Don't give up, matter of fact, go after women you think are imposible to achieve. Learn from your mistakes and things will start to change. That is, of course, unless you are ugly as sin.
This is perfect, because what do you really have to lose? And don't say pride or integrity. These are things you can't really lose unless you yourself choose to.

And rejection is part of life. Learn from it and move on. It's the best thing to do for yourself. AND heck... sometimes there IS nothing to learn from being rejected, except that it just isn't there for her. Nobodies fault.

Speaks volumes about gaming culture when this topic gets 5 pages of replies in 4 hours.

Everybody gets rejected, it's not nice but you've just gotta deal with it.

If you care to hear some of mine:
"I just like you as a friend."
"I don't want to be with anybody right now."
"I'm a lesbian."

To me, saying "I like you as a friend" means "get your hand out of my cleavage and let's go out for a drink, and if you dare start up telling me that you love me, I'll kick your face".

Some may be a little more subtle.

No. I haven't experienced it in a relationship due to the fact that the only people I attract are crazies. Get away *****!

I always get stuck in the friend zone. Right now I like this girl and she likes me just as a friend. I'll let you know how it goes.

there are other women who aren't so nice. I once told this girl I liked her and she said the usual: "Can't we just be friends". I sent her three more text messages in the three weeks since she said that and I'm still waiting for a reply.

sure I can read women, except the one I like...

and no, I never had rejections, yet, it will change in a few weeks, when I tell the girl I like I really do like her.

don't worry, the full story will end up here, you can read all about it then.

does anybody even read these posts? they are like 5 pages in?

The friend zone. A plane from which there is no return, of eternal torture.

EDIT: http://www.laddertheory.com/ladderconstruction.htm scroll down to the woman's ladder.
Hey, now, in romantic comedies the guy almost always returns from the friend zone!

That must be how real life is, too!

So I just got shot down something fierce by a girl. Not sure what caused it. The official reason was "I like you, but as a friend."
... What? What does that even mean?

So this has caused me to wonder: when have you other escapists ever experienced rejection, and more importantly: what was the 'official reason'?

means she wasn't atracted to you

as to the second half, the only time i've ever been rejected was cause she liked one of my best friends, i decided to be nice for once and set them up, they've been goin out ever since

I get so anxious about screwing it up once I find out I have a chance, that I end up rejecting myself. I get so worked up about saying or doing the wrong thing that I end up not doing or saying anything. God damn it all.

Well as far as I know what that means is sometimes it is just a cheap get out claus for not having a good reason so they don't sound like a ***** although osmetimes I am sure they just want to be friends.

OT: I got the same thing as you phrased differently.

I have had the exact same reason as you. "I like you, but only as a friend" and what made it worse was that I didn't have the courage to ask her out. Apparently I'm as easy to read as a book so she just took me away from the group of friends, told me that. she was really nice about it, but I guess I just hurt so much. You know what's even more sad about that? That's the first time and that was when I was 17!

As a girl, I've gotten this - from guys. I think it's because they've spent so long as your friend that looking at you in "that way" seems gross and wrong somehow. At least, that's how I came to understand it. (I could always be wrong!)

Sorry to hear you got your game busted, though.

Means she doesn't like you. Get over it. Realize it's you and not her and stop blaming womankind for it.
