Oh my God! Pripyat, Ukraine looks like Pripyat, Ukraine! The shock!

Sorry for the sarcasm, but I don't understand what you're trying to say here. Did people really not know this was a real place, or that the level design was actually based off the abandoned city?

Anyway, I'd love to go there.
They are finally gonna open the area for tourists this year I think. I really wanna go as well.

Pripyat always makes me feel sad (the photos). You have to realise a ton of people just died with little warning. It's really sad. (Don't compare it to Nagasaki or Hiroshima because those were different circumstances)

OT: They did a good job on recreation.

FAKE! You can't get anywhere near Reactor 4 or Chyernobyl at all. It's military controled and they deny access to anyone without extreme clearence.

Someone didn't play Veteran difficulty :p
Hmm, can't really remember what difficulty I played in. But I do remember playing it through on a difficulty setting that was significantly harder than "normal". How many difficulty settings are there in CoD: MW again? (I borrowed the game from a friend and those were pretty much my only playthroughs so)
Ah, you might have dude, I was just jovially pointing out that on the high difficulties the enemies' AKs are more than a match for the two sniper rifles!

That level is notoriously difficult on Veteran difficulty. Which is the 4th out of 4, to answer your question. It's so hard that it's where most people just give up the game (some even found it incredibly tough on Normal).

Well someone obviously did if there's a photo of it right there.

Quite true, if it were fake, that picture wouldnt exist. Lol.

They do tours of the place, its no longer under control by the military I dont think, Well, it is, just not patrolled as much as it was so many years ago.

One of my favorite photos from Pripyat is one taken inside an abandoned school, in the music classroom. On the piano there are music sheets with a toppled inkwell on top. The spilled, dried ink making a thick, black curve along the sheets. It looks very artistic and makes a statement.

I tried my best to find it but couldn't...
By the way, if you're looking for photos of Pripyat look no further [http://www.angelfire.com/extreme4/kiddofspeed/]
I think this is the photo you're referring to?

You can get close but not beyond the gate. Making photographs is also bound to certain rules - only photographs made from a certain angle are allowed, all others will make the guards go mental (or so I heard). You're right that the plant is controlled by the military, however you're allowed to get this close :) Otherwise there would be no point of putting down a monument there.

I beg to differ. The veteran difficulty camping spot was sprinting across the map to an abandoned apartment block behind where the enemies spawned and camping there (killing 4 enemies exactly) until the heli arrived.

[sub][sub][sub]Why do I still remember this?! Why did I bring it up?![/sub][/sub][/sub]
Cheater!!! :D

Just joking. I did it that way too but felt guilty and went back and did it the awful way.

Before i played mw i knew about the Ferris wheel and the buildings surrounding it so playing through it in mw gave it more of a chilling feeling to the gameplay.

In depth research reveals that the city is called 'Pripyat,' not 'Prypiat.'
The city is called 'При́пять' actually, and both 'Pripyat' and 'Pripiat' are accepted english translations.
Is it generally accepted that non-english words that do not have an English equivalent (especially proper nouns) are just spelled phonetically? It seems true. I recall in a former job being annoyed that Arabic names and titles could be spelled correctly many different ways, which always made it fun trying to determine if Muhammad and Mohammad were referring to the same guy or not.

Do your research!!! There are several tour operators in kiev that organise trips into the zone, yeah youre right it is military controlled but with the right papers and guide you can visit.

look for yourself: http://tourkiev.com/chernobyltour/
