Good to know. One question, may I use reviews I've previously published on The Escapist? Just want to make sure. Otherwise I'll just have to write some new ones and, you know, not publish them.

I'm pretty sure that you're not supposed to put reviews in that you've previously published. But till the next War is announced publish away: after all, you have no idea whether a review that you wanted to submit for the next War will be relevant until it's announced.

Too bad, I can't recreate the pure genius of some of my reviews (getting a bit cocky, am I?). Some reviews are better than others. But I guess you're right that it's no use to wait forever, I'll make something then.

This is a super-thread, it shall never be locked. I's actually a thread for all review competitions past, present and future.

But seriously, he's right. The judging's done, but the score processing hasn't. We've been waiting for more than 2 months now, so why do we have to wait any longer?

Two and a half months, by my count. Then again, we all know how bad I am when it comes to doing math based on weeks

To put how long this has been in perspective, at least one of the competitors was banned, another basically said he was leaving the forums for the most part, and a judge also got banned during that time.

If the last judge has STILL failed to turn in that last score, get someone else to do it. There are deadlines for a reason: so that you can stick to them. Failure to do so should get you knocked off.

I think he was refering to TheNecroswanson, but I don't really pay much mind to that sort of thing either.

In other news, I've still got most of my scores saved in word, and I'm sure that if we asked a few other judges they could send their scores off to the contestants who want them. That is, unless NewClassic is nearly complete with them as he said. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for a bit, but I'm really wondering what's up.

EDIT: Oh, dang, Danzorz was banned. Hmmm.

I honestly did not like my review of SMW, and I can tell there was one judge who did not care for it either. I'm glad some judges found humor in it, but in all reality it wasn't comedic, so I guess I just got lucky with a happy bunch of people.

If there is another contest, though, I suggest we have much more strict deadlines.

Entertainment value was one of the criteria? Well that's one area I was never likely to excel in seeing I'm yet to find a way to translate my sense of humour to writing. Shame it took so long to get the comments, as I've no idea how relevant they still are (although I haven't written enough to have developed much since then). I can't help avoiding the feeling that I've actually gotten worse in a couple of areas I'm called out on.

Anyway, I sincerely hope there's another (slightly more punctual) contest in the not-too-distant future. I need the practise and incentive to write before I have a degree hanging on it (in the absence of actual self-motivation).Thanks to the judges, and I'll try and work out which comments are still relevant.

I just feel like I should be judged on what I am writing now and not what I wrote three months ago. There's no way for that to have happened with this competition, but I just really feel my recent review of Dance Gavin Dance that got 0 posts is the best writing I've ever done, and yet nobody will recognize that. But this slightly comedic though description-lacking review of Super Mario World was 19 points off of a perfect score and I'm just thinking "Well, what if they read one of my recent reviews?"

A congratulations goes to you for placing second, as well as joethekoeller for third. I didn't have the pleasure of reading your reviews, but you've done well and placed in the competition so I trust the judge's...errr...judgement!

Fuck, sorry man. Haven't been around much in the Review section, so I wasn't here to see that. Time for a quite review review/bump.

What's funny was, I'm pretty sure that the version of my review I reworked after submission was much better. But hey, at least now we can get back on track and have some more quick competitions.

Honestly, I'd like to vote for a ridiculous topic for the next war. Let's do something un-serious, like most testosterone-fueled game you've ever played or something.

Where's the fun in everyone reviewing God of War and Gears of War though? I wouldn't mind that for a kind of essay war thingy. Maybe "masochism in game x" or something. Essay war is a terrible title, especially for something not meant to be serious, but you get the idea.

Unbelievable, the scores are finally in. I don't feel bad about being last place even if I liked my review. But it reminds me that it's always good to go over texts in foreign language twice.
