a sheep. Guess I'm just too picky about film these days...
Yeah, you're exactly right. The public seems to want paranormal romance, so the industry gives them paranormal romance. I figure I'll just continue to wait this trend out with classic horror movies and indie stuff until 'good' becomes popular again... It's worked fairly well so far.Ariyura said:Like you I would love to see the real, darker telling of most of the old tales. As they were meant to be. But they're going with whats selling right now. It was one of the adaptations that come from the Brothers' original. It touched upon themes of bestiality and rape, and vaguely pedophilia, and was later used a launching point for ones that dealt with ideas of feminism, on both sides.Ghengis John said:I don't remember a version with bestiality.manythings said:Read the old, OLD version. It involves bestiality, sometimes cannibalism and there sure as shit isn't a woodsman to save the day.Ghengis John said:Yes. Yes it is. Red Riding hood is a good girl. Shit, she's here to help her grandma. I guess the lesson was, good intentions are no shield from harm. Or maybe don't trust strangers. Or maybe "watch your ass in the woods." Heck there's a lot of good lessons there.Blank Kold said:You ought to reread Little Red Riding Hood as an adult. It's kind of fucked up.
