You were a bit of a dick for that, and I have no sympathy. Last year, I lived in student halls of residence, where I had to share 6 washing machines and 6 dryers (which were also prone to breaking down often) with roughly 150 other tenants. We got used to finding our washing or drying clothes dumped on the shelf next to the machines, and we all did it to everyone. It was just pot luck. If you live in a place with communl washing machines then you should be prepared for things like this. I fully support whoever's washing it was and if I knew you'd done something like that, I'd want you to pay the person their money back for their clothes. Basically, you, sir, were being an asshole and I think anyone who agrees with your actions on this thread is the same.

I'm sure if you destroyed the person's clothes who have stolen your dryer, they would never do it again. And anybody who would think about stealing another washer or dryer after that would probably not do so. Great punishment, great deterence, and great problem solving.

I live in an apartment building. I share a total of 4 washers and 4 dryers with 80 other tenants, so it's safe to say there's a pretty good fight for them. I get my chef whites into the dryer this morning, which i needed for work that day, and paid for 68 mins of dry time. I come back down to find my damp load of whites on top of the dryer and a nice warm load of darks in my dryer, on my dime. I't now too late to dry my clothes before work. Thoroughly pissed off, I take a pure bleach stain pen (an industrial strength bleach stick, kitchen use only, this shit will eat through t-shirts) and EMPTY it on the load of darks. jeans, shirts, bras, underwear, socks, I coat everything. It's starting to eat and strip colour out of the clothes instantly. Feeling a little better, I take my laundry up to my apartment, hang it to dry, and post the event here.

Just looking back, what do you guys think? too far? justified?
I have no remorse either way, just wondering how much of an asshole I seem like today.
All things considered I'd have probably also waited to see where the owners live and continue to burn every bit of clothing they find by breaking in routinely.

There was no justification whatsoever, so don't you dare try and justify your actions on the internet like a coward.
I'm not going to explain my actions or try to justify myself, I did what I did. the whole point of this thread was asking your opinion. You did this, so thank you for your contribution.

Maybe you should wash em and try get them in the drier sooner? Or, I dunno hang dry what you know you'll need for the next day?

EDIT: Forgot to mention my thoughts on what you did, I think you went a bit far. But it was justified, it's not like they put some coins in the pocket of your clothes to make up for it, so they did steal.
