a king is about to die and sayes to his 2 sons, you will race across the country to become the next king, however... whoever's horse loses will become the next king.. the king shortly thereafter dies and the sons, baffled by their fathers request but still wanting to fufil his wishes start to race... but as slow as possible so they do not win.. after one day they have covered almost no ground and stop at an Inn for the night... how do they resolve this problem??
The bartender told them to switch horses.

I had to read this out at a school play when I was 7:
'Here is a riddle, a riddle-me-ray.
What is a cat that eats lemons all day?
Another riddle, a riddle-me-rum.
What type of train is full of gum?'

I've got a few...

There is a dead man in the desert. He is wearing a backpack and he holds a ring in his right hand. There are no vehicles nearby, and no tire marks. No weapons were found. How did he die there?

There is a dead man in a suit in a burnt forest. How did he die? (Ask for hints if needed)

There is a dead man inside a hill. His skin is blue. How did he die? (More hints, if needed)
my guess for the second one is that it follows and old (disproven) myth. the man is a scuba diver, there wwas a forest fire and an aerial tanker/helicopter was called in, the diver (in a WETSUIT) was sucked up into the intake valve for the water collection in the helicopter, and was dumped on the forest.

and i belive the "cat that eats lemons all day" is a sourpuss.

As I was going to St. Ives, I met a man with seven wives. Each wife had seven sacks. Each sack had seven cats. Each cat had seven kits. Kits, cats, sacks, wives. How many were going to St. Ives?
Wait, isn't the answer 'two?'
Both the man he met and himself were going to St. Ives.

Nope, the guy he met is just sitting in the middle of the road.
